"I've always loved speeches," Murphy drawled as he and Sayah stand beside Clarke and Finn in the crowd, waiting for Abby to address the matter at hand: the Grounders ordered by the Commander on their way to kill them all.
"Jaha's alive?" Murphy questioned, eyeing as he and Abby came out and stood at the head of the crowd.
"He was the one let go by the Commander, the one who sent the warning." Clarke explained.
Before they could continue speaking, Abby addressed the crowd. "By now, you've all heard the rumour. And unfortunately, it's true. The Grounders are coming." Sighs and chatter grew loud at her words.
"We have a difficult decision to make. Thankfully, Chancellor Jaha has found his way back to us, and we're discussing all options."
"But to be safe," Jaha spoke up. "You need to pack. Now. Whatever you can carry. We may need to leave at a moment's notice."
"Where we will go?" A man in the crowd asked.
"I don't know, is the answer." Jaha replied truthfully. "But I heard of a place. A city of light. It's across the Dead Zone." He pointed.
Sayah scoffed. Finn, Clarke and Finn turned their heads to her. "No one survives out in the Dead Zone. How do you think it got its name?" She whispered.
"What makes you think we'll make it there?" Someone asked Jaha.
"Because we made it here." Jaha told them confidently. "I have faith. And right now, given the alternative, that's good enough for me."
"Perfect. Either way, you die." Sayah muttered. John snickered at her words, kissing her cheek lightly.
"Not for us." Clarke stepped forward, directing her words to Jaha. "If we leave here, what happens to our people in Mount Weather?"
Jaha stared back at her, an recognisable expression on his face. "As your mother said," He replied sternly. "That is a very difficult decision to make."
"But the time has come for each and every one of us to ask," He went back to addressing the whole crowd. "Is this how the story of our people ends? Did we come all this way, just to die tomorrow? Because if we're not gone by the time that sun rises, that is exactly what will happen."
"No decision's been made," Abby spoke over the low chatter of the crowd. "In the meantime, please report to your station supervisor and gather emergency supplies." The crowd slowly dispersed, doing as they had been ordered.
Suddenly, Bellamy appeared, grabbing Clarke and Sayah's arm. "Bellamy?" Sayah questioned, confused.
"Hey, where have you been?" Clarke questioned.
"And where's Octavia?" Sayah added, concerned.
"In the drop ship. You need to come back with me. Both of you." Bellamy glanced between the two girls. Murphy eyed him curiously and Bellamy met his stare. "Just Clarke and Sayah." He clarified.
"Why, what's happened?" Clarke asked.
"I'll explain on the way. Bring a med kit, then meet me at Raven's gate." He rushed out before leaving.
"This is my fault," Finn sighed. "The Grounders are attacking because of me."
"Blood must have blood," Sayah said to Finn. "That's our way."
"You two go with Bellamy," Finn nodded after a moment. "Abby said no decision has been made. If that changes, I'll let you guys know."
"I'll stay too," Murphy sighed. "Considering Captain Bellamy also ordered me to." He mocked a salute. Sayah chuckled at his actions. Clarke and Sayah shared a look before Clarke nodded and headed off.
Sayah turned to Murphy. "Be back soon as I can," She told him. He sighed before humming in response. Sayah glanced at the ground nervously— Does she kiss him goodbye? She pursed her lips as she turned.
Sayah began to walk away but before she could an arm grabbed out to stop her and pulled her back. Murphy kissed her deeply, tightening his arms around her waist.
When they pulled apart, Sayah knitted her brows whereas Murphy just grinned. "I wouldn't let you leave without a goodbye kiss."
Sayah rolled her eyes but smiled back at him before following after Clarke. That boy. . .
༺═──────────────═༻
Sayah climbed up the ladder first, putting the med-kit up on the surface of the second floor. Clarke followed up after her. As soon as they stood up, a sharp growl sounded through the room.
Sayah's eyes widened. It couldn't be.
Lincoln was strapped to the walls, restrained, and he growled at her and Clarke with a deadly look in his eyes.
"Lincoln?" Her voice was shaky as she turned to Octavia who looked at her sadly. "H—How?"
"They. . ." Octavia swallowed. "They turned him into a Reaper." She informed her as Sayah turned to look at him. He looked straight through her. Sayah hated it.
"No, Lincoln—" She took a step forward, but Bellamy pulled her back.
"Be careful. It's not him." He told her. Sayah's lips parted in shock. He continued to scream at them and struggle, growling inhumanely. Sayah looked away at the sight.
"Can you help him?" Octavia questioned, not looking at Lincoln either.
Clarke shook her head. "I don't know. I knew Mount Weather controlled the Reapers. I had no idea they were creating them."
Sayah flinched when Lincoln shot forward in a struggle to get out. He growled loudly.
"If they can do that to Lincoln, what are they doing to our friends?" Bellamy questioned nervously.
༺═──────────────═༻
Lincoln would not stop screaming.
And Sayah absolutely hated it. This was supposed to be her brother. But it wasn't.
"Look what they've done to you," She whispered to herself closing her eyes softly as he screamed once more. He growled and he snarled and then. . . stopped. Sayah's eyes snapped open.
"He's convulsing." Clarke furrowed her brows.
"So, what does it mean?" Octavia asked.
Clarke stumbled on her words before she pointed at Lincoln's leg where it was bloody and injured. "What happened to his leg?"
"I shot him." Octavia admitted, regret deep in her tone. Sayah wasn't even mad, she knew Octavia would've only done it if she had to.
"Clarke, he's lost a lot of blood." Bellamy told her.
Clarke let a deep breath, taking one step forward towards Lincoln. His head shot up and he growled, causing her to jump back. Soon she tried again, stepping closer this time. "Can you shine the light on his neck?"
Octavia and Bellamy who held up the two torches moved their light over to his neck.
"Needle marks." Clarke confirmed.
"You think he's been drugged?" Bellamy questioned.
"Maybe." Clarke replied. Before Sayah could speak up, one of Lincoln's restraints came loose, smacking Clarke harshly in the face. She fell, landing into Lincoln's chest and Sayah and Octavia rushed forward instantly.
Lincoln shoved Sayah away, hard, who then knocked into Octavia and both girls flew back. Bellamy rushed forward after, trying over and over again to hit Lincoln's armwho held Clarke. It was no use, Lincoln grabbed Bellamy by the throat and lifted him up, before knocking his own head into Bellamy's. Bellamy fell back to the ground as well as Clarke.
Lincoln then pulled the neck restraints off over his head and went for Bellamy. But one of his ankles were still restrained so was pulled back and resorted to lying on the ground and trying to grab anyone who was close.
Sayah scooted as far back as she could as he continued growling and clawing. Lincoln turned to rip off his ankle restraint, and Bellamy ran at him with the electrical baton. Lincoln was stronger and faster though, pulling off his ankle restraint before grabbing Bellamy and slamming him down harshly onto the floor. The two boys battled, throwing punches. Clarke tried to interfere but was only thrown away again in the process.
Sayah grabbed a pole closest to her and approached Lincoln quickly. "Forgive me, brother." She muttered before swinging it over onto his back. Just when he straightened up and was about to shove her away, she swung the pole again, hitting him across the face, knocking him out. She panted, dropping to the floor alongside Bellamy.
Bellamy let a pained breath, hand reaching out to pat her shoulder lightly as a thank you. She only stared at her unconscious brother.
༺═──────────────═༻
"We have to stop the bleeding and get the bullet out," Clarke said as she examined the wound. Lincoln was now chained to the floor—heavily.
"Hold his leg down." She ordered as he began to wake up. Bellamy did as she said.
Sayah watched as Octavia cautiously tried to pour some water into Lincoln's mouth, but he only spat it back up and tried to bite her, letting out several grunts. Octavia yelped and scooted back slightly, "I'll get some more." She stated, trying to hide the hurt in her voice.
She stood up but Bellamy stopped her. "O, once the drug is out of his system, he'll be okay."
"You can't protect me from this one, big brother." Octavia muttered before brushing past him.
After a moment, Clarke finished with the wound and tied it up. "Your mom would be proud." Bellamy told her.
"My mom would know how to save him." Clarke replied to Bellamy. Suddenly the hatch door opened and Octavia entered. But she wasn't alone.
"Nyko." Sayah furrowed her brows, just as Bellamy moved quickly and grabbed a gun.
"Bellamy, don't!" Sayah spoke up, putting out her arm to him. Octavia moved in front of Nyko.
"He's their friend," Octavia explained. "And their healer."
Bellamy paused, looking over to Sayah. Sayah nodded. "It is true."
Lincoln started to convulse again. "He's seizing again." Clarke spoke up. Bellamy eyed Nyko and motioned to Lincoln. Nyko knelt down beisde Lincoln.
He grabbed a small bottle and Sayah watched as he began to tip it, just enougb for a small drop to form. "Yu gonplei ste odon." He suddenly muttered and Sayah's eyes widened.
"No!" She put out her hand for the drop just as it fell. It landed in her palm. Nyko grabbed his blade.
Clarke furrowed her brows. "I know that saying." She muttered. "It's what they say—"
"Before death." Sayah finished, angrily.
"He's not trying to heal him, he's trying to kill him." Clarke concluded.
༺═──────────────═༻
"Why would you do that, Nyko?" Sayah questioned.
"Death is the only way," Nyko replied. "Even you, yourself know that." Sayah clenched her jaw. "No man survives after they are a Reaper."
Clarke spoke up. "Hold on. There could be a way to bring him back."
"None that I've ever seen." Nyko said to her.
Suddenly, Finn appeared out of the hatch door. "We have to go. The camp's leaving."
Nyko stood up instantly. "You!"
Finn didn't get another chance to speak as he was grabbed by Nyko who yelled out, "Murderer!" Nyko pinned him to the wall.
"Get off him!" Bellamy ordered, raising his gun.
"You slaughtered my people." Nyko wrapped his hands around Finn's neck, choking him. "Elders. Children. Innocents."
Octavia looked over to Sayah for help, who watched tensely, but didn't say a word. She didn't even move.
"Nyko, you're killing him." Octavia protested as she tried to pull him off of Finn. "Blood must have blood!" Nyko seethed.
"Get out of the way!" Bellamy ordered to Octavia, gun raised high.
"Bellamy, you are not shooting him!" Octavia screamed back at him.
Suddenly, Nyko was on the ground, shaking and gasping as Clarke stood above him with the electric baton in hand. It was silent for a moment.
Then Sayah realised. It was silent. Her head snapped to Lincoln. He wasn't growling or snarling; he wasn't even moving. "Lincoln?" Sayah panicked, checking his pulse. "He's not breathing. Clarke, he's not breathing."
Clarke checked his pulse also. "His heart stopped. Move." Sayah did as she was told. Clarke straddled him, and starting pushing on his chest.
"What are you doing?" Sayah questioned shakily.
"Compressions, hoping to get his heart beating again." Clarke explained to her.
After a few seconds, Lincoln gasped and coughed. He was alive. Sayah let out breath of relief along with Octavia.
"He was dead." Nyko commented, surprised. "How did you do that?"
"You've tried bringing Reapers back before?" Clarke questioned him. Nyko nodded. "And they died like this?" He nodded again.
Clarke went silent for a moment. "What is it?" Bellamy questioned her.
"I know how to stop the attack." Clarke stated.
༺═──────────────═༻
The hatch door opened loudly as Finn appeared, climbing up. Abby followed him.
"Oh thank god," Octavia breathed out. "Where's Clarke?"
"Trying to stop a war." Finn responded.
Abby, being the healer she is, knelt down beside him. She glanced towards Sayah. "This is your brother you spoke of?" Sayah nodded, remembering their conversation while she was held in a cell. Abby inhaled deeply. "Then I will do everything I can to bring him back to you."
She moved quickly, checking his eyes. They were nearly a full a crimson red. "Pupils are unresponsive." Abby muttered. "Tie off his arm. Tight as you can." She ordered Octavia. Octavia did so quickly.
"Thanks to the supplies your brother found, Lincoln might have a chance." Abby told Octavia as she held some sort of tube in her hand and a needle.
"What is that?" Sayah questioned, brows furrowed in worry.
"This will bring down his fever." Abby explained. As soon as she poked the needle slightly, Lincoln grunted and struggled in his spot. "Hold him down!"
Sayah rushed with the others, holding a part of Lincoln's body to keep him as still as possible. He shook and grunted and then suddenly stopped.
"What's happening? Why isn't it working?" Sayah rushed out, sharing a look with Octavia.
"His heart stopped." Abby explained after checking his pulse. She did as Clarke did earlier, straddling him and pushing on his chest with her hands.
"Compressions," Sayah muttered to herself.
Nyko knelt down beside Sayah. Abby caught his eye. "You're their healer? Tilt his head back. Pull his chin down to open his airway."
Abby kept going and going but nothing was happening like it did before. "Come on, Lincoln." Sayah whispered softly. "I need you here, you have to come back to me."
Then Abby stopped.
"You're stopping. What's wrong?" Octavia questioned in a shaky voice.
"I'm sorry." Abby said, leaning back. "He's gone."
"No, it's not possible." Octavia argued. "You're wrong." She said angrily, taking over Abby's place and starting to do the compressions herself.
Sayah's lip trembled. She rested her forehead on Lincoln's and let out soft words to him in whispers. "You are strong. You are strong. You taught me to be strong, so come back to me. Please, Lincoln." Tears filled her eyes.
"Come back," Octavia breathed out, beginning to sob. The hatch opened and Clarke entered. But she wasn't alone.
Heda was here.
The Commander shared a look with Clarke after realising that Lincoln was, in fact, not alive. Sayah swallowed hard, standing up slowly, her jaw locking tight as she eyed the guards around them.
Then Indra entered. It was silent for a moment as glances were shared between the two parties. Sayah's hand twitched for her sword.
The Commander nodded to Indra. "Kill them all," Indra confirmed drawing out her own sword. Bellamy grabbed his gun as Sayah took out her sword and Abby grabbed the electrical stun/baton.
"Please, you don't have to do this." Clarke tried to reason with the Commander.
"You lied." Heda spoke. "And you are out of time."
Suddenly, Abby moved quickly and used the electrical stun/baton directly on Lincoln's chest. He rose and then fell.
"Hit him again," Clarke ordered, eyes wide. Abby did so.
And Lincoln gasped. He was alive once more.
Sayah let go of her sword and dropped to her knees just as Octavia moved over towards Lincoln too. He glanced around at the two girls. His two girls.
"Brother," Sayah whispered.
"Sayah," Lincoln breathed out. Sayah and Octavia simultaneously let out a sigh of relief.
Sayah rested her head on Lincoln's chest in relief. She had never wanted to hear his heart beat more. She had her brother back.
