Chapter 4

"Have you noticed anything weird recently?" you and Kensei were on the top of a bridge, legs hanging off the edge. Kensei' s head turned in your direction at the question.

"Like what?" you shrugged. "I-I don't know. Lately I've been getting strange feelings. The kind of vibes I usually get when a hollow is close by, but it feels different." your brow furrowed in frustration. "I'm not sure how to explain it honestly."

"Don't go psyching yourself out. I'll make a trip back and find out if there is anything strange hanging around. " you smiled up at him. "Thanks Kensei." He returned it leaning forward. You blushed. "Don't you think I should get a reward for always following your request." you turned your head. "You do that willingly." you said in a matter of factly tone. Kensei sighed.

"Fine, well we should probably head back."

You nodded turning back to him.

"Yes we mphp-" your eyes shot open when Kensei kissed you. You could feel him grinning against your lips, content with your reaction. You flushed closing your eyes returning the kiss.

When he pulled back he licked his lips.

"Gotcha." you glowered as he stood walking away like nothing happened.

"B-Baka!"

You were walking on your way to school, pressing a finger to your lips. It still felt a bit surreal. It seemed like you had been pining after Kensei forever. Now he was all yours. Yours to hug and...kiss. You blushed. You really enjoyed kissing him, not that you would ever admit it to him. You didn't want him getting a bigger head than he already has. He never let that comment you made about him being hot go. 

You still couldn't believe you said that. "I really need to watch what I say around him now." you chuckled lost in your thoughts. You grunted when someone bumped your shoulder. You looked up at one of your classmates. "Sorry." you said. He gave a sweet smile, tapping you on the shoulder. A dangerous shiver ran up your spine when his hand touched you.

"It's no problem. A pretty girl like you can run into me anytime. " he said sultrily. Your eyes remained neutral as you looked at him. You weren't sure why, but the male's presence was making you uneasy. The confusing part was you never felt like this around him. He was a guy in your class, Kenma if you remembered correctly was his name. He barely ever spoke to you, now out of the blue he was flirting. 

"Maybe I'm just overthinking. " you just smiled at him. "Well sorry again, I have to get Kenma-kun." you hurried walking away as you tried to gather yourself. "I should ask Kensei, maybe it's just that weird reiatsu that's messing with my head. " Kenma waved at you happily as you walked off. You however had failed to see the menacing smile that spread on his face as he licked his lips.

"What a tasty looking treat." the male muttered under his breath.

After the encounter you just tried to ignore it. You wouldn't see Kensei until later in the evening so you thought it was better not to stress about it. You went about the day as normal, and slowly but surely you started to feel normal again.

"Did you hear what happened to that girl during third period?" you sat on the roof enjoying your bento in a corner by yourself. "Yeah, they found her unconscious in a closet, that's so weird. They called the nurse and apparently it was so bad that they had to move the girl to the hospital." your ears perked up at the conversation. You stood walking over to the girls.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop but what happened to that girl. " the two girls who were talking turned to you. "Oh! She apparently got really sick all of a sudden. No one knows what happened but she was fine this morning. Out of the blue she just fell ill." you nodded.

"Okay, thank you. " you said with a bow leaving. Your eyes hardened.

"Is this just a coincidence? I can't help but feel like something else is happening here. " You didn't know what it was, but there was a bad feeling in your gut. You grimaced

In the past, whenever that happened you knew something was about to go down. 

Your gut was usually right.

You entered the class when the bell rang. You couldn't focus though. The teacher carried in with the class as you zoned out. Your nerves were on end. It felt like someone was staring at the back of your head. You glanced to the side, trying to get a view of who it was.

Before you had a chance the door to your class swung open. Your mouth opened when you saw who walked in.

"K-Kensei!!" you shouted involuntarily. A few gasps echoed throughout the room.

"Who the hell are you!?!" you were shocked at your teacher's words. She could see him too. From the terrified looks of some of the other students you could tell she wasn't the only one.

"This is bad. " he turned in your direction. In the blink of an eye he had disappeared. You flinched when he was back in your sights. This time he was holding Kenma by the throat against a wall.

The male struggled against Kensei's hold. You looked on horrified.

"(Y-Y/N)-san p-please help me!" your classmate pleaded. Some of the students ran out the class with fear. Your teacher looked just as scared but she ran forward beating against Kensei's shoulder. "L-Let go of my student!" Kensei didn't even flinch. You moved forward looking at Kensei.

"W-What are you doing Kensei!" he looked back at you.

"You were right, something is wrong, this isn't your classmate (Y/N)." you stared in disbelief.

"W-What do you mean?" you asked frozen in your place.

"He's-"

"I said let go!!" your teacher yelled. You jumped when you felt a small burst of energy spark at your side. Kensei was caught off guard not expecting that from a human. 

He jested back slightly hitting a desk, letting go of Kenma. Your teacher moved over to help the student as he struggled to catch his breath. Kensei picked himself up with a glare.

"Get away from him." Kensei instructed. You looked over as your teacher held Kenma at by his shoulder, getting him to his feet. She glared in Kensei's direction. Kenma smirked.

"Thank you so much Sensei~" another chill ran up your spine when Kenma spoke.

"Such a powerful little human." Your teacher looked over at him in confusion at his words.

You were shocked when he suddenly dove forward, grabbing your teacher by the back of her neck as he kissed her. She struggled against his hold and you stared when you saw something going down her throat. He released almost immediately, body collapsing to the floor. You watched as Kenma body was now laying on the ground. Your eyes shook in fear. "I-Is he dead?'

"He's fine, just unconscious." Kensei said. You looked back at your teacher as she flexed her fingers. "I was right, this one is so much better. So much raw energy." her entire demanour changed.

"Seems you weren't quick enough reaper." She wasted no time, running to the window, pulling up the panel as she jumped out.

"Catch me if you can!" she taunted as she jumped through the sky.

"What the hell is going on!" Kensei shook his head. "No time to explain, I need you to focus right now. For some reason you're more in tune to this hollow than I am, maybe because it's using the reiastsu of your classmates. I need you to pinpoint where it is. Then I can get rid of it." your eyes shook in uncertainty. "B-But what's going to happen to Sensei?" you asked.

"Don't worry, I won't harm her. But we need to find her before it changes bodies again." you gathered yourself with a nod.

"A-Alright let's go."
