Chapter Sixteen

When I climbed into my window I realized that this was becoming a bad habit. My body smelt of forest, sweat, and sex so I showered then went downstairs to find Charlie gone for the day.

Food was at the forefront of my thoughts so I scavenged, cooked, ate, and took my tired ass to bed.

Charlie woke me up from my long nap.

"Hey, long time no see." He joked.

I gave a small snigger and stretched my limbs. "When did you get in?" I asked him.

"Not too long ago. Want to go out for food or do you feel like cooking?"

Thinking it over I compromised with him. "How about we order pizza and watch a game together?"

"Sounds like a great evening! See you downstairs!" He disappeared after closing my door and I stretched again.

Rethinking about every moment since coming to Spokane I dressed in sweats and baggy shirt with my hair up. So far I had met the pack, befriended a coven of vampires, almost was drained by extended family of said coven, thrown out after telling the truth, and had sex with Jacob Black.

I was on a roll. The sarcasm in my voice surprised even me.

By the time I made my way downstairs there was a knock on the door. Thinking it was the pizza delivery guy I opened the door only to find Jacob and Billy.

"Hey! Whatcha doing up here?" I asked with a smile not caring how I looked.

"Charlie invited us and we thought it would be fun." Billy said as he cast a glance between Jake and me. Oh yeah he knew for sure.

My cheeks were feeling hot but I choose to ignore it. "Well come on in. The pizza shouldn't be much longer."

Billy walked himself in and into the living room where I could hear Charlie's greeting.

Meanwhile Jacob backed me up against the hallway wall and kissed me until I was dizzy.

The man really knew how to kiss.

A lazy happy smile came to my face and I probably looked like an idiot.

Another knock sounded on the door and I opened it to find Mike with a pizza box balanced on his hand.

"Hey Bella. It'll be $15.50."

I handed him the money while Jacob reached around me to snag the box.

"Thanks Mike. See you in school." Before he could utter another word I closed the door in his face. Mike was okay for a human but I prefer my men on the supernatural side.

"Don't eat it all! You pig." Billy grumbled to his son.

Jake only smiled. A basketball game was on and we all settled down to watch. Jacob conveniently pulled me down on the love seat next to him. I didn't mind but I saw Billy and Charlie smile at each other.

Those two!

The game ended so we went up to my room to give the gossipers time to talk downstairs.

"So did the guys give you a ribbing?"

"You know them." He mumbled as his cheeks went pink under his tanned skin. "One can only take so many innuendos." he sighed in defeat and collapsed on my bed, taking up most of the room but I didn't care.

I was pretty sure he knew it was a one night stand last night but I wanted to make sure he understood.

"Jake? what happened last night. . .is a one time thing. I mean I don't mind being friends with benefits. I'm sure you'll find your mate sometime so I don't want us to get closer than friends." I paused, his face hadn't closed off so I assumed he understood.

He nodded. "Friends with benefits, sounds like a good idea."

The topic changed to lighter subjects and all too soon he and Billy left.

School would be in session tomorrow and I dreaded the thought of having to sit next to Edward Freaking Cullen!

Has he told his siblings, his mother and father? Somehow I knew Alice would know.

With heavy thoughts I drifted into a restless sleep where I dreamed of what used to be.
