Kalani's POV "Next up in our elite teen solo division is Ms.Kalani with Unbeauty." I heard the announcer say. I walked on stage, a smile plastered on my face and got into the first position for my dance. The music starts up and I begin my dance. I wave my arms here and there, letting my pink skirt flow and softly hit my legs every so often. I do my turns when I'm supposed to. I do my dance for the next minute and a half...then a thought occurs. I was hoping I could answer it but I couldn't. Uh oh...what was the next move? I could already hear the dramatic music signaling that I had forgotten...I had to cover it up. I did the last 20 seconds of another solo and ended in a different pose than I was supposed to. I walked off stage smiling ear to ear looking at the judges and audience. As soon as I was back stage my smile dropped. "What's wrong? Was that your ending pose? I thought it was you standing up on reléve with your arms above your head..." Maddie commented. "I...forgot..." I replied breathlessly. I ran over the ending piece of my solo. I clicked my tongue showing disappointment. "Oh, it was this..." I waved my arms showing a turn and my ending pose... "I hope Miss Abby isn't too mad." My three teammates and I walked back towards the dressing room and met my mom in the hall. "Kalani, I thought you ended on reléve." I started to tear up a little up. This has never happened to me before. "Mom, I forgot. Ok? Let's just go back to the room." "Just be careful...I don't know how Miss Abby is gonna feel. She could be mad because you've never done this before or she could be gentle because it's your first time doing this." We started back towards the room. We walked down the rest of the long hallway in silence for the next five minutes. We got there and I was greeted with hugs from Nia and Mackenzie who had already started with their costume and make-up. Miss Abby walked into the room, eyeing me with disappointment. "Kalani...you know what happened right?" "Yes Miss Abby, I forgot part of dance." I said as silently as possible while she can still hear me. I was staring at the floor and had a small frown on my face. "But, I do want to give you props for handling it like a professional and kept dancing instead of running off stage." With this said, my frown grew into a small grin instead. My mom even smiled a bit at this comment too. "Well, now that that is out of the way, everybody get ready for group. Here are your costumes," saying this as she hands every one of us our costumes. "Also, be fast we have 10 numbers ahead. That's only half an hour." In a snap, we all started to dash toward the mirrors to do make-up and towards the curtain to change. ~~~~~~~20 minute time skip~~~~~~~"Ladieeeesss! 10 minutes! We have to leave in 5 minutes! Come on come on! We need to run over the dance too. Let's go! " Miss Abby yelled. I pressed on the last of my lipstick and I was ready to go. Not even a minute later the rest of the group was stage-ready and Gia started the music so we could practice the dance.
