The Dream

Maddie's POV (After the competition) I walked back to the dressing room proud, I had my 1st place trophy in hand and a crown on my head. Our group had won first place, but more importantly my solo had won first. "Yayyy!" Abby said as she walked in. "Congrats to our team, we got first place for group! Also, we had Kalani in first! Awesome job girls. I just wish we had a clean sweep...Nia, your solo was second place..." She said as she eyed the tall 12-year old. *let's just say here Nia is 12, so she's in the pre-teen category and not 13 like she is right now*"But, Miss Abby... We did get a clean sweep. I won first. What about me??" I announce, worry in my voice. She clearly forgot I was there...in the back of my mind this was the one thing I worried about when Destiny and Scarlet came. In reality, I had started whimpering, my lip was quivering and my eyes started forming tears. But I couldn't wake up just yet, I wanted to know what happens next. "What about me Miss Abby? What did you think?" I asked again. In dream-Maddie's mind I heard her- er- my thoughts start swarming me. "She's not noticing me..." I thought. If I screamed in my dream and she noticed me, she might get mad at me...I decided to take the risk anyways. I took a deep breath and let it out. "MISSSS ABBBYYYYY!!!" The team continued getting out of their costumes, undoing their hair, and getting into regular clothes. Nobody....nobody noticed me... "Hey Mackenzie!" Destiny said. "Ya Des?" She asked while still taking off her make-up. "D-didn't you have a sister??" Oh my gosh...did Destiny remember me?? I think when people remember me they'll start to notice me again... "Uhhmm, no..." Mackenzie had hesitated, almost like she had remembered me, but then forgot. "I'm an only child." "Oh ok..." That little conversation gave me hope, then quickly crushed every ounce of it. About 5 minutes later it looked like everybody was ready to go. But, after spending some time realizing I was forgotten I suddenly remembered I was still in my costume. So, I moved towards the changing room.  "Since it looks like everybody is ready I have decided to take you all to...an ice cream parlor to celebrate! I don't usually do this, so enjoy it!" Abby announced. Everybody seemed to be excited about it. "Awh man, I don't wanna be left behind." I whined. I quickly changed into a white t-shirt with a red star made of glitter. The team started for the hallway while I was grabbing a pair of dark blue jeggings. I pulled my ALDC jacket over my shirt. After I finished changing I caught up with the team in the hallway. I quickly sprinted down the long hallway and caught up with the team. When I got close to someone, Kalani, I wanted to put my arm on her shoulder. I knew they had forgotten me but at least I could still be around. So, I raised my arm, lowered it onto her shoulder and hoped she would notice me if I did this. But instead, I fell right through her and crashed into the floor. "This is worse than I thought..." I mumbled to myself. "I-it's like...I'm a ghost..." At this point I had lost all hope I had of getting their attention. I'm a forgotten girl, now a ghost that nobody sees. I had still followed the team though. By now we were in the street heading for an ice cream parlor across the street although, I had slowed down. I ran towards the front of the team and just stop, they didn't hesitate to continue walking and went right through my ghostly body. I didn't what came over me but I just threw myself into the middle of the street and exploded into tears. Cars went through me. They got to where they were going... This dream of a perfect competition had become a full on nightmare for me. In my song it says, "I'm far from forgotten..." Well, now I was nothing but forgotten. After crying for what seemed like forever, I stood up. I had saw a car coming in my direction with a light as bright as train light they have at night. The car was now seconds aways from me. 10, 9, 8, the light got even brighter. 7, 6, it was all I could see, the light had consumed everything in my vision. 5, 4, I was ready for anything. 3, 2, I braved my self for contact if necessary. 1, at this last second I had bent down and shielded my eyes. Bam! The light consumed everything, including me, and with that I jolted upright, now awake and out of breath. I looked over at my pillow find a larger than normal stain from the tears I had while was dreaming. Sweat trickled my forehead and my body was trembling. So, I walked downstairs, had a glass of water and went back to sleep. Except this new dream of mine was just me standing in darkness. That was pretty much what I dreamed about the rest of the night, me moving around in a pool of darkness clueless of where to go. Then when I had finally found something, my phone on the ground my mom had woken me up to get ready for school.
