- Chapter Thirty -

I closed my eyes and let out a sigh as I pressed the back of my head against the concrete wall.

I've lost count of how long I'd been in here now and to be honest, I didn't care how long had past. I was just surprised to still be alive at the moment.

I'm guessing that only about 3 days had past but with no windows or information from the outside world, I had no way of telling what time it was or whether it was night or day.

"If you're going to keep someone captive you should at least give them something to do so they don't die of boredom." I snapped, aiming the comment at Red Eyes who seemed to be my personal guard dog during my stay.

"Maybe that's our intent." He snapped back, the familiar red eyes appearing through the bars as he glared at me. I stared back, my teeth clenching before slowly turning my head away, not caring enough to reply.

His eyes were no longer threatening but more of a nuisance now. To me, he seemed as threatening as a teddy bear since he obviously had strict orders not to harm me because he made a ton of threats nearly every day but never followed through with them.

"Dickhead." I simply muttered, laying my legs out in front of me, occupying myself with staring at my converse, trying to figure out whether they were white or grey before they became worn.

I heard him grumble something from behind the door but I simply rolled my eyes. I pulled my leg up to my chest and started to untie my shoelace, only for me to redo it.

This is the extreme lengths you will go to when you're stuck in a cell with nothing better to do. They didn't even give me a book to read when I asked for one. They simply snorted and walked away, dumping my food through the small little flap that barely let my hand fit through.

The only communication I had with anyone else apart from Red Eyes was when someone came to deliver my food three times a day. But it seemed to be a different person everyday.

I was just pulling off my converse in an attempt to start playing a mini game of basketball with it when a large metallic clanking sound caught my attention. I frowned, my arm raised in mid air as I clutched my shoe while I turned to the door.

"Can you keep it down out there? I'm trying to play football." I snapped before quietly snickering at my own joke. Get it? Football? Because it's my shoe..? And I was going to play ball..? No? Fine.

I didn't get a retaliation from Red Eyes like I expected which caused me to become slightly curious. He always had a retaliation. Shoving my converse onto my foot but leaving it untied, I pushed myself up from the floor with a slight groan.

"Cat got your tongue or something?" I taunted, stretching out my arms slightly as I screwed up my eyes, enjoying the pleasant burning sensation as it spread through my body. I frowned once again when I got no response and pressed my hands against the wooden door as I peered through the metal bars.

My eyes widened slightly as I saw a silhouette at the end of the corridor, the figure's bodily figure being illuminated from the bright yellow light shining from behind and through the large doorway.

Suddenly a large growl echoed around the small corridor, I frowned and looked down at my hands as I felt the growl vibrate through the door and floor.

"Get away from her." The voice growled back, causing me to frown. I couldn't immediately identify the voice but I still felt comfort from hearing it, despite the threatening tone it held as they growled.

Just as I was about to speak and ask what the hell was going on, Red Eyes' large figure blocked my view as he stood defensively in front of my cell, growling back at the figure, although it was much less intimidating.

"Get back to your room, Mikaelson." He ordered, and even though his tone held a high level of authority I could see that the figure was compeletely unfazed by it as they slammed the door shut behind them and started to storm towards the cell. I gulped quietly, pushing myself away from the door slightly and standing back, not liking the tense atmosphere that suddenly veiled us.

"I said, get away from her." This time the voice sent a shiver down my spine and I felt myself feeling slightly vulnerable at the ordering and dominant tone. I took in a deep breath as I heard the footsteps getting closer and closer to the door.

How could such a threatening tone feel so familiar and comforting? But despite the small amount of comfort I felt from hearing the voice, I knew that now wouldn't be the best time to ask him who he was because he seemed to be on a rampage. An angry rampage.

"And I said, get back to your room." Red Eyes tried to over-dominate them by deepening his voice and all I could do was raise an eyebrow at his attempt. The patronising tone that laced his words was doing nothing but make want to laugh.

"You tried." I muttered from my position, my eyes widening as I was greeted with deep red eyes that held an anger I couldn't even comprehend. I simply cringed before waving my hand at him in a dismissive but timid manner. "Carry on."

"This is your last worning Li-" My eyes widened as a sickening crack could be heard from the other side of the door, followed by a roar of pain. I stumbled back, my hands flattening against the cold concrete as I pursed my lips together and pushed myself against the wall. Whatever was happening out there, for once, I didn't want to be a part of it.

"You little shit." Red Eyes growled before the sound of a body slamming against something extremely solid echoed around my small cell.

"Jesus Christ." I muttered as I saw Red Eyes' eyes appear inbetween the bars of my cell.

"Get out." He mumbled before my cell door swung open, revealing the large and burly figure that the Red Eyes belonged to. He had black hair that was neatly combed back and was wearing a black shirt that clung to him tightly. I shakily pushed myself away from the wall, the fear starting to radiate through my body at the sight of him.

He was definitely more intimidating than I first anticipated and I sort of regretted antagonizing him as much as I did because if he had followed through with his threats, I'd be nothing but a pulp on the floor.

As I reached the door, he glared down at me, the slight stubble on his chin more obvious now as I edged slowly and carefully out the door, scurting past him awkwardly and diving under his massive arm as he held the door open for me.

As soon as I was out he slammed the door shut, letting our bodies become engulfed in darkness. I gulped but this time it was louder and could be heard. All I could see was the red gleam from my guard's eyes and my arms sub-consciously wrapped around my upper arms in an attempt to regain some comfort.

I was about to open my mouth to ask what he wanted when I felt a prescence behind me, causing me to tense up and shut my mouth immediately. A small whimper fell from my lips as one arm slipped around my waist, gently but quickly turning me in the opposite direction I was facing to face them. I closed my eyes in an attempt not to cry because crying was something I just didn't do.

But right now, I felt violated and vulnerable because: I couldn't see anything, someone had a tight grip on my waist and I could Red Eyes' glare on my back as I felt myself begin to shake.

"Brook."

My eyes snapped open and a huff of air fell from my lips as I flicked my head up to stare at the source of the voice. I felt my entire body relax immediately and allowed myself to fit into his embrace as I saw his white grin gleam through the darkness, his sea blue eyes now becoming obvious in the darkness that surrounded us.

I let out a sigh of relief as his hand pressed to the back of my head, gently pulling it towards his chest as his other hand tugged me closer to him, a small chuckle vibrating through his chest as he leant his chin on top of my head.

"Liam." I grinned, feeling the comfort from his embrace surround me. We stood there for a moment before I frowned and pulled away from him and slapped his chest angrily, scowling at the frown that appeared on his face at my sudden aggression.

"What the hell is going on?"
