03:51, 21 June 2023Once the babies and Joella got released she still felt sore so she had to continue to relax and not do any heavy activities and she didn't like it too much. She thought things would be able to go back to being somewhat normal but she thought wrong.
She woke up and noticed it was the middle of the night. She then noticed Matt wasn't in the bed so she slowly and carefully got out of bed and walked out to find where he was. As she quietly walked down the hallway, she heard soft singing coming from the twins room so she peaked in. The sight in front of her made he smile, Matt sat in the rocking chair, holding Nyla and softly singing as he gently rocked her.
"Don't speak, no use for words. Lie in my arms, sleep secure. I wonder what you're dreaming of, lands rare and far, A timeless flight to reach the stars. A lifetime full of words to say, A hope that time will slow the passing day."
At that moment, she wished she would have had her phone in her hand to capture that moment but unfortunately she didn't think to grab it.
"Keep that up and you're going to make her a daddy's girl." Joella smiled as she walked into the room once he was done with the song.
He looks up and smiles at her, "And that's a bad thing?"
"Not at all." She shook her head and rubbed her hand over his head.
"Good." He gently lays Nyla back into her crib then goes to Joella and leads her out of the room so they don't wake them up. "So what are you doing out of bed?"
She shrugged, "I woke up then seen you weren't there so wanted to make sure everything was okay."
"It is, she woke up so I went and got her before she woke up Kingsley. I changed her diaper and fed her but she still was wide awake so I sung her back to sleep."
"You're such an amazing dad already." Joella beamed and kissed him.
"I try, so far it's not as hard as I thought it'd be."
She quickly put her finger to his lips, "Shh don't jinx us." She then grabbed his hand, "Come on let's go back to bed."
But before they could even take a step, it was Kingsley's turn to wake up.
"You go, I've got this handled." He smiled and kissed her cheek.
"But you took care of Nyla, now it's my turn."
He shook his head "It's fine, you carried them all those months, got yourself cut opened to deliver them so it's the least dad can do while you go back to bed." He said quickly, patted her on the butt and then went into the room before she could object.
She sighed and did just that because she knew it'd be a waste of breath to argue with him and she also didn't want Kingsley to wake up his sister while they fought over who was going to get him.
"Come on lil man. Let's get you cleaned up and fed. We don't want to wake up your sister. Daddy just got her back to sleep." He said as he picked up and craddled him in his arms.
After grabbing the wipes and a diaper he took him downstairs. As he warmed up a bottle he took that opportunity to change his diaper.
"Oh gross man." He grimaced when he opened the diaper and it was loaded with poop, "Fuck, no wonder you're crying. I would be too with that much shit in my diaper." He began cleaning him up, "And I thought us grown men were bad, how can something so tiny produce so much crap is beyond me." He chuckled, shaking his head.
Once he got him cleaned up, he wrapped him back up.
"There all better." But Kingsley still wasn't happy, "Let's get you fed now." He cradled him and carried him into the kitchen.
But as he walked through the doorway, his hit his elbow on the doorway.
"Shit! Son of a bitch." He groaned out, which all caused Kingsley to cry more from being startled.
Hearing the thump sound, Matt's voice and Kingsley crying more, caused Joella to fly downstairs real fast.
"Shh you're okay lil man, daddy's sorry." He cuddled Kingsley closer to his chest.
"What the hell just happened?! What did you do?!"
"Babe, it's okay. Everything is fine. I bumped my elbow on the door frame and it scared him. He's fine see." He held him up some as he grabbed the bottle.
She let out a breath of air as she holds her lower stomach, "Oh thank God."
"Ells, shit, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you both and rushing down here you hurt yourself." He frowned and kissed her.
"It's okay, mistakes happen."
"Come on, instead of going up the stairs, go lay on the couch and I'll bring something to ease the pain and make sure your stitches are okay." He motioned to the living room with his head.
"First give me our son." She gave him a stern look as she held out her arms.
"I've got him, you go rest. I'll be there in a second."
"Seriously?! I want my, our damn son. This way you can safely bring me something. How hard is that to comprehend?" She groaned out.
She was getting frustrated because he always wanted her rest when she was awake and she never got much chance to bond with the twins like he has been able to. She even resorted to trying to take her pain meds less because they were making her sleepy.
"But babe-"
"No, I'm sick of this crap. It's bad enough I still can't do shit around the house let alone not getting to bond with them too. Just because I've got this damn incision in my stomach doesn't mean I can't help take care of them too. I appreciate you taking care of me I do but please let me do things too. You're constantly not letting me do anything but fucking lay around and I'm tired of it. I can still help with the babies, they're my babies too! Now give him here." She don't know why but as she was talking, tears had formed in her eyes.
"Babe, I'm sorry." He carefully hands him over, "I'm not trying to keep you from helping. I just don't want you to overexert yourself that's all."
"I won't, for God sake the doctor said just don't lift anything heavier than what they weigh. But it's better for me to be somewhat active than actually laying around all the damn time." She groaned then went into the living room.
Matt sighed as he went over to the sink, holding onto it he closed his eyes has he held his head down. He felt bad because it was almost Kingsley's head that hit the doorframe, he should have been paying more attention, he thought to himself. After talking a deep breath, he went and grabbed her medicine along with more bandages just in case and a heating pad.
When he walked into the living room she was stretched out with Kingsley laying on her chest and lightly patting his back with her eyes closed.
Smiling, he lightly kissed her forehead and she instantly opened her eyes.
"I'm not asleep."
"I didn't think you were especially since your hand was still moving on his back. Let's check out your stitches." He moved down and lifted her shirt some.
Luckily in her quick movement, she didn't tear them but it did bleed a little more so he had to clean it and re-bandage.
"Here." He hands her some painkillers.
Sighing she decided to take some.
"He's back asleep, can you lay him up in bed? I actually don't feel like climbing the stairs."
"Of course." He nodded.
He took him upstairs and laid him down in bed then came back downstairs.
"Lay with me." She laid on her side and patted the spot in front of her.
He just nodded and laid down with her then they started cuddling.
"I'm sorry baby." He kissed her forehead, "I'm sorry for making it feel like I'm always making you do nothing but relax while I do everything. And I'm sorry for scaring you with the bumping of my elbow. It scared me too really, I mean what if my elbow wasn't what bumped into the doorframe. Kingsley could have been seriously injured if it was his head." He sighed.
"It's okay, the important thing is it wasn't and it's a waste of time to think about the what if. You're both fine, and that's what's important."
