Chapter 5: The House and the Rooms

The small family dried their eyes, signed the contract and headed to their relatively large house.

"Woah." Harry whispered, forgetting he wasn't supposed to speak unless told, he shut his mouth.

Sirius and Remus didn't seem to mind though, they simply smiled that Harry would get to have an actual room.

They had a large room picked out for him and tommarrow, they were going to shop for clothes, bedding and many other things Harry needs.

"Ok Harry, this is our house and you will live in it with us, it's your home now." Remus explained once they were close.

"You mean, until you don't want me anymore?" Harry asked sadly. He was sure Remus and Sirius wouldn't want him forever.

Sirius frowned and placed a hand on Harry's shoulder, making him violently flinch away in fear.

"Sorry, but Harry you must understand that we're never going to leave you, you will live us forever." Sirius said softly.

Harry looked up in wonder. "Really?" He asked hopefully. Both godfathers nodded and offered a smile.

They turn went into the house and Harry was amazed. He'd never seen such a big house in all his life!

"Ok Harry, let us show you around, I know it's kind of big isn't it?" Remus asked with a laugh.

Harry nodded in agreement. "Your house is huge!" He exclaimed without thinking, making them laugh.

"This is the living room, you can sit anywhere you like!" Remus explained. Harry took it all in.

There was a large couch, a few comfy chairs, a coffee table with books and a huge bookshelf as tall as Remus himself.

"This is the kitchen, and there is plenty of food, so if you get hungry, help yourself." Sirius said.

Harry nodded a bit but was unsure. Food costs money, and he didn't want Sirius and Remus spending money on him.

Next, they went to the bathrooms. Their were two of them and they both had bathtubs and of course, sinks and toilets.

Then, they went to the bedrooms. Harry smiled. His godfather's room was pretty big. He was sure he got the smallest room.

"Ok Harry, ready to see your room?" Remus asked, excitement rushing through him. He knew Harry would love it.

Harry nodded miserably as they passed a closet, he whimpered and moved back. Remus noticed.

"Don't worry Harry, this is only the closet, all that's in there are coats and stuff for winter, we'd never put you in a closet."

Harry nodded as they turned to a relatively room. "This is your room, we hope you like it."

Harry opened the door gasped. He had the biggest room in the house! It was even bigger than his godfather's room!

There was a brightly colored rug,  a large dresser, a closet, a huge toy chest with teddy bears on it and a lot more!

"It's not much yet, but soon you'll have all kinds of stuff to play with and clothes to wear." Remus told him.

"Really?" Harry asked in shock. "Yes, we are going to a shop tommarrow so we can buy things for your room!"

Harry smiled widely. "T-Thank you sirs!" He said shyly. Remus and Sirius smiled. They never saw Harry so happy.

"Your very welcome Harry, your living with us now so we're willing to give you anything you like." Sirius replied.

"So Harry, what color could you like the walls to be?" Remus asked, referring to the plain, white walls.

Harry froze in place. Were they asking his opinion? Was he allowed to make a decision?

"Harry?" Remus coaxed gently to bring him out of his thoughts. Harry practically jumped in the air.

"U-Um, am I a-allowed to make a d-decision sirs?" Harry stuttered, suddenly nervous. Remus nodded.

"Of course, and remember you don't have to call us sir." Remus reminded gently. Harry blushed.

"Um, I like the color r-red." Harry whispered. "And blue, is that um ok?" He mumbled, afraid to make the decision.

"Red and blue it is, good choices Harry." Remus encouraged. He pulled out his wand and instantly the walls changed color.

"You know, my favorite color is blue as well!" Sirius told Harry, winking a bit. Harry smiled.

"Alright, Harry are you hungry?" Remus asked once he finished the walls. Harry froze again.

"Um, maybe a little." Harry whispered. He was starving, but he didn't want to be a bother.

At that exact moment, his tummy growled noisily, making Harry blush as he knew they heard it.

"Harry, when was the last time you've eaten? Sirius asked, almost afraid to hear his reply.

Harry thought a moment. Today was Monday and he hadn't eaten since last Tuesday. No wonder he was so hungry.

"Um, 6 days ago." Harry responded. Both godfathers let out a quiet gasp of shock.

"And what did you eat?" Sirius asked, his voice shaking in disbelief and worry.

"I had some old fruit that was expired and the Dursleys didn't want them, they were fuzzy and yucky though." Harry whispered.

Rage filled Remus. They fed him once a week and all he got was moldy fruit? It was despicable.

"Come Harry, let's go see what you would like to eat for dinner." Remus said, guiding Harry to the kitchen with Remus grumbling behind them.

"Is Sirius mad at me?" Harry whispered to Remus. Sirius heard and sighed.

"I'm not mad at you Harry, I'm angry at those bloody muggles who starved you." He explained calmly.

Remus have him a look for swearing in front of Harry, who looked like he saw a ghost. Sirius was mad, and it was his fault.

Sirius noticed Harry's frightened face and attempted to give him a hug, but Harry kept backing away.

"It's ok Harry, I promise I'm not mad anymore or at you, I will never get mad at you." He said gently.

Harry uneasily stood up and took Sirius's outstretched hand to help him up. Then they all went into the kitchen.

"Harry, we have plenty of food so you can have anything you want, ok?" Remus asked the tiny boy.

Harry nodded uncertainly. He didn't like making decisions. What if he gave the wrong answer? What if they hit him?

"Harry?" Remus said carefully, noticing the boy was having a hard time deciding what to eat.

"How about some yummy pasta?" Sirius suggested exitedly as he just found some Ravioli pasta stuff with cheese and sauce.

Harry smiled, feeling happy that he didn't have to decide on his own. "Yes please." Harry whispered.

So, with a wave of Sirius's wand, the pasta appeared cooked and in steaming bowls. He also added some garlic bread and fresh fruit.

Harry soon was sitting in a high chair (He's the size of a 1-year-old) and had his bowl piled with pasta. He was also given a bowl of different fruits and garlic bread.

He was amazed. He'd never seen so much food at once before and he was starving. Still, he waited until his godfathers filled their bowls and they were sitting.

They looked at him confused, seeing he hadn't yet touched his plate. "Harry?" Remus said gently. "You can eat if you want."

Harry jumped a bit and looked at Remus hopefully. "I'm allowed to eat when you eat? I don't have to wait until you're done?"

Harry knew that when he was at the Dursleys, and they were eating dinner, Harry couldn't eat until everyone was done.

Remus shook his head. "Of course not Harry, you can eat with us and you don't have to wait." He said gently.

Harry cautiously picked up his fork and ate. He ate and ate and ate. Soon, his godfathers were finished eating.

Harry sadly put his fork down. He'd barely made a dent in his food and they were already done! Harry was a very slow eater.

"Harry?" Sirius exclaimed. "Are you full?" He asked. Harry shook his head and tears came to his bright green eyes.

"Harry, you can keep eating if your still hungry, you don't have to stop because we stopped." Remus explained.

Harry smiled. He understood. "I don't?" He asked cautiously just to make sure. Remus smiled back.

"No, you can take however long you need to do anything, we will never let you starve or not let you get enough sleep." Remus replied happily.

Harry smiled a little and continued eating his pasta until it was gone. He then moved on to the garlic bread. It was delicious!

He then went to eat the fruit and paused. It didn't look right to him. He decided to ask Remus.

"Um sir?" Harry whispered. Remus turned and nodded, motioning for him to continue.

"Uh, it's no trouble but I um I think this is fruit is um rotten." Harry spoke shakily. Remus looked confused for the a moment.

"Hmmm, are you sure Harry?" He asked as he looked at it closely for mold or black spots.

"Yes sir, um at the Dursleys, the fruit they gave me was really fuzzy and white, this fruit looks different." Harry explained.

Remus suddenly realized that Harry has never eaten good fruit before. The kind he used to eat was moldy and rotting, and Harry had gotten used to the taste.

"Harry, the fruit you ate at the Dursleys was very bad, the ones here are very good, I think you'll like them more than the other ones." Remus explained.

Harry took an apple from bowl and took a bite. A smile came to his face as he ate it. It was better then the ones at the Dursleys!

Harry ate more and more fruit. After about an hour, his plate was clean and he was stuffed.

"Um sir, I'm full." Harry whispered nervously. He ate mostly everything but a few pieces of fruit.

Sirius and Remus smiled. "That perfectly fine Harry, you can stop if your full." Sirius exclaimed.

Harry smiled and brought his plates to the sink and started washing them. Remus frowned.

"Harry, you don't have to do the dishes, you can go watch television while we do it, it's our job." He said gently.

Harry stopped washing and smiled. "Really?" He asked. "The Dursleys always made me clean up after meals."

"You don't have to do anything like that here Harry, you can go watch TV in the living room." Sirius explained with a grin.

Harry obeyed and sat in the big, soft chair and turned on the TV. He smiled as he found a cartoon with a dog.

He was never allowed to watch television at the Dursleys but Dudley got to all the time. Harry enjoyed cartoons, he decided.

After Sirius and Remus finished the dishes, they went to check on Harry and found him intently watching a cartoon.

They smiled.

Harry was getting used to his new life.
