Rey's POV:
It's a month living in the quarters of the First Order. Kylo made sure I was cut off from any news relating to the Republic and any contact with anyone that wasn't him. He had me training day and night, never granting me a day of rest. I was becoming stronger with every day that passed, but also more confused. He never once hinted of his knowledge of Snoke's plan or of his desire to bring me any harm, he normally kept his distance.
When I tried thanking him for the room, he simply told me not to worry about it. He seemed more and more drained as each day went past. Something was going on, but whenever I asked he'd shut me out. He hardly ever took his mask off and when he did he avoided eye contact with me.
These past days have made me realize something, I wouldn't be able to escape alone, I wasn't strong enough on my own. I would need Kylo's help and the only way was to embrace the light that still lived in him. If I could show him that he was still capable of good, maybe I could bring him back to the Republic, back to his mother. It would be a challenge, but I was my only hope of ever getting out of here.
I was currently getting ready to leave. Kylo wanted me ready, saying today would be a long day filled with complicated tasks.
There was a soft knock on the door, I assumed it was Kylo so I rushed to open it. There he stood in his black attire, but without the mask. He took a quick glance at me, but directed his eyes to the ground as usual.
"You ready t-to go?" He asked in a shaky voice.
"Yeah, let's go." I stepped out and closed the door before following after him. Today was hopefully the day I'd finish constructing my own lightsaber. Kylo had been aiding me in collecting all the necessary materials to design it.
Kylo had me meditating on the self-made crystal with the Force to guide the formation and increase its potency. The dim colored room where we first trained had become our own little sanctuary where no one could interrupt us.
There was something off about him. There were dark circles forming beneath his eyes and his walking was uneven.
"Kylo are you okay?" I pried.
"Yes," he slightly looked back, but continued walking.
He was limping.
"No Kylo, you're not. Tell me what's wrong." I begged.
He completely turned around and searched in every direction that no one was near."We can't talk about this out in the open." He muttered while taking a hold of my hand and dragging me down the staircase and into our space.
"I've been training again," he spoke softly.
"With Snoke?" I questioned.
"No...by myself," he responded.
"Why?" I furthered questioned.
"You ask too many questions," he chuckled.
I didn't find it amusing though, I was tired of being left in the dark. His smile soon disappeared and was replaced with a scowl. "You already know why Rey. You've known Snoke's plan of replacing me as long as I have. Yet I'm not worried you'll accept his offer."
"What if I did?," I challenged.
He closed the space in between us, his lips near my ear. The fact that he was only mere inches from me made my body tingle all over.
"Don't tell me you've been seduced by the darkness already. That it's already pulsing through your veins, luring you to embrace it."
His lips abandoned my ear, passed the nape of my neck, and stopped only mere inches from my lips. The warmth of his breath floating across my skin. My heart was pounding, my breath hitched and our eyes connected. His hands hovered slightly above my waist almost coming in contact with my skin. Every inch that he came closer electrified me more and more. In that moment I could've sworn he was about to kiss me, but then he pulled away leaving me at a loss for air.
"Let's get back to work," he spoke without a single hint of breathlessness. How could he collect himself so easily? He had to be feeling what I felt. That sudden burst of energy, that tug of emotions that could only be controlled with a touch. It's like he hadn't felt any of it at all.
"Rey, come finish building your lightsaber,"he ordered.
"No..." I faintly spoke.
"What?" He asked.
"No!"I repeated.
I snatched the bag of materials away from him before rushing out.
"Rey wait," he called out.
I ignored him and continued making my way up the staircase and down the passageway. I could hear the echo of his footsteps coming after mine. I hurried along the corridors and down the last corner before meeting with room and slamming the door with his foot stuck right in between.
He yelped out in pain before stumbling back and tripping over his feet.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," I repeated multiple times.
"Just help me up," he bid. I hovered above him, cross armed and waiting for a nicer request than his normal commands which were driving me nuts. "Please," he added.
I crouched down and extended both hands to help him up, but he grunted in pain as I aided him back onto his feet and to one of the sofas in the living room. I searched around for the injury causing him a large amount of pain until I noticed small drops of blood seeping through the hem of his pants.
"Kylo you're bleeding," he shifted in discomfort attempting to hide the obvious cut.
"Kylo let me see it," I ordered. He shook his head and moved farther from me, "stop being such a baby and let me see it already."
I grasped the ends of his pants, extending his bleeding leg across the table and place a cushioned pillow under his foot. I gently lifted the hem only to gasp at the large gash that ran across his left leg, it was heavily infected.
"How did this happen?" I interrogated.
"I slit my leg during training," he answered.
"Did this happen last night?" I continued questioning.
"No, a couple of nights ago," he responded.
"Don't move, I'll be right back." I rushed to the bathroom in search for bandages, washcloth, and alcohol to disinfect it. I pulled out a small bucket of water and filled it up with hot water.
I balanced the items successfully out of the bathroom and into the living room.
Kylo now laid on the sofa and small droplets of sweat forms around his forehead, he was paper than usual which could possibly be a symptom of a fever coming on.
I carefully spread the the materials neatly across the table and grabbed a couple of bandages and began using them to apply pressure on his leg to stop the bleeding. He tightly closed his eyes and looked away in attempt of concealing his agony. After a several minutes of applying pressure, the bleeding finally came to a halt. I tossed the bloody bandages aside and began soaking the washcloth in hot water. I gently cleaned off any bloodstains surrounding the cut to get a better picture of where the infection really began.
"This might sting a little," I warned before placing the cloth soaked in alcohol above his wound to disinfect it.
"ARGH!!" he cried out. I struggled to keep him in place while I tried to clean the wound.
"If you stay still, I can finish faster," I advised. He made an effort to remain still, but would occasionally pull his leg away begging me to stop and causing me to start over . After it was thoroughly cleansed, I wrapped several bandages across his leg and allowed him to lay back comfortably and rest. He released the great amount of breath he had held back and his tensed muscles finally relaxed.
I stood up once more to fetch a another warm towel to place on his forehead to reduce the fever.
He seemed at peace, like nothing could potentially disrupt his thoughts. It was already late and I felt guilty asking him to leave, vaguely I let him stay and sleep here.
I checked up on him one last time before heading to my bedroom. I carried the bag of materials along with me. I spent a large sum of time finishing the base of my lightsaber. Once it was completed I placed the synth-crystal inside which made it fully operational. I wouldn't ignite it tonight, I would wait until morning to show Kylo the finished product.
In the meantime I changed into sweats and a random t-shirt and slipped into bed. Before I knew I was already drifting off into deep slumber.
Kylo Ren's POV:
"Ben... BEN!" A voice shrieked at me.I searched around for the face of the person who called for me. I couldn't distinguish a single object, everything was dark with a faint spot of light. A breeze swayed through from time to time causing me to shiver. A dark shadow stood in the center and no matter how hard I tried to reach it, something was holding me back.
"BEN!" It shouted again, this time louder than before.
"Are you happy now Ben?"Was killing me really worth it? Did it bring you the satisfaction you longed for?" the voice asked.
"Dad?"I called out.
"No Ben, I stopped being your father a long time ago." Han stepped out from the darkness.
"No, I'm sorry! Please forgive me!" I cried out.
"It's too late for apologies now, Kylo Ren." He turned back and began walking towards the light
"I'm still Ben!," I wailed. "Please stop, I'm still Ben, I'm still me. "
I kept calling out to him in hopes he'd turn around.
"I'm your son Ben!"
All of a sudden I didn't feel the cool breeze attacking me, I felt warm as if someone was embracing me. I came to realize that it was all just a nightmare, but the feeling warm feeling didn't go away. Once I opened by eyes I realized tears had spilled and Rey was beside me comforting me.
"Shhh," she whispered " You're okay, Ben."
Instead of pushing her away as usual, I let her hold me. I needed her now more than ever.
