matt holds kaia tightly and rubs her back under her shirt to soothe her. he kisses her forehead and wipes away her tears, offering a smile.

"i'm really sorry, matt." she sniffles.

"don't worry about it. it's in the past and we're above that now. we're happy, it's okay." he assures her.

"but i just feel horribly for how i treated you. i never should've been with james it fucked up my relationship with you." she apologizes.

"kai, it's okay, really. i'm over it, we don't have to think about that." he brushes the hair out of her face.

"promise?" she smiles weakly.

"promise." he nods.

"i should've been with you this whole time, everyone told me james was gonna hurt me and they were all right." she sighs.

"well you're here with me, now." he smiles.

"i don't want to be with anyone else." she shakes her head.

"me neither. you're perfect for me." he agrees.

"so what do we do?" she asks.

"well, neither of us want to be with anyone else. but, i don't want to rush a relationship if you're not ready yet. i can wait for you." he speaks.

"i'm ready, i know i only want you, matt." she smiles back.

"so you wanna, like, date me?" he questions nervously.

"yes. but you have a different question to ask me." she smiles and nods.

he smiles and shuffles to sit up in bed, reaching over her and grabbing one of his rings he discarded on his nightstand.

he holds the ring in his hands like a proposal and gets on one knee on his mattress.

"will you be my girlfriend?" he smiles as big as ever.

"ugh, if i have to." she smiles and rolls her eyes sarcastically.

"hey." he furrows his eyebrows.

"sorry, sorry. yes, of course i would love to, matt." she apologizes and sits up, nodding.

he playfully puts the ring on her finger and swoops her into a huge hug. she smiles against his shoulder and hugs him back. he pushes his lips into hers and falls back into the mattress with her.

she holds both sides of his face and pulls him deeper into the kiss. they seperate and smile at eachother.

"i love you." matt says.

"i love you more." she smiles.

"good. i'm still tired." he laughs.

"me too." she nods in agreement, pulling the blanket up over both their bodies and snuggles into him.

"goodnight." he whispers.

"goodnight." she replies.

they fall back asleep and at this point, it's a little past 9am. they sleep until 1:30 when justin knocks on the door to wake them up for lunch.

he opens matt's door and his eyes widen in surprise when he sees them sleeping together. the last justin saw kaia was around the time her and james broke up. he had no idea they were speaking again let alone cuddling.

"guys, food's ready." he says to them.

matt groggily wakes up and sees justin at the door and furrows his eyebrows.

"what?" he asks in his morning voice.

"lunch." justin repeats.

"okay, give me a minute." matt lays his head back on the pillow.

justin smiles and closes matt's door and leaves.

kaia wakes up from the sound of the door shutting and sits up, rubbing her eyes.

"you awake?" she asks matt quietly.

"yeah." he responds, his eyes still closed.

"are you hungry?" she asks.

"mhm." he nods.

"wake up." she pecks his lips and urges him to get up.

he kisses her back and groans, rubbing his eyes and sitting up next to kaia.

"i'm gonna shower, you can go eat if you want." matt says, getting up out of his bed and walking to his closet to get clean clothes.

"okay." she nods, standing up out of bed and running her hands through her hair.

matt smiles, taking his clothes and deodorant into his bathroom, shutting the door.

she takes her sweatsuit off and throws on a pair of pyjama shorts and a large tshirt out of matt's closet.

her hair still messy, she leaves his bedroom and goes downstairs, entering the kitchen and seeing everyone around the table eating lunch.

"good morning, sleepy head." chloe laughs.

"morning." she responds, yawning and sitting next to chris at the table.

"how'd you sleep?" nick asks.

"decent. had a bad dream again, though." she shrugs.

"about the driveway again?" chloe asks.

"yeah." she nods.

"you'll be okay, it's in the past." chloe assures her.

"i know." kaia agrees.

she grabs a plate of food from the middle of the table and eats while scrolling on her phone.

"anything you wanna do today?" chris asks her.

"not really. my first day as a girlfriend." she smiles, taking another bite and looking around at everyone nervously.

"WHAT?!" they all gasp simultaneously.

she shrugs and smiles, chloe grabs her shoulder.

"kaia!" she shouts.

"what?" she asks innocently.

"since when?" she asks.

"a few hours ago." kaia answers calmly.

matt walks into the kitchen after his shower to see them all shouting at kaia.

"what's going on?" matt asks, laughing.

"have something to tell us, matthew?" chris questions.

"no?" he furrows his eyebrows.

"no, updates? you wanna tell us?" nick asks.

"what did you tell them, kaia?" he chuckles.

"nothing really." she shrugs.

"YOU TWO ARE DATING?!" nate finally breaks.

matt chokes on his gum and kaia laughs, covering her mouth.

"so?" matt asks, sitting next to kaia at the table.

"so? it was gonna be a secret?" chris asks, annoyed.

"no, we were gonna tell you probably this week." matt answers.

"i thought it would be funny to say it now." kaia apologizes.

"yeah, that's fine." matt nods.

"i'm so happy." chloe smiles.

"me too." nick, chris, and nathan all say at the same time.

"i'm glad? i guess?" kaia laughs.

"don't make a huge deal out of it." matt warns everyone.

"we won't, we won't." chloe and chris glance at eachother.

"wanna go walk around walmart?" matt suggests.

"yes, great idea." kaia agrees, putting a hand on his shoulder to walk her lunch dishes to the sink.

chris, nathan, chloe, and nick are all already ready and wait in the car for matt and kaia.

"they're gonna be so dramatic." kaia says to matt as they're both putting their shoes on.

"oh, trust me, i know." matt nods.

matt presses a soft loving kiss to kaia's lips before leaving the house and joining everyone in the car.
