"can we go get food?" chris asks, breaking the silence of everyone watching tv on the couch.

"we just got groceries, chris." chloe laughs.

"chipotle?" chris practically begs.

"yes!" kaia shoots up out of her seat and runs to the door.

matt smiles and stands up to start the car. chloe rolls her eyes and follows everyone to the front door.

they drive to chipotle and sit in the parking lot to eat after they order inside.

"we need to start eating healthy." kaia says, taking a bite of her burrito.

"you say that every week." chloe laughs.

"i mean it, but i don't intend on actually doing it." kaia responds.

"nick always says the same thing." matt shrugs, eating his food.

"shut the fuck up, matt." nick rolls his eyes.

they finish eating and sit to chat for a bit before a gay motorcycle gang won't shut the fuck up, so they leave.

matt drives home and everyone goes inside to play video games together. nate loads up mario party and they take turns.

kaia gets a facetime from her mom and leaves to sit on the stairs to talk to her.

kaia hangs up the phone and breathes deeply. she looks up and sees matt approaching her.

"everything good?" he asks, sitting next to her on the stairs.

"willow just wanted to say hi." she says.

"i miss that kid." he responds.

"she just called me kai." she smiles and looks at matt.

he scratches his neck and looks around awkwardly.

"said she heard it from you." kaia laughs.

"oopsies." he laughs, too.

"it's okay." she shrugs.

"can we talk about last night?" matt asks.

"about the kiss?" she lowers her voice.

"yeah. i wanted to apologize, you were drunk and i shouldn't have done that." he speaks quietly.

"i still chose to do it, too." she looks at him.

"so you were okay with it? i know with what happened last time it didn't go well and i've been stressing about it all night if you were gonna be mad at me again." matt sighs.

"last time was different. everything with james fucked it up for us, but ask chloe, i wanted to kiss you back the whole time." she reassures him.

"really? the time in the car?" he asks, surprised.

"yeah. i had dreams about it for weeks but i could never tell anyone other than chloe. i've been going insane." she admits.

"i had dreams about it, too." he smiles.

"really?" she smiles.

"well, yeah. i'd overthink it when i was awake so much that it was all i dreamt about." he nods.

"i'm glad i can talk to you again." she says.

"me too." he agrees.

"sorry if i made you uncomfortable last night with asking you to stay with me. when i'm drunk i always fall asleep with chloe, i'm just used to sleeping next to someone." she apologizes.

"don't worry about it. it felt like old times again." he smiles.

"so we're all good? no more fighting and ignoring eachother?" she asks.

"never again, please." he laughs.

"i don't think i could handle that a second time." she shakes her head.

"me neither. it felt horrible." he agrees.

"just out of curiosity, what did the kiss mean to you?" she asks.

"i'm not sure. i mean, we already talked about our feelings, i guess i was just trying to prove it to you." he shrugs.

"figured." she turns her face away shyly.

"why?" he asks.

"i don't know. i haven't stopped thinking about it." she says.

"i wonder what chris and chloe thought." he questions.

"i wonder if they told nick and nathan." she laughs.

"i wouldn't be surprised." he says.

"so what do we do?" she asks, turning her full attention to him.

"about what?" he asks.

"like, the kiss, the sharing beds, i don't know. are we back to friends?" she questions.

"i mean, i hope not just friends, but, yeah, i guess." he answers.

"what do you want then?" she looks at him.

"time to build things back and then we can talk about things seriously." he replies.

"so, no more kissing or sharing beds until then?" she smiles.

"well, we don't need to torture ourselves." he laughs.

she laughs back and smiles, making eye contact with him. he closes the space between them and kisses her, pulling back after a couple seconds.

kaia stands up off the stairs and grabs his hand to lead him back to the living room with everyone else.

they sit down together on the couch and matt throws an arm around her shoulder while they laugh and watch their friends struggle to play mario party.
