INTERLUDE TO STORY:

-February 23rd, 1998-

*Marshall's POV*

I've waited day in and day out for this moment and it was finally here. Tonight marked the night that I fly out to LA and meet with one of my all time favorite rappers, Dr Dre. There was nothing anyone could say or do to ruin my mood. I was hype as fuck. Everyone could sense it. I mean, my excitement was just pouring out of me like sunshine through fine white linen, practically glowing from the inside out. Nothing could possibly take away this good feeling. Nothing.

Mark and Jeff had advised me to bring a bunch of shit so that I'd be set for at least two weeks. So I made sure to pack my traveling bag with a week's worth of the most decent looking outfits I owned, which was hard to do considering none of my clothes were even decent looking. On the bright side, a sponsor gave me a free tracksuit since I'm too poor to afford proper clothing. I plan on wearing it the first day that I meet Dre.

The house was packed before I said goodbye. I wanted everyone I loved to be there before I took off.

There was Proof, Tori, Sharonda, the members of Dirty Dozen, my old rap group members; Manix, Chaos Kid, DJ Buttafingaz. And last but not least, both the Bass brothers.

I spent the entire night talking to everyone individually and receiving as much advice as possible. I made a lot of promises too. Promises that I'd keep in case I ever get a deal and become famous. Of course I didn't actually believe it, but hypothetically speaking, I made a few promises. I promised Mark and Jeff and my old rap group Soul Intent that'd I'd never forget any of them or where I came from. I promised all the members of Dirty Dozen that I'd get them a deal and clique up as soon as possible. I promised Tori I'd keep in contact as much as possible and fly her to LA as soon as I could...I also may have promised her that I wouldn't think twice about any of the California bitches. And lastly, I promised Doody that I'd bring him with me as soon as I could too and that I wouldn't let the fame or money get to my head.

But with all that being said, I couldn't help but wonder to myself, what will really happen? I don't know if I'll get famous from this. But if I do, I just know I'll be the shit.
