Attack on Titan: Man Of Courage

19:26, 14 October 2018

I was Outside the Walls at the moment on what felt like an never ending expedition. My entire squad was brutally murdered and eaten alive by the Titans.

I was currently swinging past the trees, flying with my maneuvering gear that was starting to run low on gas. This wasn't good at all. Especially when an eight meter high Titan is right on my tail, chasing after me. Its is going to catch me for its next meal, but not as long as I can help it.

So I kept flying away, using up the majority of my gas to get away. This wasn't good...I won't be able to keep this up for much longer. And that's when it hit me.

I was in the forest of Big Trees…Titans can't climb trees, can they? So I decided to fly uptop one of the wide branches of one of the trees, higher up instead of wasting my gas to only become Titan chow.

I luckily seemed safe….for now. The tree was taller than the eight meter Titan, and I was beyond eight meters high. So the Titan can't reach me, can it?

In classes during my 104th cadet corp years, I came to learn through my studies and our instructor’s lectures, that Titans lack any signs of intelligence. But when it came to Abnormals….they were different.

Abnormal Titans are different from the average Titans. They seem to have some form of intelligence and they seem to be capable of learning and their actions differ. Abnormals are the most dangerous types of Titans out there. They're unpredictable.

And luck seemed to not be on my side today. This eight meter Titan that I encountered was a Abnormal. It is the Titan that ate every single comrade of mine in my squad. It just appeared charging out at us from behind the trees, and started devouring everyone alive while breaking their limbs for the mere pleasure of it.

Titans never feel remorse for killing humans or eating them alive. Titans don't even need to eat anything to survive. But they do it simply because they enjoy it. It's disgusting.

I was the only one who managed to avoid getting grabbed or broken by this Abnormal Titan. For as long as I can remember I've simply been flying away from it in this forest without an end.

But luckily I had enough time to think before becoming half way done with my gas, to perch upon a tall tree. Taller than the eight meter Titan itself. For a while my plan seemed to had worked. But not for long.

The Titan began to step a few feet away from the tree. I tilt my head as I wondered what it was thinking. Was it about to leave? That would be great!

But instead, it lunges it's entire body against the tree with all it's might, and I fell off my feet but managed to grab hold of the branch. I was so close to becoming Titan fodder.

I pulled myself up and began to hug onto the branch for dear life as the Abnormal continued colliding it's strong body against the tree, in an attempt to shake me off it.

I screamed as all seemed hopeless. It had appeared that this was going to be the way I'd die...I would fall into the Titan's grasp, crushed and then swallowed whole and sit in the Titan's stomach for hours until it would vomit me right out.

Titans may swallow us Humans in an attempt to eat us, but they can't digest us. So after hours of having a dead human in it's stomach, it will vomit us out. It's horrible and completely cringey.

But when I almost felt like giving up I heard a voice shout out my name. “Kiyomi?!” I jerk my head up to see a soldier flying towards this direction, passing by trees. It was Armin!

I finally felt safe, I felt like all would turn out just fine. But no. I can't let Armin die brutally like the rest of my squad.

“Armin, run!!” I shouted out. “W-What?!” He calls out in confusion. “Run!! It's an Abnormal, I don't want you to die!”

“Don't be like that! I'm coming to rescue you! There's no way I'm going to run and let you be devoured! I'm not a coward!”

Armin ended up ignoring my pleas and he flies onto the branch to me. “Are you out of gas?” He asked me. “Just about.” I answered.

With that answer, Armin wrapped his arms around my waste and he began to fly us away. But just as I feared, the Abnormal continued it's persistent chase.

“W-Weir…” I was panicking and almost whimpered that we were going to die. But I don't want Armin to die, so I couldn’t finish my words.bi don't want to give Armin bad luck.

“Weir not going to die, trust me.” Armin read my mind perfectly. Sometimes I feel that he knows me too well. But I guess that's the whole reason he's the one I get along with most.

We continued to fly away until we made it out of the Forest Of Big Trees. Armin immediately whistles for his horse Chestnut, who came running right on command. I hopped onto horseback with Armin, wrapped my arms around his waist and we took off.

The Titan was chasing from behind, but Armin manages to get Chestnut to run faster, and eventually the Titan stopped pursuing us. I wonder why though.

I turned my head back to take a look and I can see that the Abnormal had set its sights on another soldier. One without any more maneuvering gas or a horse.

I immediately swip my gaze away, too afraid to even watch. My grip around Armin's waist must have tightened for he placed a hand reassuringly onto my own. “It's alright, Kiyomi. Weir going home.” He spoke to me softly.

So does that mean the fire signal to retreat back inside the Walls was fired? I never even saw or heard it. I must have been deeper inside the Forest Of Big Trees than I thought. And Armin must have went off in search of me. He's so brave and sweet…

“Thank you, Armin.” I thanked him for saving my life today. If he hadn't shown up, I'd likely became Titan fodder.

“N-No problem.” I heard him reply with a shy stutter. I smiled as we headed with the remain surviving Scouts back into the Walls.

The End
