Attack on Titan: Escape From Certain Death/ Mikasa and Kiyomi - Part 2

Everything was black.

Everything was black for a long time.

Her mind felt blank.

But she felt like she heard something….a voice? Someone Calling out to her?

She would eventually try opening her heavy eyes and eventually as her vision cleared up, so did the words the voice that was yelling came more recognizable.

“--omi!”

“Kiyomi!!”

It was Mikasa. She was desperately trying to wake the girl out of her sleep.

“Hey. Are you ok?” She asks in concern.

“M-my head is sore….but...I think i'm ok? Where are we?” Asks Kiyomi as she glanced around at their surroundings, seeing how they are alive.

“You almost got crushed by some rubble, but luckily I tackled and saved you just in time before that would happen. We are trap inside this castle now. Our horses got way to close towards here.” Explains Mikasa.

“Hm…” responds Kiyomi.

She really felt out of it, she almost felt that her mind was still a blank.

She felt like she was forgetting something. Forgetting something….something…..important?

But what could it be? It felt like something very important….to the point it Shouldn't have been possible to forget.

After a while of thinking, Kiyomi’s eyes widened like saucers when she remembered.

It was Armin….and Eren. Both the Boys got caught by a Titans bloody hand….

“Oh god…” Kiyomi clamped a hand at her mouth to keep it shut.

Are those boys...still ok? Are they still alive? They didn't get eaten or tortured by those monsters, did they?

“Did you remember?” asks Mikasa.

“Armin….and Eren….they’re ok….right?” Kiyomi asked very slowly with her voice trembling.

Mikasa was silent for a moment before standing up and offering Kiyomi a hand.

“Let’s go.”

Kiyomi took Mikasa’s hand as she helped her up and began to follow after Mikasa as she lead the way.

Mikasa finds a torch and scraped it against the wall and fire started burning and lit their way.

Kiyomi was silent for a long while. But she felt heavy. The sight of Armin and Eren in the hands of that Titan was still frozen in her mind…

“Um...Mikasa?” she starts once again.

“Do you...think they’re ok?”

Mikasa immediately answers…

“Whether Armin and Eren are ok….is not the issue right now. All we need to focus ourselves on is surviving and finding a way out.”

“Yeah...I know. Sorry.” Kiyomi apologises for asking. She knows that this is just as hard on her as it is for Mikasa.

Mikasa lets out a small sigh.

“It’s ok. In understand how your worried. But try not thinking about it until we escape.”

“Ok.”

So Mikasa keeps leading the way and as the two walked down a dark hall, despite having a light guiding them, suddenly, there is a loud crashing sound coming from afar.

Kiyomi jumps in a startle and Mikasa places a hand near one of her blades.

Suddenly there is  a loud strange sound coming from afar.

“What….w-is...is that a titan?” wonder’s Kiyomi aloud.

“Yeah, it seems like it. Com’on, let’s hurry, I think it know’s weir here.” Mikasa takes the other girl’s hand and the two runs towards another hall, heading to another direction.

But all in the sudden, something really big and heavy blocks the two’s paths.

“Here, help me move this thing!” she says.

The two trys moving it out of the way, but nothing works. It’s as heavy as five rhinos stacked ontop each other.

Mikasa’s strong, but the object in the two’s path’s were way too heavy.

“Darn it-!!” mutters Mikasa.

There is a very loud thumping sound coming closer and closer from behind them.

“Stay back.” says Mikasa as she grabs out a sword and prepares to attack out at the shadows.

“I-Is it a Titan?”

“I think so. Stay back, I got this.” she says.

So Kiyomi decided to just leave it all up to Mikasa. She is strong. Strong enough to be compared to an army or stand on the same level as Levi.

Just as Mikasa predicted, a titan came jumping out, and Mikasa yells a battle cry before climbing herself onto it’s back after dodging it’s attack and cuts off the nape.

The Titan falls to the ground, and Mikasa hops off and walks back over to Kiyomi.

“You're not hurt?”

“No…” she answers.

“Good. let’s keep going.”

Mikasa turns around and starts to head back to the direction they were originally heading from before.

“We can’t move that thing...our only option is to go the way we were going to go at first.”

“Even though….it sounds like even more titans are ahead in that direction?”

“Yes. but i’ll defeat them all. So you can just sit back and watch. No need for you to risk your life.”

…

Kiyomi then stops in her tracks and so does Mikasa as she turns around to face Kiyomi.

“But risking your life...isn’t that what it means to be a soldier?” Kiyomi brings up.

“Look, all I'm trying to say is that you don’t need to worry yourself over any unnecessary fighting. I'm the one who got us in this mess. So I’ll happily clean it up myself. No need for you to get your hands dirty when this isn’t your mess to clean.”

The two began to continue walking ahead.

Mikasa felt that this was all her fault. She was the one who tackled Kiyomi into the wrong direction and got them both stuck in this castle. She simply felt that it was her responsibility.

And besides, she knows how terrified Kiyomi actually feels about the titans. She has heard her screams at night before.

She found out about it from Armin when one day she asked.

Armin told Mikasa how Kiyomi would have nightmares about Titans almost every night in her sleep. He also shared with Mikasa how he would stay with Kiyomi until she could fall asleep without any nightmares.

Mikasa was put at ease, knowing Armin would be there for her whenever she dealt with that….but she felt off.

Kiyomi never once told her about this….she honestly hasn’t told anyone. She has only told Armin.

“um...Kiyomi. can I talk to you? About your nightmares?” starts Mikasa.

“How do you know about me having nightmares?” Kiyomi asked, looking quite surprised.

“Armin told me. I would hear your screams at night and Armin told me about it. You do know that you can tell me anything, and that I can be there with you and help you, right?”

Mikasa was asking Kiyomi if she knew the fact that no matter what she has her back too, and if anything’s ever troubling her or anything at all, she can come and tell Mikasa too.

“Of course. I-I'm sorry for not telling you Mikasa. Really, I am. It’s just….I honestly haven’t told anyone about it. Not even Armin. For the longest time, even Armin didn’t know about my nightmares. I would have nightmares about the Titans, but it wasn’t until I started screaming really bad, Armin noticed. I guess….I just didn’t want to worry anyone is all.”

“Kiyomi, you can trust me and the others. No matter what it is, if something is bothering you or even if doesn't really seem that important….just know that you can rely and tell these kind of things to me. Ok?”

“...Ok” she replies with a small smile.

For some odd reason, there seemed to be a weight that has lifted off her chest. Kiyomi didn’t even know there was something weighing her down all this time. It must have been this. Not telling Mikasa about these things. It made her feel better knowing that Mikasa would be there with her too. Not just Armin. And she’s sure the same thing goes for Eren.

“Thanks...Mikasa.”

“No problem.”
