Attack on Titan x The Hunchback of Notre Dame: Out there/ Part 2

23:57, 14 August 2018

Today was another day in the city of Notre Dame. it was an ordinary day. Everyone was shopping, working, talking, playing and basically just doing what they usually do each day in this city. But no matter how much he watched them, the young hunchback at Notre Dame’s Bell tower never grew bored of watching them.

How lucky they are to be out there….

The Hunchback Quasimodo would think to himself as he watched the people below the Bell tower.

While he didn’t watch the people from below he would turn his gaze to the sky and watch the birds fly off into the sky.

Quasimodo doesn't just wish he could be the people down below...but he also wishes that he could be a bird; which has the luxury to fly and go wherever it wants without needing anyone to tell it where to stay.

And while he didn’t watch the people or the birds outside his window, he would go to his table filled with carvings of the people and city of Notre dame. he's been creating this for years. Whenever there was a new face in the city he would go and make a new sculpture of that person and place it in his carved city.

And while he didn’t watch or work on his carvings he would talk to his “friends”.

He would talk to the Gargoyles whom he was friends with.

They would often try encouraging him to go out into the city despite what his Master Frollo would say because its not like he's ever let him go anyways.

They would always try encouraging Quasimodo to do the things he's dreamed of doing but was also scared to do.

But despite the encouragement, he’s never tried going outside. Whenever he did manage to gain the courage to attempt to head out, before he’d even storm out, he always ran into his Master Frollo and would have to make things up, to convince him that he was not about to leave outside.

So far it was just another ordinary day, nothing unusual or different has happened. But not until now….

There was a boy running through the city’s streets and he kept running up to people begging to know where he was. He would only in return get confused, angry or laughing looks from the people.

He had no idea where he was. Where was he? Where are his friends? Whats happening?

He originally considered this to be a dream but no matter how many times or how hard he would pinch himself, he’d never wake up. So this couldn’t be a dream or nightmare.

As the boy kept asking people he eventually received an answer….he was at a city called “Notre Dame”.

“Notre...Dame?”

He never heard of this place before. It was all new to his ears.

But eventually he heard shouts.

He turned around to see what looked like guards charging towards his direction. Perhaps him asking people about where he was caused some to be suspicious and ask for him to be turned in?

The boy’s expression turned frightful but decided to take a run for it. He ran past crowds, pushed through crowds while apologising and being polite and he eventually found a huge tower. He ran inside and without thinking, charged up the steps and he looked around to see that he was in a room without any doors. A dead end.

He heard the guards downstairs, they apparently didn’t lose sight of him and saw him hurry into this tower.

Their footsteps could be heard darting up the steps, and the boy quickly glanced around the room, in hopes to find a place to hide.

There were piles of boxes stacked by a corner, and he decided to hide behind there.

Soon after, the Guards made it up and scanned the place for the boy. The boy was hoping the entire time that he had found the perfect spot to hide and that they wouldn’t find him.

He ended up being lucky, he wasn't found and eventually the guards spoke to each other, saying how they felt this was all a waste of time and to give up on finding the boy, that they had better things to do.

They ended up leaving and afterwards, the boy sighed in relief, feeling safe and eventually he stood up and walked out from behind the boxes. But then…

“Hey!! Who are you!?” The boy heard a shout and he yelped and swirled around in startelement.

Across the room was the hunchback of Notre Dame. the one that lives inside this Bell tower.

People usually come here to pray or anything other downstairs but nobody is permitted upstairs.

The site of the hunchback scared the poor boy. Especially since, well...he’s a hunchback, his face is deformed and to most who’s never gotten a good look at the guy would probably be scared. Besides, he was basically giving the boy a scary and threatening look.

The boy ends up falling backwards onto his butt and he tries crawling backwards, away.

He really couldn't get a good look at the guy, his face and all was shadowed by darkness from the part of the room he came from.

“P-please! I-im sorry, I didn’t mean to come here--”

“What are you doing up here?! Nobody is permitted up here!! Get out!!!”

The hunchback thus grabbed a lit torch from the side of the wall and started swooshing it around towards the boy.

“N-NOO!!!”

The boy had his hands stretched out, protecting his face from the flames and his eyes were squint shut.

The hunchback stopped, seeing how the boy was cornered, wasn’t going to move and was...well, terrified!

The Hunchback lowered down the torch and stepped back.

He started at the boy and after a few moments of silence the boy opened his eyes to see that he was alright. No flames gashed at him or anything.

He looked over to the Hunchback to only have a better look at his face.

He no longer looked angry or threatening...he actually didn’t look very scary. Maybe his face was a bit messed up from being deformed, but….he didn’t seem as scary as he thought.

“What are you doing up here?” The hunchback ask in a calmer, less threatening tone.

“Um...well, I….I was chased up here by Guards. They left but are after me. I was originally just wondering around the city and asking people about where I was but none really answered me.”

“This is the city of Notre Dame. how could you not know that?”

The Hunchback’s eyes then scrolled down to look at the clothes the boy was wearing. It was quite different from the kind of clothes he seen the people in Notre Dame wear. He must have not been from around here. Besides, this was the first the hunchback has seen the boy before. He at least, didn’t recognize his face.

“Are you...not from around here?” The hunchback asks.

“N-No...I’ve never been here before. but….I’m confused. I’m in a city called Notre Dame”...but wheres home? Where are the walls? Am I….”

“Walls? There's no walls here. Well...maybe inside the Bell tower but outside, your free.” The hunchback replied.

“But…”

“Do you have nowhere else to stay?”

“N-Not really….I think.”

“Hm...what's your name?”

“Armin...Armin Arlert.”

The hunchback sighs heavily.

“Ok, I guess you can stay here. But only until you find out where your supposed to go.”
