A Pretty Sight (Caleb)

04:44, 29 August 2025

Lately, it has been raining so much in Linkon City that everyone has almost forgotten what the sun feels like. This morning, the forecast finally stated that the sun is returning after two months of rain. I was more excited about it since I could finally wear something other than my raincoat and boots. Caleb isn't much for the rain, but he endured it so much like everyone else, he hasn't been complaining anymore.

"The clouds are finally moving away," I cheered, watching through the window in hopes of seeing the stars before morning.

"Finally, now we can have our date like I promised." Caleb walked up behind me, wrapping his arms around me and kissing my cheek multiple times, making me giggle in the process. "You ready to go?"

"Of course I am," I practically skipped to the front door, hearing Caleb chuckle as he watched me. Caleb wanted to have a nice breakfast date while watching the sunrise after we watched a romance movie a couple of months ago. He was planning everything down to every detail, from the kind of breakfast to what time we needed to be on the roof. Just in case, I grabbed our umbrellas and covered myself with a jacket, still praying that it'll stay sunny. However, before we walked out the door, Caleb took all my precautions out of my hands.

"Absolutely not, this is bad juju." Caleb pouted softly, tapping his foot like he was disappointed.

"I just wanted to make sure-"

"Nope, don't bring that mindset to our date." He grabbed my hand, spinning me around in a circle and directing me to walk out of the apartment. I rolled my eyes, giggling at Caleb's stubbornness. We passed down the hall, in the elevator, and we were off to the roof. The excitement was making my fingers tingle, and my feet making me dance just slightly. "Excited?" He asked, watching me prance like a dog being excited for dinner.

"We finally get to feel the sun again, of course, I am!" I hugged him tightly, nuzzling my face against his chest. Caleb chuckled softly, holding me close with his arms around me. Caleb and I made eye contact, both of our faces beaming with joy. "You were able to finish making breakfast, right? I would've helped if I weren't so tired earlier."

"I didn't mind, it just means you'll be more surprised about what I made." Caleb's hand rubbed my back, making me shiver slightly. I shrugged at the idea, accepting his statement since he was right. I like his surprise meals. The elevator dinged open, both of us walking out and were welcomed with hanging lights, bright flowers, and a table for two with a well-made breakfast.

"Pancakes, eggs, sausage, apple slices, and orange juice?" My eyes were slightly widened, drooling already from seeing the amazing food. "I just want to devour it all!" I cheered.

"I made enough for seconds. So don't worry, there is plenty for you to have your fill." Caleb pulled me close to him, his hands on my waist, and instantly he started kissing all over my face. His pecks were gentle, but ticklish.

"Caleb! Stop it," I was laughing almost uncontrollably. "You're tickling me so much!" Caleb stopped after he kissed my lips, allowing the warmth to tickle my skin. In the corner of my eye, the sun started to rise, making us stop our kiss and watch as it slowly lit up the area. The sky lit up from the sun's rays, showing no more clouds hovering over the city.

"Alright, beautiful, time to eat breakfast." Caleb carefully sat me down in a chair, placing a pancake, a small scoop of eggs, some apple slices on the pancake, and two sausages on my plate. As I took a bite of the pancake, my face felt warm from the delicious taste, and my feet tapped from the fluffy texture. "This is amazing, Caleb. 100/10!" I held up my thumb. Caleb sat on the other chair across from me, chuckling at my silly behavior, and eating breakfast with me.

Caleb and I watched the sun rise, munching on our pancakes and eggs, and I noticed two birds landing on the edge of the roof. I quietly poked Caleb, getting his attention, and pointed to the pair nuzzling against each other who were facing the sunrising like we were. I smiled softly at the adorable sight, quietly standing up, and carrying my plate over to Caleb's side of the table. He looked at me, confused, watching me sit on his lap and wrap my arms around him.

"What are you doing, pipsqueak?" He whispered, holding onto me so I won't fall off his knees. I covered my lips with my finger, laying my head on him, and pointed towards the sun and the birds, signaling to shut up and watch the perfect view. Caleb smiled softly, kissing my cheek and resting his chin on my shoulder, both of us feeling the warm rays of the sun hitting our skin. The air felt clearer, the sky clearer than it had been for months, and the love from Caleb and the birds made my heart fill full.
