🙄 jealous 🙄

01:48, 8 January 2026

Sae Itoshi did not "hang out." He existed nearby while people wasted oxygen.

Right now, he leaned against a training wall, wiping sweat from his neck, posture effortlessly perfect. Some new international midfielder recruit was talking to him—overly energetic, smiling too hard, the type Sae usually ignored into dust.

But Sae was... answering. Not warmly. Just... not dismissing.

Which was basically intimacy by Sae standards.

Across the field, Shidou froze mid-stretch.

His eye twitched.

The guy laughed at something Sae said.

Two thoughts hit Shidou simultaneously:

Why's he laughing? Sae's not funny.

Why is Sae letting him stand that close?

Shidou stood up like a lion smelling a challenger.

"Who's that," he growled to nobody.

Isagi, stretching nearby, glanced up. "New midfield trial, I think. Why?"

Shidou's jaw clenched. His voice dropped, dark and dangerous:

"He's smiling at Sae."

"...Yeah, that's usually how humans interact."

"No. Not like that," Shidou hissed. "He's looking at him like he wants to breathe his air."

Isagi blinked. "Do you... care?"

Shidou didn't answer.

He was already stalking across the field like a territorial jungle cat about to commit a crime.

Sae noticed Shidou the moment he moved—of course he did.

Shidou, all sharp glare and storm aura, marching straight toward them.

The new guy turned, surprised at the approaching menace.

Sae exhaled internally. Here we go...

Shidou stopped inches from Sae, voice flat and deadly:

"Who are you and why are you smiling at him?"

The new guy blinked. "Uh—just introducing myself? We're teammates."

"Don't."

"...Don't... what?"

"Don't smile at him."

Sae pinched the bridge of his nose. "Ryusei..."

"No. You can't just let weird guys hover near you like you're a vending machine handing out attention tokens."

Sae gave him the stare. "I wasn't handing out anything."

The new guy, flustered, tried to salvage the situation:

"I was just saying he's inspiring—"

Shidou stepped forward, chest bumping him. "You can be inspired from a distance."

"Shidou," Sae warned.

Shidou ignored him completely. "You don't get to talk to him like that."

"Like what?"

Shidou's voice dropped to a growl:

"Like he's available."

Sae's eyebrow twitched—dangerously pleased—but his face stayed neutral.

"I am not a possession," Sae stated calmly.

Shidou turned to him instantly, ears red, tail energy off the charts.

"You're right. You're not."

A beat.

Then Shidou leaned down, voice low:

"But if some random guy touches you, I'm biting him."

The new recruit: "W–What?!"

Sae: "You're not helping."

Shidou, whisper-yelling: "I am preventing poachers!!"

"You sound delusional."

"YOU'RE PRETTY, SAE, THINGS HAPPEN."

Sae actually blinked. That... was not expected. Not the compliment—he knew he was pretty. But Shidou saying it out loud like his brain fell out? New.

Sae cleared his throat, expression back to stone. "To be clear, I don't need a guard dog."

Shidou scowled. "I'm not a dog. I'm a dragon. A sexy one."

Sae muttered, "More like a street raccoon with abs."

Shidou paused. Face slowly lighting up.

"You think I have good abs."

Sae closed his eyes, knowing he played himself. "Walk away before I regret every life decision."

Shidou pointed two fingers at the new guy's eyes, then his own—classic I'm watching you threat.

The recruit fled like his life depended on it.

Sae grabbed Shidou's wrist and dragged him behind the equipment shed, away from prying eyes.

"Stop scaring rookies," he hissed. "You are not a territorial animal."

Shidou stared, pout obvious, jealousy still crackling off him like electricity.

"...I didn't like him looking at you."

"That's your problem."

"No, that's OUR problem. Because I'm gonna punch someone someday and it's gonna be over your stupid face."

Sae's lip twitched. "Romantic."

"I HATE IT," Shidou snapped. "I hate how it feels. My chest goes—" Shidou aggressively mimed a heart attack. "—BOOM BOOM I WANNA RIP THROATS."

Sae stared at him. "That sounds medically concerning."

Shidou grabbed Sae's wrist back, gentler than expected, voice low:

"Just... don't look at other guys like that."

"I wasn't 'looking' at anyone."

"You talked to him like he mattered."

Ah. That was the raw core. Pathetic. Real. Sweet.

Sae softened imperceptibly. "Ryusei."

"No," Shidou muttered, sulking, shoulders tense. "Laugh if you want. Kick me. Whatever. I just—"

Sae stepped closer.

Shidou froze.

Sae's voice dropped to velvet stone.

"You don't need to pick fights to keep me."

Shidou stopped breathing.

Sae continued, expression calm but eyes warm enough to burn:

"I choose where I stand."

"And you... choose near me?" Shidou whispered.

Sae didn't answer with words.

He simply lifted his hand... and flicked Shidou's forehead lightly.

Shidou blinked.

"That's not affection."

"It is for me."

Shidou's heart absolutely died and resurrected in one second.

"You're messed up," he whispered, smiling like a fool.

"Particularly."

"Say it," Shidou begged quietly.

"No."

"Say you like me."

"No."

"Say I'm your freak."

Sae looked away, ears faintly pink.

"...You're ridiculous."

Shidou leaned in, forehead touching Sae's.

"And you're mine."

Sae didn't pull away. Didn't scoff. Didn't insult him.

He just whispered back:

"...Try not to bite anyone today."

"No promises."

Sae smirked—barely there, but real.

Five Minutes Later

Isagi: "Where's the new guy?"

Chigiri: "Saw him running. Looked traumatized."

Bachira: "Shidou did a territorial dance again?"

Rin: suspicious side-eye at Sae "...Why do you tolerate him?"

Sae sipping water, voice deadpan but soft around the edges:

"He's useful."

Shidou then proceeded to send Sae a air kiss.

Sae pinched the bridge of his nose.

"...Annoying."

Rin stared. "...You're in love."

"Shut up."
