Chapter 7 - He is nicer than it Seems

“Well... The interview didn't go that badly, did it?” Brett explained.

Eddy shook his head and sighed loudly. “The hell does this mean?”

“This means he's actually nice, Eddy. We're getting a long, but you have nothing to worry about. He has a girlfriend.”

“It doesn't matter if he has a girlfriend or not, Brett!” Eddy exclaimed, losing patience. “He's like, the worst musician out there!”

Yang buried his head in his hands and groaned annoyedly. He might've said some controversial stuff and played the worst interpretation of the Flight of the Bumblebee that he had ever heard, but Ben Lee was a nice guy that he had things in common with. He couldn't understand how his best friend for years couldn't get this.

“Listen, Eddy...”, he sighed. “How about we all talk?”

“What? We already talked, we literally Skyped him.”, Chen pointed out.

“Yeah, but as an interview. I want a casual conversation. He really is a cool guy.” He paused. “Please?”

The taller boy ended up agreeing and they went to his home in the evening. His friend asked Ben if he could video chat that evening and he agreed. At the beginning of the conversation, Eddy stayed sceptical towards the sacrilegious boy and only answered questions with short, closed sentences. "Yeah", "No", "Sure", were the most used words at first. But as the talk evolved, he started opening up and realising Ben was, indeed, a nice guy.

“So is there a specific reason you wanted to talk?” Lee asked.

“Kind of?” Brett answered. “Eddy was jealous because I was messaging you earlier.”

Eddy turned read and shoved the other boy with his elbow. “No I wasn't!”

The two others laughed and Ben asked for clarification:

“What would he be jealous about, though? You aren't dating, right?”

The two violinists looked at eachother in an attempt to agree on what they were going to reply. Ben understood they probably just started going out and didn't continue on the subject except for congratulating them. They talked about their hobbies other than playing the violin/viola/golden instruments and all realised they had more in common than meets the eye.

A couple of days later, TwoSet's social media accounts were flooded by notifications. They had both just woken up from another sleepover (they started doing that a lot) and had a lot more comments than they usually had. Brett was the first one to check what was going on while Eddy went to prepare breakfast for both of them.

Some of the comments seemed childish, like "ha ha your mom gaey" or "no homo lmaoooooo". Meme comments were always a part of their social media, so he wasn't alarmed.

Others made the shorter violinist really wonder what in the world was going on. "congrats to you two sksksk", "i knew it all along!!!!", "the holding hands while playing the violin video finally makes sense lol". They seemed to point to something, but he didn't quite understand what.

One of the comments finally made him get what happened. "I'm so happy for you two! It's great news to find out you're going out..." He didn't finish reading the comment.

“Eddy, you'll never believe what happened!”
