DELIA'S P.O.V
"Leave this town now. Get yourself and your friends to safety." Thor softly demands me after witnessing the distance madness. Clearly he is not only worried for my safety, he is worried for my mortal friends. He surely has changed, no longer is he the arrogant thick headed prince. Although I will miss his arrogance, it was truly adorable at times.
"What about you?" I wonder with deep concern for him.
"I must stay and fight," He tells me as his left hand brushes a strand of hair behind my ear, then grabs behind my neck, not to kiss me, to only gaze at one another. The Warriors 3 and Sif look to Thor with the look 'are you crazy' that I am way too familiar with. "I'm still a warrior, and I will fight by their side." He tells us strongly.
"Then I will do the same." I say while grabbing his right hand tightly. "I may not be a warrior but I will stay by your side."
Volstagg loudly speaks up. "You're both but a mortal now. You'll get yourself killed!"
Fandral, being the sassy boy he has always been, scoffs at Thor's idea. "Or one of us, trying to protect you."
"The best thing you both can do is get the mortals to safety and leave the battle to us." Sif tells us with her determination. I cannot help but give a hateful glance to her, she always has to have a say against everything I go for. Albeit Sif seemingly appears to have grown a bit, she still acts to be the know-it-all.
Thor's eyes wander away from mine, looks out to the city, and watches the citizens who are oblivious to the oncoming threat scramble around in terror. I do the same and soon realise they desperately need help, this possibly has never happened in this small town so they might have no idea what to do. My mortal friends cannot handle this by themselves, they did not even know about Asgard until just yesterday, I have no choice.
So I sigh heavily and comb my hair back in stress. "You're right." I huff. Everyone, even Thor, all look surprised from my sudden change in attitude.
Here on Midgard, I was known to be the grumpy, 'screw everyone' type of person, only because I hated living here amongst those who treated me like dirt. (Not including my Midgardian friends) In this situation, along with finally having Thor back, this is entirely different, it is not about Thor, our love nor I. So I turn to Jane, Selvig, and Darcy. "Help me clear the streets. I refuse to let any one die this day."
Sif grants a respective smile. "You're suddenly so positive, why the change?"
I give her another look, not of hatred, but of mischievousness. "I believe 'tis time for me live up to my title. I mustn't dwell on the past forever." Sif rolls her eyes, even if we have grown we still have our feuds. "Sif, even after so much time we still are at each other's neck."
"I will be for as long as you are with him." Sif mumbles low enough so that I can only hear it. Her dark eyes stare at me for a few moments, then she stomps off.
I knew that Sif was referring to Thor. I knew that since the beginning of her existence, she would serve Thor in hopes he would return the same. I remember when Loki told me that there was a time where Sif and Thor were inseparable, they were truly great friends. Until 5 year old Delia came along, I can even clearly remember the first time I met them all.
But now is not the time to reminisce the distant past. Instead I run outside to a group of people that seem to be rather confused and frightened, I suppose they are aware that a threat is coming. "Evacuate the area immediately! This is not a jest!" Many pay heed to my demands because what else are they to do?
I can hear Thor and my acquaintances yelling and commanding others to flea. I leave them to their jobs and take responsibility to evacuate of evacuating people from the shops. I say the same thing over and over until I run into the town asshole. Someone who has been causing me trouble by flirting with me and chasing my tail.
"Leave, McKinley!" I bark at the drunk. McKinley is a middle aged man who is a pain in my ass. He never listens to anyone and often tries to get into fights. He also loves to be a dog and chase after many pretty girls, while he looks like a bulldog himself.
"Why should I listen to you, bitch." McKinley laughs rudely while throwing a shot glass at me. At the last second I jump to the side and dodge the glass, the poor thing shatters into pieces. Of course, he is the only one left in this bar and I am guessing he refuses to leave until he is entirely drunk.
"Because you are in danger." I huff angrily. "You must go or else--"
"Or else what?" He scoffs. McKinley then pauses to think, if you consider that thinking. "H-hey, get your pretty face over here and pour me another drink. Then maybe I'll let you sit next to me."
I fume with irritation and stomp over to him. "Listen you rat, you have to leave--" before I could finish he suddenly jumps to a stand. Just as he raises his hand to strike me, someone grabs his risen wrist from behind myself and tugs him away from I.
"Hey!" He slurs with surprise behind me. "Let go of me, fucker!"
I turn around and smile widely when Thor is holding him by his wrist. McKinley dangles and struggles against his iron grip, consistently throwing useless hits at him.
"You dare threaten my love?" Thor booms angrily. His powder blue eyes burn hatred into McKinley's fearful expression and without another word, my wonderful boyfriend throws him through the glass door and onto the road. He then turns to me and begins examining my body like if he is looking for any possible injuries. "Did he harm you?"
"No, he did not." I reassure. "Thank you, I would have fought him myself, but I would have never gotten him out if it were not for you." Before I could have at least rewarded him with a kiss, more screams outside caught our attention. "We mustn't dally, lets go."
Thor and I run outside to find that Sif and the Warriors three were down, trying to get back up. The only one really fighting anymore is Sif, but she ends up being thrown into a car. I step forward but Thor's arm ceases me from reacting.
"Stay here," Thor demands. "It is not safe. I cannot risk it."
"But--" he decides not to listen to my words and instead, runs to Sif's side. I turn my attention to McKinley, whom was passed out in the middle of the road. I roll my eyes and jump down from the bar's porch. I jog to his side, bend over, and scoop up his arms in order for me to drag him to safety. "You owe me for this." I mumble as I carelessly drag him to an abandoned alleyway.
I drop him without a second thought and run out into the street, only to find Thor slowly inching towards the Destroyer. My eyes widen in mortification and I start running as fast as I could in his direction. "THOR!" I shriek for him. Just as I scream for my love, he is thrown far from his original spot. An ear splitting crack! echoes through the air, causing my knees go weak and myself become heavier.
I can feel tears pool at my lower lashes and my heart sets itself on fire. Oh Gods he is not moving, it appears he is not breathing either. I finally make it to Thor and drop to my knees without a care. I gently place my hand on his chest and feel him moving and breathing. Except he is barely breathing, he has two large gashes on his chest and he is bleeding terribly.
"Thor," I croak. I pull him into my lap, greeted by his gorgeous blue eyes I tear up more. "Stay with me, please."
"I-I cannot." He chokes out. "It is over,"
"No." I reply back, trying to sound strong but I am failing horribly. "No it is not, okay? No it's not."
I watch with tears as he shakily reaches up and touches my cheek with his bloodied hand. He forces a small smile, like if he is trying to convince me that everything is alright. I know it's not okay, this is not okay, this will never be okay.
"I . . . I love you." He whispers.
I clench my eyes to a close and shook my head, denying all of this. "Shut up, do not say that like if it is the last time you'll ever say that!" I scold like if I am mad, but I cannot be mad at him, I can never stay mad at him. It is all because I can barely know what to say now and I have to force myself to breathe. My chest feels like it is constricting my lungs. My throat burns and my eyesight becomes blurry. "Don't-Don't leave me." I whisper. "I j-just got you back."
"Please, say-say it." Thor tries to stay awake, he is fighting to keep his eyes open just so that he can hear those words. Only to hear me say I love him, and I just cannot say it. It hurts to even look at him, so instead I close my eyes and place my lips onto his. Since my eyes were closed I am betting that I am kissing sloppily, at the moment we both could care less.
I feel him try with all of his might to push back and enjoy the last seconds he has. I can taste the blood that was leaking from his cut up lips, and I could not get enough of the comforting warmth. I smile through the kiss, I love how he always tries no matter what was the situation.
I open my eyes and pull away. Gazing at him with such love, I open my mouth to speak, and I find that he is not gazing back at me. His eyes are closed and he is not moving anymore, I cannot even feel him breathing anymore.
"No, no no no," I stutter frantically. I shift around and place my hand on his chest, then pull away quickly in fear that I might make it worse. I have no idea what to do now, I do not know if I should take him to a hospital or try to give him CPR or just leave him be. "Th-Thor? Love, stay with me. You can't, you can't . . ." I am definitely at a loss of words, I do not know if I should scream out of anger or cry mournfully.
"Delia," I hear Jane say behind me. I feel her hands on my shoulders but I flinch away from her. "Delia, we have to go."
"No!" I scream. "I can't just leave him!"
"Jane!" I hear Erik yell. "Get away from her!"
I hear thunder crack above us and lightening strikes about five feet away from Thor and I. I ignore the thunder and start sobbing loudly while holding onto him for dear life. I press my forehead against his, trying to feel for his warmth that once enveloped me in safety. I cannot feel anything, my entire body is numb because it knows that it has no reason to be alive.
More thunder booms all around us, a mixture of sadness and fury is thick in the air. Lightening strikes just before us but I do not fear it anymore, I do not fear death now. I have nothing to loose because I have lost my everything.
The cries of my friends for me to get away from Thor blur into the thunder's deafening roar. I am too distracted by my grief that I have not noticed an another oncoming threat. My hair flits around from the powerful winds to which I have to try to open my eyes. To look at my love dead in my arms only causes more heartache that no one can bare for long.
"I-I love you." I sob.
Right after I speak, another lightening strike shoots right into Thor and I. The force is so strong that it sends myself flying backwards and instead of feeling pain, I feel a sudden surge of strength.
I tumble a few feet away from Thor and land on my backside. I stare to the skies, flabbergasted to find golden rays beaming upon me. With wide eyes I hold my hands up before my face. I watch as golden ribbons trickles down to my elbows and entwine my entire body. My clothing begins to change like magic and I feel myself lift off of the ground. My skin feels extremely warm and the youth that I once had returns to me. The age that I once was five years ago returns to me along with my strength.
I laugh and land gently on the ground. I reach around my waist to find my trusty sword in its sheath. I am adorned in a dark purple tunic with a chain mail underneath the fabric. I am wearing my leather boots along with white tights. My once nappy and dull hair is now full of volume, a bright mix of mahogany and nutmeg.
"My divinity has returned!" I exclaim excitedly with clenched fists of victory. The first thing I think of is what I promised a while back as soon as I retrieved my divinity. "DARCY! COME HITHER!" I bolt at high speed to the young woman, who is wide eyed and has an opened mouth. I run into her and lift her into my arms, attempting to hug her as hard as I could.
"May good luck be bestowed on you for all of eternity!" I say happily. I then pull away in order to place a tender and loving kiss onto her forehead. "Nightmares will never bother you again, you will have wonderful dreams for as long as you live!"
Darcy blushes a dark red and looks up to me with glassy eyes. "Th-thank you?"
I nod and then I turn to my Love, who is standing there in all of his beautiful glory. He is wearing his armour along with his Mjolnir in his hand, his red cape flowing effortlessly. Thor smiles to me brightly, I do not return the gesture. Instead, I growl and run up to him in order to slap the stupid out of his thick head. Thor stumbles back both in shock and from the hit.
"YOU IDIOT!" I shriek angrily. I then proceed to hit his chest with all of my strength. Thor actually stumbles back from my hitting and actually looses breath when I land the last punch quite harshly. "Do you have any idea how much grief I went through watching you die in my arms!?" Before he could speak I tackle him into a crushing hug, causing him to groan.
"I-I apologise," Thor wheezes playfully.
I pull away and look into his eyes, the anger that once burned in them softened. "You really know how to make a girl cry." I laugh cheerfully, throwing off everyone. I jump back and spread my arms out, twirling around and giggling like a mad man at the same time. "I feel so great! Mother's curse has been lifted and I can do anything!"
After, I gasp with realisation. I look at my back and whisper a short paragraph in Norse instead of English. I smile widely when red ribbons come gracefully pouring into a vortex out of my shoulder blades. They slowly form into blood red wings as big as a normal Midgardian vehicle.
I spread them out and test their stability, it has been a while since I have used my magic and my wings. I flap them three times, at first it was a practice to see if they were still able to work. The other two times they actually made Thor step back from the powerful gust.
Jane's eyes sparkle with amazement and admiration while her jaw hangs low. Without hesitation she takes out a camera and begins to take multiple pictures. "Open them and spread them out please." Jane asks nicely. I do as she asks with a smile, they are all marveling over the greatness of the blood red wings that appears to be made of glass. I can finally show my Midgardian friends that I was not lying.
"We have more business to attend to, but in Asgard." Thor informs is all.
Jane glumly pouts her lower lip. "Does that mean you're leaving, Delia?" She asks with giant, glimmering, sad eyes that is hear trending.
"Well," I start with a lopsided smirk. "Maybe you should come with?"
Jane's eyes shine with amazement and wonder. "You can't be serious." I nod in response, in which she squeals with excitement. "Yes! Take me with you! Please!"
I laugh and with ease, I lift her into my arms by hooking one arm underneath her legs and around her back. Jane yelps in surprise, not used to my newfound strength. I spread my wings again and with one flap, I zoom off into the air with Jane screaming with laughter and nervousness. She tightly wrapped her thin arms around my neck, her brown eyes wide disbelief.
"WE'RE FLYING!" She laughs giddily. "THIS IS AMAZING!"
I smile and flap my wings once more, sending us into a speed that made our hair flow behind us like if it was the wind itself. I maneuver around professional, such as twirl around in circles and go up and down. Jane cries out in shock multiple times and would often grab onto the back of my head, tugging at my own locks.
After about five minutes, I spot rune designs in the middle of the bare desert. I lean backwards and land quite harshly, causing the sand beneath my feet to shoot upwards. I set Jane down, who is breathing heavily and is now sitting on the uneven ground. She grips the dead plants around her, trying to capture onto reality.
"Just when I thought nothing could blow me away anymore," Jane gasps. "The girl who I thought escaped from a mental institute grew wings and flew at speeds no human or bird could reach."
"I am no human," I say while holding out my hand, helping her to her wobbly feet. "I am an Asgardian Goddess."
"I see that." Jane giggles.
Finally, Thor arrives right next to me, landing in the same fashion as I did. He smiles to the ecstatic Jane, "Did you enjoy your flight?" He asks.
In return, Jane jumps back onto me and wraps her arms around my neck again. I wrap my arms around her thin frame, laughing with her. "Thank you so much, Delia!" She pulls away after a few seconds. Her jaw does that awkward moving up and down thing, like if she can't find the exact words to say. "Hey, I-I'm so sorry for doubting you and calling you crazy before. If--if I would've known--"
"'Tis fine, Lady Jane. If anything, I should thank you for housing me. I would not have been here if it was not for you." I assure while patting my rather large hand on her petite shoulder. She smiles with a light pink blooming on her cheeks, like if she was embarrassed.
The other's finally arrive right after I speak. The Warriors Three and Sif are all cramming in the back of Jane's van, with Darcy operating the vehicle. Erik appears to be questioning our visitors, writing in a leather notebook, he must be taking notes.
I am greeted with another vehicle following after, but it was pitch black with tinted windows. I raise an eyebrow in wonder when a bald man wearing ebony coloured glasses came out of the passenger seat. He is wearing a formal Midgardian suit along with other men, truthfully their apparel is unnecessary. He straightens his clothing and comes heading towards Thor, Jane and I.
"You must be Thor's wife." Is what the man first says to me. "I'm Phil Coulson, I work for SHIELD." He greets while holding out his hand for me to shake. I hesitatingly reach out and grasp it, then shake it with force that causes him to tug downwards.
"And whom told you that?" I wonder with a wee bit of irritation.
"Oh, Darcy Lewis did." The man motions to the young assistant. I stare hard at her, causing Darcy to smile sheepishly.
"No, I am not his wife. We are courting but we are not married." I inform him. I then turn to Thor, whom is looking to the bright blue sky that matches with his own eyes.
"Heimdall! Open the Bifrost!" He booms loudly, causing most of us to flinch. We all stand there, staring and patiently awaiting the colourful beam to take us away.
But nothing happens. This is very unusual, Heimdall would always listen to Thor's pleas. He would often open the bifrost to most people, depending on voice. Since this is Thor, he should immediately listen, and clearly he is not. This worries me, it must mean there is something wrong in Asgard.
Thor looks to the others and I with concern. "He would open it if he could. I fear the worst."
"Let me try," I offer and he nods. I cup my hands around my mouth and yell; "Heimdall! Please open the bifrost!"
"Saying please won't change anything." Sif scoffs at my manners. I send a frown her way, telling her to shut her mouth. Luckily she does not push into an argument.
"Then we're trapped here forever!" Volstagg exclaims as if it were the official end.
I shook my head in denial and close my eyes. I am attempting to see into the near future, to see what is wrong or if we will make it into Asgard. My body feels as if it is falling which means I am successful, but I can only see Heimdall leaning against the controls like if he is hurt. His shaky hands reach up and pushes his sword down. I come back to the present, no luck with the bifrost right now.
"He is wounded," I say.
Thor looks to me as he cocks his head to the right. "Explain."
"He cannot open the bifrost because he is wounded." I explain. "I saw him opening the bifrost but that might be hours from now. Possibly days." All of us Asgardians, including Jane, sigh in distress. This is certainly not pleasing news to hear.
"Then I suppose we'd best start settling into our new lives." Fandral says, annoying me further. To make it more irritating, he stares at Darcy with his 'dreamy' eyes of his. "Are all earth maidens as fair as you?" He says to her.
Of course, Darcy enjoys the attention. "No." She replies while batting her eyelashes.
Disgusted by Fandral, only because who knows how many women he has already been with, I concentrate on the sand, then flick my wrist in order to cause the land beneath him to shake. It throws him off of his feet with a loud "OOF" following after. Darcy breaks into unstoppable laughter at Fandral's fall. I smile, surely that has bruised his ego and ruined his charm.
Thor interrupts by shouting back up to the sky once more. "Heimdall!" He waits, with no bifrost, he asks me; "Is it possible for you to see into the past?"
I think back to the days where my mother explained her ability, then nod. "My mother used to be able to, but she would need to hold onto someone in order to see into their past. She told me that she could see into all of the past by third person view and not with just one person's path, but it was quite rare and often she would sleep for days."
The Asgardians begin to lose hope, this is stressing for us all. We cannot return back to our home at the moment, we do not even know if we are ever able to.
"The 'all is lost' moment." Darcy sighs. "Typical fanfic stuff."
"Quiet." I snap. "This is not one of your romance fiction by fans."
Suddenly, a loud boom causes all of us to jump in our skin. We all stare at the sky, new clouds gathering in the sky catching our attention. They swirl around, forming into a cone that is illuminating multiple colours. Thor grins while the mortals look on, amazed.
Fandral turns to the baffled Darcy as the other Asgardians, except I, gather onto the runes, awaiting for the bifrost. "Sorry, my love. These things happen."
He joins the other warriors at their side, giving one last flirtatious smirk to Darcy. I step in front of her and cross my arms, glowering to him. Fandral swallows and adverts his eyes away from mine.
"Know this, son of Coul." Thor speaks to Phil Coulson, who is trying to stand his ground. He must be intimidated by Thor. "You and I, we fight for the same cause -- the protection of this world. From this day forward, count me as your ally."
I interject their conversation. "If you return the items you have stolen from Jane Foster."
Quickly, Phil adds; "Not stolen. Borrowed." Jane shoots him a look of utter annoyance and anger. He does not care to answer to that and instead, proceeds to talk. "You'll get your equipment back. You're going to need it to continue your research . . . which, after today's events, SHIELD would like to fully sponsor. If that's all right with you."
She appears to be taken aback, but in a good way. "Oh, sure! Yeah, I'd love to."
Quickly, I walk up to Jane, who's expression that was once of happiness, looks up to me with fear in her eyes, like if she thinks that she will never see me again. My lips pull into a grim line as I pull Jane into a harsh but loving hug. "Thank you so much, Jane. Without you, I do not know where I would be right now."
Jane sniffles and buries her face into my neck, she must be fighting the urge to cry, as am I. "You were a wonderful assistant. I'll miss you so much."
I look over to Darcy, who was sadly gazing at the sand. I smile and hold out my hand to her, adverting her attention to us. "Come hither, group hug!" She brightens and runs to us, tackling into Jane's back while I wrap the rest of my arms around her. "Also including you, Erik." I add.
The old man sighs and pulls all of us into his arms. We all close our eyes and hug for a few seconds, then pull away. Jane has a few tears pricking at her lower eyelashes and quickly she wipes them away.
"Our paths will cross again, I will make sure of that." I tell Jane. I look to Darcy, give a look of feigned disappointment, then smile widely. "You are a diamond in the rough, Miss Lewis. I will miss our useless bickering." I kiss her forehead once more, causing her to giggle and hug me again.
"Do you have to go?" Darcy whimpers.
I look back to Thor who is patiently waiting. "Home is where my love is." I say wistfully.
"You made science fun," Darcy says after. "Thanks for being my best friend and keeping me out of trouble." We pull away and smile one last time, she is also tearing up.
I turn to Erik, who silences me by holding up a hand. "I just want to thank you for encouraging Jane's ambitions." Erik says with a small smile. "Although they are crazy, your stories and facts were interesting."
"Thank you." I say. I reach out to shake his hand, and he does, but I end up kissing it. He groans and pulls away with untrusting eyes but a friendly smile. I look back to Thor, then to the sky, the vortex is coming closer and closer. "I must go, I will miss you all. You will always be in my mind." I run to Thor and skid next by his side, slipping my hand into his. I look to my friends and wave with a smile. "Farewell!"
"Thank you for taking care of my love!" Thor thanks, in return Jane waves back.
"She's a pain in the ass!" Jane and Darcy yell at the same time.
Just as the Bifrost engulfs us, I am laughing boisterously and heartily. As soon as I finish my laughter, we arrive into Asgard faster than how I remembered it. Oh yeah, last time I was thrown into the bifrost, it was not as pleasant as that was a few seconds ago.
I feel so much better standing in Asgard, the aura here is more light than on Midgard. I look around and spot Heimdall leaning against the control, barely holding onto life. I was right! This time I actually saw what was going to happen, not ten other possibilities! Surely this is a meager but wonderful victory!
"Take him to the healing room!" Thor commands as he stomps away. "Leave my brother to me."
So I listen along with the others. We run to Heimdall, Lady Sif slides her arm under his arm, I repeat her actions. Heimdall slumps forward, half awake and barely breathing. "Hang in there, Heimdall." I soothe.
We drag him along the bifrost, careful not to drop him. There were some citizens on the outskirts of Asgard who spot us and take action by fetching us a horse and a carriage. As soon as the wooden carriage comes to us, Sif and I pull him inside. With one final groan we lay him across the seat.
"I have to go, the citizens are in chaos." Sif says, looking to the streets where sheets of ice cover the ground. Some shops were covered with ice and there were even some ice shards protruding into the shops. Absentmindedly, I reach to my stomach and place a hand on the random scar. For some reason, the ice shards made me feel funny.
With nothing left to say, Sif joins the Warriors Three. I am left to tend to Heimdall.
"To the castle healing room!" I yell the command. The carriage starts on a bumpy road so I had to hold Heimdall down by settling his head onto my lap. I slip off his helmet and look across his dark features, it appears that there is frost burns across his skin. I cringe at the gruesome sight, I knew exactly what has caused this.
"D-De," I hear Heimdall mutter with his chapped lips. His face contorts into pain as he turns his head to me. He forces his eyes open, and I see his molten optics stare into mine. "Pr-Princess, hello." He greets with a whisper.
I smile down to him. "I am no princess."
"Not yet." He says quietly.
"Not yet," I parrot with a grin. Carefully, I hover my right hand on his cheek, then whisper a healing incantation. My palm radiates an emerald green light onto his burns and brightens after a few moments. He winces at the touch, then breathes out with relief.
"This should soothe the pain for now." I whisper. While the carriage is traveling to the castle grounds, I look out the carriage's left opening. I watch as old and new buildings pass, new people from other worlds and small children running in the streets with their parents. Asgard has changed since last time I have been here. Although not much, it is enough to notice.
"We're here," the man controlling the carriage inform me.
I take my hand away from Heimdall, who begins to groan from the absences of the pain killing spell. With care, I push him off of myself and jump out of the carriage. We were in front of the castle's entrance, but there were no maids, nurses, no one bustling around. Unusual, they must've all gathered together from the frost giant attack.
"Oh well," I say, pulling Heimdall from the carriage. The man leading the carriage leapt off and assists me without saying anything. I put my arm underneath Heimdall's and the man copies my move. We drag him up the steps and through the doors, then we start our way to the healing room that is in the left wing.
Thank Gods, we made without any frost giant attack, if we were attacked by any chance I would have to be the one to fight. Frankly, I would be no chance against their cruelty.
In the ward, there were many nurses who are tending to guards who also seem to have freezing burns. We pull Heimdall to the closest, empty bed and settle him onto the soft material.
A rather young and beautiful nurse with dark topaz skin comes rushing over, her eyes were like rubies but her hair as dark as night. "Freeze burns also?" She asks with a smooth voice. I nod, befuddled that there is a young nurse. Usually, they are old or middle aged, maybe this one is well taught and just as experienced.
I stand next to my friend, my glowing green hand barely above his burns so that I will not irritate them farther. Heimdall moans out and grabs onto my forearm, forcing me to end my magic and bend over in order to look at him.
"Go," he grumbles.
"No, you need help--" I begin.
"N-no, see what-what I see." Heimdall then looks into my eyes and taps my forehead, and suddenly I see scenes appear before me. Instead of standing in the healing room, I am on the Rainbow Bridge.
The observatory collapses, bringing down Loki and Thor. They both spiral into the whirlpool of stars beneath them and they are lost forever. The scene repeats with different scenarios, one where Odin comes to help them, one where I appear and I die with them, but the best possibilities is Thor, Loki and I falling, dying. Then there's me saving Thor by grabbing onto his leg, saving only him. The slimmest one is where I save just Loki, but I highly doubt it.
"Go!" Heimdall's voice echoes through the room, bringing me out of the vision. Without anything to say to him I turn around and run out of the castle. I grow my wings once more, then take off into the navy blue, star plastered sky.
I need to hurry or else I will miss Thor falling into the endless void. I am the last chance he has for surviving the fall and if I am too late, then I will loose him. I will be damned if I am to let this happen again, so I push myself to flap my wings harder. I keep going until I see the bifrost in view, by then my shoulder blades are searing and aching. I force myself to go farther until one wing shatters, causing me to hang from the other wing. I spiral downwards, while loosing control the other wing breaks and I am simply falling forward not downwards. The fall will surely be painful.
I tumble along the bifrost, grunting and yelping from constantly hitting my side and scraping most areas of my skin. I swear I hear a few snaps and pops, my head is banging onto the glass bridge, and my skin is tearing. I roll to a stop, discombobulated and hurting all over. Nevertheless I balance on one bloody knee, then stand up to a wobble. I hazily look forward, trying to pull it together. I finally snap out of it when I see the bifrost about to explode from the sheer force. It is going to collapse on itself. Knowing what will happen next, I break into a jog and slowly turn it into a limping run. My ankle is bothering me immensely and so are my knees, but I need to keep going.
"For him," I remind myself.
I see Thor raising his hammer up from a distance and I am about ten feet away from Loki. Just as Thor slams his hammer onto to bridge I scream for him to stop. I am too late, the natural power of the explosion pushes me back, by instinct my wings come out just for a second to keep me on the bridge so that I will not be thrown far from it. Just as they come out, they turn into dust again, using up all of my magic.
Right after the explosion I see them falling right over the edge so I blindly reach out and jump forward. I do not know or see where I am landing, but my hands do wrap around a pair of legs. I scream when my arms are strained farther than they should be, my shoulders emitting an ugly pop sound. The cuts on my elbows and knees bleed out, stinging and almost cause me to let go out of reaction. But I hang on with all of my might, I grasp onto whoever's legs for dear life.
I reluctantly open my eyes, unsure if I am still on the bridge. I find that I still am, and I am holding onto Thor's leather pants and legs. I look over and see that Loki is dangling over the abyss, hanging onto one end of the spear while Thor holds onto the other.
I groan and attempt to pull them up, but they are too heavy for me. I cry out once more at the burn that crawls up my spine. "God dammit!" I weep, the pain is almost unbearable but have to keep holding on.
Loki looks up to me with wide forest green eyes. "D-Delia!?" He asks.
Tears drip from my eyes and onto my cuts, burning them more. I moan and scream when I almost accidentally fall over. "I-I c-can't hold on!" I shriek when my legs give away for a second. I push all of my weight onto the bridge in order to keep myself on. It is up to me to keep us all alive because if I give up for just a second, we will all die.
"Oh god," I shakily cry.
"Delia, let go!" Thor yells to me after not ing my struggle.
"NO!" I seethe through my gritted teeth, clutching onto him more tightly. "I-I re-refuse!"
"Let go or we will all perish!" Thor says, trying to look back. "I will not loose you again, let go!"
I begin to sob while attempting to pull him up. "Oh gods, shit, shit!" I loose my grip on my legs once more, causing me to go forward. I latch on, but barely holding this time. One more slip up and we will all fall into the abyss.
Loki swallows loudly and gazes at me with tearful eyes. I can see the admiration in them, I can see how much he really did care. His grip looses on the spear, causing me to holler. "Loki! Don't! I-I can do this!"
"No, you can't." Loki says with a croaky voice.
I throw my head back and attempt to pull them up, only to fail doing so. "I can try!" I weep helplessly. "I-I . . . I can try."
"All I've ever done is hurt you, and I love you too much to do it to you again." He admits his feelings as he tears up and smiles solemnly. "For you." With that, his pale hand unlatches from the spear. Thor and I both yell his name, witnessing his death. He keeps our staring at me while falling and I cannot tear my eyes away.
I squeeze my eyes shut, shaking away the heart ache. I now focus on pulling Thor up, the main objective is keeping us alive. I can barely pull him up, my grip is slipping and my entire body is on a thin wire.
I suddenly feel a warmth behind me, I open my eyes and see long lithe arms slink around mine. They grab onto Thor's legs and help me immensely on pulling him up. I look back and gasp at the unbelievable sight. It is my mother, but she is glowing bright gold and her eyes are glittering sapphires. She is so young and gorgeous, causing more tears to prick at my eyes. She is here to help me, at my time of need, she's finally here.
She does not say anything to me and I do not say anything to her since we are busy pulling my love up. As soon as Thor makes it onto the broken bridge, I let go and fall backwards, onto my mother thighs. She looks over me, her long wavy golden hair that is pulled into a high pony tail tickles my face. Her soft, bright blue eyes stare directly into my different coloured orbs. Her light pink lips move but I cannot hear her. Instead I read them.
I love you.
I breathe in, trying to hold back my tears. I slowly reach up to touch her glowing of youth face, when my finger pads brush against her skin, she dissipates into golden dust that flows away into the sky and joins the stars. I am now laying on the bridge, the warmth she provided now gone. I stare out into the multicoloured sky, the sun rising causes the stars to slowly dim, but not disappear. My hand plops right next to me, which is a bad idea since the burning racks through my entire body. I groan from the slightest movement, catching Thor's attention.
"Delia," he says breathlessly while scrambling over to me. Thor carefully pulls me into his arms, and he immediately places his lips onto mine. I do not know why he needs to kiss me at this moment, maybe it is because he needs some sort of sign that we are still alive. He needs to know that I am still alive, luckily, I am, we are.
I wince when he pushes his body a little closer to mine, but instead of misery I decide to enjoy the kiss of victory. I notice that mother's warmth is replaced with Thor's, I am not as cold as I was now. I do not feel as lonely as before and I feel like everything is fine now. That I do not need to worry about life or death, at the moment, I can be happy and safe.
Thor slowly pulls away from me, both of us now gaze at each other in a loving fashion. His eyes tear away from mine and examine my wounded body. He makes a face of concern. "Does it hurt? Are you okay?"
"Does it hurt?" I copy his words mockingly. "Well, I don't know, I fell over a hundred feet from the air, possibly pulled all of the muscles in my body, maybe even tore some muscles. I am positive a few bones are broken." I pause, then smile a little too positively for this situation. "But I am okay. If you are with me, then I will always be okay."
Thor smiles and leans forward again in order to kiss me, this time with more action. It seems he likes to bite and lick at my lower lip, often brushing his tongue against mine. His large hand also like to run my up and down hips. I am guessing he knows this is the closes thing he can get to heated love.
I close my eyes and feel a tickle along my spine, but it is not painful, more pleasurable. That is when he accidentally held me a little too tight, which causes me to pull away and cry out.
"Sorry!" Thor apologises regretfully.
I laugh in response while tangling my fingers into his messy mass of blonde hair. "My big, gorgeous, handsome, oaf." I tease, receiving a chuckle from Thor. "But seriously, I'm hurting like hell, please take me to the healing room."
"Very well Delia." Thor says while pushing his arms under my limp body. He tugs me into a position that is comfortable and begins carrying me down the Rainbow Bridge. I rest, knowing that I am in safe arms.
"Thor," I say with heavy eyelids.
"I'm here." He replies.
"Loki, I can feel him." I murmur sleepily, grasping onto his armour. "It feels like he is alive, and he will cause more trouble."
Thor does not speak for a few moments, as if he is thinking this through. "We will have to worry about this later. For now, you are what is important." He looks down to me and I look up to him, our eyes locking with each other. "I love you." He purrs with his deep voice.
I smile almost painfully, but it's worth it.
"I love you too."
