The volcanic breeze of Jeju Island whipped Y/n's hair around her face as she laughed, the sound swallowed by the roar of the approaching waves.

Beside her, Taehyung, her younger brother, shrieked with delight as he body-slammed into the sand, sending a plume of it flying.

Her father, Mr. Kim, stood a few feet back, a wide smile etched on his face as he captured the scene on his phone.

Jeju Island was a paradise compared to the sterile lab walls that had been Mr. Kim's reality for weeks.

The endless blue horizon mirrored the tranquility that had settled over him since their arrival, a stark contrast to the gnawing unease that had gripped him at the R&D building.

"Again!" Taehyung yelled, already scrambling to his feet, water dripping from his sandy clothes.

Y/n scooped up a handful of sand, packing it tightly before launching a playful attack on her brother.

Laughter erupted as the sand war commenced, their playful jabs momentarily erasing the shadows of worry that had lingered on Y/n's brow ever since their sudden vacation.

Jungkook's face, however, remained etched with a frown as he stared out of his office window in the heart of Jenesis Corps.

The bustling cityscape offered no solace, only a constant reminder of the weight he carried. The Phoenix project, a project shrouded in secrecy, felt heavier with every passing day.

A pang of guilt stabbed at him. Y/n deserved more than a fabricated vacation. He'd shut her out, his fear clouding his judgment.

Yet, the thought of her delving into the project's secrets sent chills down his spine. The potential dangers were too great, a burden he couldn't allow her to share.

He closed his eyes, the image of Y/n's laughter from their last playful moment together flashing behind his eyelids.

A determined glint flickered in his eyes. He had to find a way to protect her, to shield her from the darkness he was entangled in.

Meanwhile, on Jeju Island, a bonfire crackled merrily on the beach, casting dancing shadows on the sand. Mr. Kim strummed a melody on his guitar, the gentle notes blending with the rhythmic crash of the waves.

Y/n and Taehyung huddled close, roasting marshmallows over the fire, their faces illuminated by the warm glow.

Despite the lingering questions about Jungkook and the abrupt shift in her plans, Y/n couldn't deny the peace that had settled over her.

The simple act of being with her family, the sound of the ocean, the warmth of the fire โ€“ it all felt like a balm to her soul.

In that moment, miles apart but connected by an invisible thread, Jungkook and Y/n were both seeking solace.

He, trapped in a web of secrets, and she, yearning for answers yet grateful for the stolen moments of peace.

The island paradise offered a temporary escape, but the mystery that bound them together loomed large, waiting to be unraveled.

The volcanic breeze, once a source of delight, now held a cloying sweetness that nauseated Y/n.

Her stomach churned with a persistent unease, a feeling that had been growing steadily worse over the past few days.

The paradise of Jeju Island had begun to feel like a prison, the laughter and joy of her family a distant echo.

She sat hunched over, clutching her knees close to her chest on the beach, the rhythm of the waves a constant drumbeat against her pounding head.

Her father, Mr. Kim, strummed away on his guitar, the gentle melody offering a stark contrast to the turmoil within her.

Taehyung, her irrepressible little brother, oblivious to her struggle, was splashing in the shallows, his joyous shouts grating against her raw nerves.

Suddenly, a wave of nausea crashed over her, leaving a cold sweat clinging to her skin. She forced a smile, trying to ignore the rising tide of bile in her throat. But the effort was futile.

With a gasp, she scrambled to her feet and sprinted towards the nearest cluster of trees, her heart pounding against her ribs.

Dry heaves racked her body, offering no relief. Tears welled up in her eyes, blurring the already distorted world around her.

Fear coiled in the pit of her stomach, a cold serpent squeezing the breath from her lungs.

Moments later, she emerged from the trees, weak and shaky. Her father stood before her, his face etched with concern. "Y/n? Are you alright?" he asked, his voice laced with worry.

"Just... a little seasick," she stammered, wiping the tears from her cheeks. "I think I ate something bad."

Mr. Kim frowned. "But you haven't eaten much today," he pointed out, his brow furrowed. "Maybe it's something you ate yesterday?"

"Let's go to the hospital and get you examined first.", Taehyung suggested.

---

[Hospital]

The fluorescent lights of the examination room buzzed overhead, casting a sterile glow on the white walls. Y/n sat on the examination table, her heart hammering against her ribs. The doctor, a kind-faced woman with gentle hands, guided her through the physical examination.

"Have you been experiencing any unusual fatigue lately?" the doctor asked, her voice calm and professional.

Y/n swallowed, a lump forming in her throat. The fatigue, the nausea, the sudden aversion to certain foods โ€“ the doctor's questions were painting a picture she desperately wanted to deny.

"Maybe a little," she mumbled, hoping the doctor wouldn't pick up on the tremor in her voice.

The doctor finished the examination, her brow furrowing slightly. "Y/n," she began, her voice serious, "based on your symptoms and the initial blood test results, there's a chance you might be pregnant."

Y/n's breath hitched. Pregnant? The word echoed in her mind, a terrifying possibility that suddenly felt very real. Fear coiled in her stomach, squeezing the air from her lungs.

"But... that can't be," she stammered, her voice barely a whisper.

"It's not uncommon," the doctor explained gently. "However, the final confirmation will come with a more detailed blood test. We can schedule that for tomorrow, if you'd like."

Y/n's mind raced. This couldn't be happening. Not now, not with everything going on.ย  She needed time, time to process this, to understand what this meant for her future.

"Can you keep this confidential?" she blurted out, surprising even herself. "Until the test results come back, I mean."

The doctor studied her for a long moment, her expression unreadable. "Y/n," she began, her voice laced with concern, "confidentiality with medical information is important, butโ€”"

"Please," Y/n interrupted, her voice cracking with emotion. "It's important. I just... I need some time."

The doctor sighed, a flicker of understanding crossing her features. She seemed to sense the turmoil brewing beneath Y/n's calm facade.

"Alright," she conceded finally. "I won't disclose anything to your father or brother until you're ready.ย  But understand, these tests are crucial, and depending on the results, further action might be necessary."

Relief washed over Y/n, even though the weight of the unknown still pressed down on her. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice thick with gratitude.

Leaving the hospital, she rejoined her father and brother, a mask of normalcy plastered on her face. They bombarded her with questions about the doctor's visit, but she deflected them all with a vague explanation about the blood test results being inconclusive, possibly food poisoning.

The night was a restless one, filled with tossing and turning. Every creak of the floorboards sounded like a harbinger of doom. Sleep, once a welcome escape, now felt like an impossible luxury.

The next day, Y/n returned to the hospital alone, her stomach churning with a blend of anticipation and dread.

The doctor ushered her into the same examination room, the sterile environment offering no comfort.

This time, however, the doctor's gaze held a different kind of seriousness. "Y/n," she began, her voice grave, "the test results are in."

Y/n braced herself, a cold dread settling over her.

"The tests confirm... you are pregnant."

The revelation hung in the air, a heavy silence settling in the room. Tears welled up in Y/n's eyes, blurring the doctor's face. This wasn't supposed to happen. Not now, not when her life was already brimming with uncertainties.

"But... how?" she whispered, her voice barely a choked sob.

The doctor offered her a sympathetic smile. "These things happen, Y/n. Now, the most important thing is to understand your options andโ€”"

"Wait," Y/n interrupted, her voice trembling. "Please, you can't tell my father and brother. Not yet."

The doctor sighed, a familiar weariness entering her eyes. Young, scared pregnancies often led to complicated situations, and she'd seen her fair share of them. Yet, something about Y/n's desperation resonated with her.

"Y/n," she began, her voice gentle, "keeping something like this a secret can be dangerous. Your family deserves to knowโ€”"

"Please," Y/n pleaded, tears streaming down her face. "Justโ€ฆ give me some time. I need to figure things out first. I promise, I'll tell them eventually. But not now."

The doctor studied her for another long moment, the weight of responsibility etched on her before rallying out, "I am in no capacity your moral police and ofcourse I'm bound to follow your request of privacy. It was just an advice. However, it's upto you, ma'am.", she said before taking her leave.

---

Back in her hotel room, the sterile white walls mocked Y/n's emotional turmoil. The weight of the doctor's words echoed in her mind, a constant thrum against the rising tide of panic. Pregnant. She was pregnant.

The revelation came with a horrifying realization โ€“ the father could only be Jungkook. Shame, a cold serpent, coiled around her heart.

How could she have been so careless?

So reckless?

He was her professor, a respected figure in her life, and now, he was the reason for this chaotic storm brewing within her.

Tears streamed down her face, blurring the image of the idyllic beach scene outside her window. The turquoise waters and swaying palm trees, once a source of solace, now seemed to mock her misery.

Grasping at a sliver of hope, she fumbled for her phone, her heart hammering a frantic rhythm against her ribs. Jungkook's number stared back at her, a beacon in the storm of her emotions. Maybe, just maybe, he had answers. Maybe, together, they could find a way out of this mess.

With trembling fingers, she dialed his number. The familiar ring tone brought a surge of anxiety. It rang once, twice... then voicemail picked up.

"The voicemail box of Jungkook Jeon is full. Please try your call again later."

The automated message echoed in the small room, each word a hammer blow to her already fragile hope.

He wasn't picking up.

Why wasn't he picking up?

Was he ignoring her?

Did he already know?

Panic gnawed at her insides, fueling a torrent of irrational thoughts.

What if he was angry?

What if he thought she was trying to trap him?

The professor-student dynamic seemed to magnify every insecurity she possessed. She was nothing more than a student in his eyes, and now, she was carrying his child. Shame burned hotter, a searing brand on her soul.

She paced the room, a caged animal trapped in a web of her own making. Her voice, choked with a mixture of anger, fear, and despair, filled the small space.

"Why did this happen?" she screamed at the empty room. "Why me? What am I supposed to do now?"

The questions remained unanswered, swallowed by the echo in the sterile room.

Exhaustion, both physical and emotional, finally claimed her. She collapsed onto the bed, tears drying on her cheeks as a heavy sleep, filled with fragmented dreams and anxieties, pulled her under.

The weight of her secret, a physical and emotional burden, pressed down on her as she slept. Y/n knew, however, that the truth wouldn't stay hidden forever.

The clock was ticking, and the consequences of her actions, the consequences of their actions, loomed large on the horizon.

---

The return trip to Seoul felt like an eternity. The car, once filled with chatter and laughter, was now a tomb of silence.

Y/n stared out the window, the sun setting over the horizon painting the sky in hues of orange and red, mirroring the turmoil burning within her.

Her father, Mr. Kim, stole glances at her from the rearview mirror. Her pale face and downcast eyes were a stark contrast to the carefree girl he'd seen just days ago.

He tried initiating conversations, small talk about the trip, the scenery, anything to break the tense silence.

"Y/n, did you enjoy Jeju?" he asked hesitantly.

Y/n offered a half-hearted smile, her voice barely a whisper. "It wasโ€ฆ nice."

He wasn't convinced. "But you seemโ€ฆ different," he probed gently. "Is everything alright?"

A lump formed in her throat, threatening to choke back the torrent of emotions swirling within her. How could she explain? How could she tell him that their idyllic vacation had been shattered by a secret she couldn't share?

"Just tired, I guess," she mumbled, hoping he wouldn't pry further.

Taehyung, oblivious to the tension, chirped up from the back seat. "Yeah, maybe we should've stayed longer! We could've built another sandcastle!"

Y/n forced another smile, the effort a physical strain. "Maybe next time," she said, her voice devoid of enthusiasm.

As the cityscape of Seoul began to rise on the horizon, a flicker of hope sparked within Y/n. Seeing Jungkook, talking to him, felt like the only solution.

He had to know about this, and maybe, just maybe, together they could navigate this uncharted territory.

Mr. Kim, sensing a slight shift in her mood, asked, "Anything you'd like to do when we get back, Y/n? Catch up with friends?"

She shook her head, her voice trembling slightly. "No, Iโ€ฆ I think I'll just head back to our home."

The lie felt heavy on her tongue, but she couldn't bear the thought of returning to the normalcy of her life while carrying this weight. She needed answers, and she needed them from Jungkook.

They pulled into the familiar street of their. Y/n grabbed her backpack and a small duffel bag, the weight of responsibility settling heavy on her shoulders.

"Are you sure you'll be alright?" Mr. Kim asked, his gaze filled with concern. "You seemโ€ฆ"

"I'll be fine, Dad," she interrupted, forcing a smile. "Thanks for the trip."

With a quick hug, she shut herself in her room.

Collapsing onto the edge of the bed, Y/n buried her face in her hands, a sob racking her entire body.

Tears streamed down her face, blurring the reflection in the mirror across the room. Her gaze fell on her stomach, previously flat, now seemingly holding a universe of secrets. A single, choked sob escaped her lips.

"Is there even a baby in there?" she whispered, reaching out a hand to tentatively touch her stomach. "Or am I just imagining things?"

The fear was a physical presence, a cold hand squeezing around her heart. An illegitimate child. The words echoed in her mind, heavy with societal judgment.

Could she handle the whispers, the raised eyebrows?

Her thoughts shifted to Jungkook.

What would he say?

Rejection was a terrifying possibility, a tidal wave threatening to drown her.

Would he see her as a burden, a complication in his life?

A small, defiant voice rose within the cacophony of fear. "He needs to know," it insisted. "He has a right to know."

But did she?

Did Y/n truly want to bring him into this mess?

Their relationship, a secret dance on the edge of propriety, would become a tangled web of responsibility and obligation.

Another voice, stronger this time, pushed back. "This is mine too. This life growing inside meโ€ฆ" Her hand gently rested on her stomach again, a flicker of warmth battling the cold fear.

Did she want the baby?

The question hung in the air, heavy and unanswered. There was a part of her, a maternal instinct perhaps, that yearned for the miracle of life growing within her. But the practicalities, the uncertainties, cast a long shadow.

The image of Jungkook's face, etched with surprise or anger, flashed in her mind. The fear threatened to consume her again, but then a new wave of determination washed over her.

"No," she whispered, her voice firming with resolve. "I can't let fear control me. I need to talk to him. We'll figure this out, together."

The path ahead was uncertain, fraught with challenges. But for the first time since the doctor's words, a sliver of hope flickered within her. She wasn't alone in this.

She had to find Jungkook, to face him, face the truth, and face whatever future awaited them.

---

The familiar bustle of Jenesis University felt oddly sterile to Y/n the next day. The weight of her secret, a physical presence nestled in her lower abdomen, made every step seem heavy.

Her mission was clear โ€“ find Jungkook, tell him the truth. But a nagging unease gnawed at her.

What if he wasn't there?

What if something had changed?

Her first class flew by in a blur. The professor's droning voice seemed to fade into the background as Y/n replayed the doctor's words in her head.

'Pregnant.' The word echoed with a terrifying finality.

The bell signaling the end of class jolted her out of her reverie. With a newfound urgency, she grabbed her bag and made a beeline for the empty classroom where she usually found Jungkook prepping for his ethics in journalism class.

There, she found her friend, Lisa, hunched over a pile of textbooks. Relief washed over Y/n momentarily, but it was short-lived.

"Hey, Lisa," Y/n greeted, her voice trembling slightly. "Have you seen Professor Jeon?"

Lisa looked up, a frown creasing her forehead. "Professor Jeon? No, haven't seen him around. Didn't you hear? He resigned a week ago."

Y/n's heart lurched in her chest.

Resigned?

The date struck a terrifying chord โ€“ the very day she left for Jeju.

"Resigned?" she stammered, her voice barely a whisper.

Lisa nodded, oblivious to Y/n's growing panic.

"Yeah, apparently switched places with Professor Park. Professor Park is now the Director, and Professor Jimin is taking over the ethics class."

A wave of nausea washed over Y/n. This couldn't be happening.

How could he just leave?

Didn't he care?

Didn't he want to knowโ€ฆ?

The questions churned in her stomach, a bitter cocktail of betrayal and fear.

"But... why?" she managed to choke out, her voice weak.

Lisa shrugged. "No one really knows. Rumors are there was some big project he was pulled into, something classified. But hey, maybe Professor Jimin can shed some light. He's taking over the class after all."

The hope that had flickered within Y/n moments ago extinguished completely. Jimin, with his easygoing demeanor, wouldn't know, wouldn't understand. He wouldn't be able to help her navigate the storm brewing within her.

"Thanks, Lisa," Y/n mumbled, her voice thick with despair. The weight of her secret felt heavier than ever. The university hallways, once a familiar haven, now seemed to mock her predicament.

Where was Jungkook?

And more importantly, how would she find him now?

---

Fury, hot and raw, propelled Y/n through the familiar corridors of the university. Her steps echoed with a desperate urgency as she navigated towards the Director's office.

Finding Jungkook was paramount, and if Professor Park, the new Director, held any answers, she was determined to get them.

Bursting through the door without a knock, Y/n found herself face-to-face with Jimin, who looked up from behind a stack of files, his normally warm brown eyes laced with a hint of surprise.

"Professor Park," Y/n began, breathless from her hurried dash, "I need to see Professor Jeon. It's urgent."

Jimin, however, remained seated, his gaze unwavering. A flicker of something akin to amusement, or perhaps a chilling reminder of their power dynamic, crossed his features.

"Miss Kim," he began, his voice surprisingly cold, a stark contrast to his usual easygoing demeanor.

"While I appreciate your urgency, there's a certain decorum expected when a student interacts with their Director, or any professor for that matter."

A knot of apprehension tightened in Y/n's stomach. Jimin was all business, a wall of authority separating them.

"I understand," she stammered, her voice cracking under the weight of his gaze. "But this is important. It's about Professor Jeonโ€”"

"Professor Jeon," Jimin interrupted, a hint of sarcasm lacing his voice, "is no longer affiliated with Jenesis University. You'd be better served directing your inquiries elsewhere."

Y/n felt a cold dread seep into her bones.

No longer affiliated?

The gravity of his words hit her like a physical blow.ย  Her lifeline, her fragile hope of finding answers through Jungkook, was severed.

"But... where is he?" she pleaded, her voice barely a whisper.

Jimin leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers in front of him. "That, Miss Kim," he said, his voice devoid of warmth, "is classified information. And something that is frankly none of your concern."

"Classified information?" she spat, her voice raw with barely contained anger. "How convenient! You can just disappear a person, a professor, and expect me to accept it?"

Jimin leaned back in his chair, a cruel amusement flickering in his eyes. "Professor Jeon made his choice, Y/n. Maybe you should learn to take a hint."

"Take a hint?" Y/n's voice rose, desperation bleeding into her tone. "I can't even call him! His phone number doesn't work anymore!"

Jimin raised an eyebrow, a sardonic chuckle escaping his lips. "Having a professor's personal number? Now that's a violation of student-faculty code, wouldn't you say?" The mockery in his voice sent a fresh wave of anger surging through Y/n.

"Oh, spare me the act," she snapped. "This isn't about some schoolyard rules! This is serious, Professor Park. I need to see him."

"And why is that, Y/n?" Jimin's smile widened, the amusement morphing into something predatory. "Did your little fun with Professor Jeon leave you with more than just a tear stain?"

Y/n's cheeks burned. "Don't you dare," she hissed, her voice trembling with a mix of fury and shame.

"Don't dare what?" Jimin's voice dripped with icy sarcasm. "Shed light on the truth, Y/n? You, a student, tangled up with a professor? Sounds like trouble."

Shame burned in Y/n's gut, but it was quickly eclipsed by a fierce defiance. "This is between me and Jungkook," she said, her voice gaining strength. "And unlike you, he wouldn't use something like this to hit below the belt."

"Oh, naive, Y/n," Jimin drawled, his voice laced with disdain. "Maybe you should consider why a professor would be interested in a student like you. Maybe you're not as special as you think."

The barb hit its mark. Shame burned in Y/n's gut, but it was quickly eclipsed by a fierce defiance.

"This isn't some game!" she yelled, tears welling up in her eyes. "This is my life, and it's about to change drastically because of your sick games!"

Y/n's voice hitched in her throat. The raw vulnerability she'd exposed felt like a gaping wound, and Jimin's next words were a scalpel, cutting deep.

"Maybe you should've thought twice before spreading your legs for a professor," he spat, his voice dripping with venom.

The air in the room crackled with the sheer audacity of his statement. Y/n froze, the world tilting on its axis. Shock momentarily robbed her of speech.

"Why climb into his bed anyway?" Jimin continued, his eyes glinting with something akin to sadistic amusement. "Didn't you know Jeon has a reputation? Plays with women like toys and then tosses them aside. I thought you were smarter than that, Miss Kim."

Fury surged through her, battling with the burning humiliation. "This is beyond you, Professor Park," she managed, her voice trembling.

"Oh, is it?" Jimin leaned forward, his voice a low growl. "Then I'm most interested in knowing your reasoning for warming his bed. Was it a desperate attempt to get a passing grade on your Phoenix project? Or maybe you fell for the rich professor fantasy?"

Y/n recoiled as if slapped. Tears streamed down her face, blurring his sneering features. "This... this isn't some transaction, you monster!" she choked out.

But Jimin wasn't done. He pressed on, each word a fresh blow. "So, enlighten me, Y/n. Did you use your body to climb the social ladder? Or were you just another conquest for Professor Jeon to boast about to his buddies?"

His words, laced with cruelty, struck a deep chord. The shame he tried to evoke was eclipsed by a fierce protectiveness โ€“ for herself, for the love, however misguided, she felt for Jungkook, and for the child growing within her.

"You don't know anything about us!" she cried, her voice cracking. "This isn't some game, and it certainly has nothing to do with money or grades!"

Jimin's smile turned cold. "Then spill it, Y/n. Was it love? True love that made you forget all your morals and throw yourself at a professor?"

The question hung heavy in the air, a twisted mockery of their situation. Y/n opened her mouth to retort, but no words came out.

The truth was a tangled mess, a combination of naivety, desire, and a connection that went beyond mere attraction.

But to explain it to Jimin, with his twisted perspective, felt like throwing pearls before swine.

"See," he said, his voice dripping with false sympathy. "Silence speaks volumes, doesn't it? You used him, or maybe he used you. Either way, you're left holding the bag, and frankly, Y/n, it doesn't look like a pretty picture."

The finality in his voice slammed into her. Tears streamed down her face, a silent scream of frustration and despair. Jimin had effectively shut her down, leaving her defenseless and exposed.

But as she turned to leave, a flicker of defiance sparked in her eyes.

She didn't need his approval.

She didn't need anyone's.

She would find Jungkook, she would face this alone, and she would navigate this uncharted territory, head held high.......A/n : Emotional Turmoil begins :"(
