Chapter seventeen: Piece of paper

Pulling out my pencil I began to scribble down the endless notes the teacher was giving us; though it was hard to keep up whilst I had eyes burning through my head. Evan wouldn't stop staring and it made me inwardly laugh. This boy was truly everything I've ever wanted in someone.

Abruptly the door opened and when it did I felt nausea overwhelm me- it was Katie and she was back like nothing ever happened. "Finally you decided to come back to school" Mr Rhodes said with distaste as he scolded her briefly.

Katie scoffed and decided on not replying, instead she went and sat at her desk which was near Evan's. Her lips turning upwards as she reached my gaze. "Nice to see you again" she loudly whispered across to me.

Swallowing I felt the lead of my pencil breaking from my forceful grip upon it; the paper now beginning to separate into a small hole as the paper was indented.

a small note was placed on my desk which instantly piqued my interest; that was until I saw purple painted nails and the smell of Chanel. "Watch your back" she hissed in my ear as she walked past me.

Nervously I undid the balled up piece of paper and read it.

Nice to finally be back my little pet. I cannot wait to talk with you soon

Scrunching it back into a ball I shoved it into my pocket with distaste. What the hell was Katie planning?

"Is everything okay?" Evan asked as he scooted his desk closer to mine. Smiling briefly I nodded "yeah everything is great"

Evan nodded sheepishly "okay. Can't wait to finally give you a squeeze after class" he said sheepishly which made my cheeks burn.

Nibbling my lower lip I turned away "just focus on your work, idiot"

"So I was thinking- what about a trip after graduation?" Henry blurted out with like a spontaneous child. "I was thinking... Scotland"

Evan raised an eyebrow "Scotland ? Isn't it like really cold there-

"Shut up. It's a really pretty place and I know you'll both love it" He cut in smugly "besides you can drink over there at eighteen"

Nodding my head enthusiastically I grinned "well that's all you had to say. I'm totally in for a getaway to Scotland"

Evan shrugged "sure but I'm going to get totally wasted- nobody will stop me" he teased which made me roll my eyes.

"But we do need to get you a date otherwise you'll be third wheeling the whole time"

Henry frowned "I don't need anyone thanks. Just don't fuck in-front of me and we are good"

Swatting his upper arm I gave him a playful glare "Henry stop that !"

Henry raised his hands up "don't shoot me. I'm only saying the truth"

Our last exams were soon which means graduation and then college; I couldn't believe I was going to be leaving this hell hole finally but it did worry me that Evan and I would be separated.

We all grabbed lunch and sat at our usual table which was away from everyone else, Everyone stuck away from us which was fine as they knew Katie had a growing passion to ruin my fucking life.

Evan snaked his arm around my shoulders and kissed the corner of my lips which made me giggle childishly "how did I get so lucky to have such a beautiful girlfriend ?"

Henry pretended to gag and turned away "maybe I do need to find a companion. You two are sickening"

Me and Evan shot a look at one another before bursting out laughing from agreement "you're not wrong. But yes- let's set you up with a date"

Katie strutted over to our table and she flicked her hair as she walked in a egotistical type of way; she thought her shit didn't smell and I hated that.

"Ahh it's my best friend!" she chirped, looking over all of us like fresh meat. "I was wondering when I would get to see you all again"

Evan fidgeted in his seat, clearly not wanting to speak incase it fuelled an argument. "Go away Katie" I hissed

"Why- what you gonna do?" She hissed back with her fingers gripping into my shoulder "you're lucky I didn't put you in fucking hospital-

Evan stood up and grabbed Katie's arm, pushing her off me with his breath hitching in his throat. Anger was burning off him that it was almost scary "you leave her the fuck alone. You hear me?"

"Aww you poor puppy. What could you do? Hit a girl" she scoffed "you know what they do to... women beaters"

This time anger decided to accompany me as I stood up and grabbed Katie's wrist "you're such a fucking cunt. Wow"

Katie was shocked by my comment and didn't know how to respond- luckily for her she didn't as I dragged her out into the halls. What was I fucking doing ?

"What's this all about you little duck" she grimaced, pulling her wrist away from me.

"You need to stop this shit, you're such a self entitled bitch" I growled "you have no reason to be like this with me and especially not the people I care about"

Katie pouted "it's so much fun though, do you not think so?"

Raising my hand up I slapped her around the face which sent her backwards "I'm not a little girl you can taunt and do what you want with anymore. You hear me?"

Stepping closer to her I saw her timidly back into the lockers "I'll always have something you'll never have which is people who love me and trust me. This is all a jealousy tactic and it's getting boring"

Kneeling down to eye level I grabbed her face "you may have your sidekick Beth and you're both planning when to put me in hospital how you put it, but guess who I have ?"

Katie remained silent and couldn't bare look into my eyes which only added to my growing confidence.

"I have Evan and Henry; and boy you do not want to mess with them. Beth is a pathetic little girl following you around because she thinks you're some queen but when she realises you're nothing... you'll be all alone. Your boyfriend only wants you for sex too. It's pathetic. You're lonely and always will be"

Dropping my grip I stood up and scoffed to myself "why was I ever scared of you? Look at you... you're nothing"

Katie clenched her jaw and grabbed ahold of my hair, pulling my down on the floor with her legs now straddling me. "You think you know everything Maeve but you don't"

"All you are is some goth chick with boys to protect you. Some may be jealous but me? Why would I. You're easy and as soon as you don't give them pussy they will be leaving you-

Raising my hand up I slapped her again which sent a red mark across her cheek "I don't need sex to keep people. I'm not a whore"

Evan quickly rushed down the hall and picked up Katie who was still on top of me "you get the fuck off her right now" he growled primitively which made goosebumps rise on my skin.

"Are you okay? Did she hurt you?" Henry said in a panic as he inspected my face. I shook my head "no- she didn't get a chance"
