Chapter eight: New boy

After class me and Henry went into the lunch hall where everyone was digging into their food. Me on the other hand as always hated the school food so would instead play with it until I found an edible piece.

"So, you're from England" I asked with a smile "not that I couldn't tell of course"

Jokingly Henry nodded "that obvious Hmm... would of never noticed"

Evan strolled over to us with Aubrey next to him, when I peered down I saw that their hands were attached which made tears unwillingly prick at my eyes but luckily nobody noticed.

"Oh who is this" Evan asked with a raised eyebrow.

"This is Henry- new student" I introduced which made Evan purse his lips together in thought.

"Right, I'm Evan" he said back as he outstretched his hand though it felt like there was some animosity which was unusual for Evan as he was always so cheerful and welcoming.

"Nice to meet you" Henry said awkwardly which Evan decided on not responding to. Aubrey and him then sat down and were being as close as usual.

"So there is a house party later on today- you going?" Aubrey said eagerly "everyone is going and it would be great if you did"

I sighed "a party? I'm not really the type" I admitted truthfully but Evan quickly cut in "we will go"

Widening my eyes I shook my head "I didn't say yes-

"You're going. I don't care" Evan chuckled with a tedious grin. "Besides I need my sidekick with me"

Running a hand through my hair I nodded "sure whatever but can Henry come ?"

Looking over to Henry I lightly bit my lip unconsciously. "It would be good for him to get to know everyone"

Evan rolled his eyes for a split second which went unnoticed to everyone but me. "Sure, British boy can come"

Henry looked baffled and darted a look between us "did I even get the option?" He grinned warmly

I placed my hand on his arm "in this friendship group apparently permission isn't required"

Aubrey clasped her hands together "then that's settled. It's round Lily's house. Do you know her address ?"

I nodded briefly "of course. She is a nice girl"

I still wasn't the best with having friends but over time people were wanting to converse with me more/ probably due to the fact I had Evan as my good luck charm. Katie and Charlie on the other hand will always be dickheads.

"So should I meet you there or-

I shook my head "no, I'll come pick you up" I stated to Henry who smiled. "I recently got my drivers licence so why not"

Evan looked rather pissed off but I brushed it off and focused back onto my food.

"I have some news" Aubrey suddenly said which made me raise an eyebrow. Evan then looked very uncomfortable.

"We don't have to right now" Evan mumbled which made Aubrey shake her head. "No let's just tell them now. I want to scream it from the rooftops!"

I flickered my eyes between them and could only feel dread, I had a feeling of what this announcement would be but I was inwardly praying it wasn't true. Please don't be true.

"Well... me and Evan have decided to be official" she gushed with doe like eyes.

Clenching my jaw; numbness overtook me as I stared blankly at the pair. "Congratulations" I said sarcastically which made Aubrey frown.

"What's the matter? It's good news.." Aubrey began to mumble but Henry caught on to my sudden hostility and wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

"That's really good news for you both. Maybe I can get a chance one day with this cutie" he chimed which made me blush profusely.

Staring at him my heart began to quicken and all the saliva in my mouth dried. "I mean sure I don't know her that good yet but I have eyes"

Blinking to regain my composure I saw that Evan from the corner of my eye was glaring deeply at Henry; those chocolate brown eyes of his were darker than usual.

Aubrey pouted her lips "that is adorable. I totally see you both being a good match!"

Biting my lower lip I laughed lightly to myself "good thing he is cute too then"

Henry looked taken back and grinned at me from ear to ear "then let's say this party is to getting to know one another"

I nodded "sounds like a plan"

I had just gotten home from school and I was feeling shattered but I now had a party to go to thanks to Evan. Not only did I find out he has got a girlfriend but now I have to watch them be all lovey with one another. Though least I had Henry coming with me; he wasn't bad to look at and boy did I need a good distraction.

Scouring through my clothes I chose to wear a low-cut beige coloured bodysuit with a black pencil skirt and tights. Nothing too special but I wasn't accustomed to looking 'hot' if that's the correct terminology when dressing for parties.

I let my hair loose on my shoulders in which I straightened it and put the top half into a messy bun, I had recently recoloured my hair black so my paled complexion was even more enhanced than before but I liked that.

Over the last six months I thankfully had put some weight back on so I was feeling better with my body image, if I had even attempted to wear something like this before I would of laughed at myself.

"Can I come in?" Evan asked behind my door which I replied "sure"

Evan wore a black oversized t shirt with some cargos; his style always suited him so well and I loved it. His dress sense was so simple yet worked so well.

"I just wanted to talk about earlier" he commented nervously

I scoffed "about you getting with Aubrey? Don't worry about it"

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you before or least tell you before she came out with it. It must of felt awkward" he admitted sadly

I rolled my eyes and placed a hand on my hip "what do you want me to say? I'm happy for you. I don't care too much about your love life to tell you the truth"

"Has it.. bothered you at all?" Evan blurted out with though I could tell he instantly regretted saying that.

"No Evan. Not in the slightest" I said blankly, I was normally a bad liar but for some reason even I believed myself.

"Okay I was just double checking..." he trailed off still toying with his hands.

"What's with this Henry guy then?"

I chuckled "nothing at the moment but he is cute" I stated with a shrug "he is also a nice guy... and it's been awhile since I've had a romantic interest"

Evan pursed his lips together "romantic interest? You've known him a day-

"No, not like that. I mean someone that I could potentially pursue is what I meant" I interjected

Evan scratched the back of his neck and nodded "right.. well we best get going then"

I nodded briefly and grabbed my bag. "You look really pretty" Evan complimented as I walked past.

I smiled "you're not looking too bad yourself"
