It has been two months. Two unbearably long months since the shooting in school.
Turn out, her uncle had been behind all those shooting incidents. He was trafficking guns into Korea for a long time.
Yeorin was devastated to hear her uncle has been shot and was now in a come, which he's likely to never recover from. It was sad to face the hard truth, that the uncle whom she grew up with was a killer.
After he fell into come, she discovered he had murdered her parents when he was in America. Which explained why they never called her once.
Gyujin was taken to in after the shooting in school until his hearing in court.
So, she was completely alone.
Seeing the broken and grieving look on her face, Lee Do decided to permanently adopt her. He felt responsible after what happened to her uncle.
Yeorin was thankful for Do's kindness and was forever grateful for his support throughout her grief.
He promised to stand by her during Gyujin's trial, where she has to explain her testimony. He promised to be there for her thick and thin.
Which was coming closer and closer, until the day arrived.
Today was the day she gets so see Gyujin after two long months. Her stomach was in knots because of either nervousness or fear.
She was nervous to see Gyujin, while she was scared to speak publicly, in front of the whole media of what had happen to her. Of what Seongjun did to drive Gyujin to his breaking point.
The judge asked her to come today to share her testimony. She was sitting beside Do as they waited for someone to call her inside to the bench.
"I know you're nervous, but everything will be alright." Do placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
"I know.... I'm just hoping the judge will go easy on Gyujin." She whispered.
"He's not a bad kid. The judge will se that." His voice was calm but he knew how sensitive this girl was.
Just then, the door opened, a man in suit came out, looking at the two outside the courtroom.
"Miss Moon?" He asked, looking at Yeorin.
"Y-Yes." She stood up, patting her skirt down.
"You may enter now." She nodded.
Looking at Do expectantly, he stood up and walked along side her into the courtroom.
Inside, the courtroom was buzzing with quiet chatter as she and Do walked in. Her eyes immediately locked with Gyujin.
He looked almost the same.
He was dressed in a suit, but he looked tired. His eyes instantly lit up when he saw his beloved girlfriend walking down the aisle between the seats.
On the other side of the room was sitting Seongjun. Her breath hitched in fear as she saw his smug look on his face, only for it to disappear when he saw her walk in.
A security guard came forward and accompanied her to the questioning bench.
"Miss Moon do you swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth?" The same suited man asked.
"Yes." She shakily said.
"Be seated." He motioned to the bench.
She looked around nervously as she sat down, squirming in her seat as all eyes and cameras fixed on her.
"Mr. Hwang, you may began the questioning." Judge Min stated, making the lawyer sitting next to Gyujin stood up.
"Miss Moon, I believe you've been in a romantic relationship with Mr. Park, isn't that right?" Mr. Hwang asked.
"I do." Yeorin nodded, trying to keep her voice steady.
"Did you have any relationship with Mr. Kang over there?" He pointed to where Seongjun was sitting.
"No." She whispered.
"Is it true he sexually assaulted you multiple times?" Mr. Hwang dropped the bomb into the courtroom, making the room filled with gasps and whispers.
"Order, order!" The judge banged with his gavel.
"Y-Yes." Yeorin lowered her head, unable to look up from her lap.
"Mr. Kang stated you wrote him a love letter. Was that the truth?"
"Not completely." She whispered in shame.
"Objection!" Seongjun's lawyer jumped up from his seat. "Can the witnesses clarify her answer, whether she did write or did not write that letter?"
"Miss Moon, please elaborate your answer." Judge Min said.
"I did write that letter, but not in my name. My, now, ex best friend was in love with Seongjun..... She made me write that love letter to him, because she didn't want to, but she never signed it with her name."
"How come Mr. Kang believes you were the one who wrote it?"
"Nayeon didn't want to give him the letter herself, so she made me give it to him. Later he asked her to meet to meet him under the bleachers, but she still didn't want to go. She made me go." Yeorin felt tears welling up in her eyes as she quietly explained.
"Do you mind tell us how his assaults began?"
"He asked me about my love life, I answered it and tried to shift the conversation to be about Nayeon. He then grabbed me by my hair and dragged me to the nearest supply closet." She whispered.
Gyujin felt his heart squeezing painfully in his chest. This wasn't the first time she spoke about her first attack to him. Yet it still made him want to throw up.
"What did he do after he dragged you to the supply closet?" Mr. Hwang softly asked, not wanting to make the girl more uncomfortable.
"He r-raped me." She chocked out the words.
"Miss Moon. If you feel uncomfortable, we can take a quick break." Judge Min leaned down to quietly tell her this.
"I-I'm already, thank you."
"Shall we continue?" Mr. Hwang asked politely.
"Y-Yes."
"So, forgive me for asking such a question. How many times did Mr. Kang unconcentually touch you?"
"T-Twelve times." Seongjun's parents gasped very loudly, looking at their son with disgust.
Do closed his eyes as the words sank in his head. This poor girl was once happily living her high school life, and now she has to live with the trauma of being raped.
What a fucked up world it was.
