Chapter 53: Just as promised
02:16, 3 October 2018Hato's P.O.V.
I sat down in the corner of my tent and looked at the three other people in your tent. Two of them were tied up in the corner, aka Historia and Ymir, and the other was just sitting next to me feeling really awkward, aka, Chelsea. We stay where we were, not saying a single word, as a small lamp hanging from the wall lit the small space.
"Um," said Historia, breaking the awkward silence," How have you guys been?"
"Mm, pretty decent," I said.
"Uh, cool," said Historia," What about you, Chelsea?"
"I'm not dead yet," she said," So good."
"Uh," Historia said with a weird look on her face that said she didn't know how to react to that," That's good, I think."
"So what about you two?" I asked," I mean, I know it's probably not that peaceful at HQ, especially since you train everyday and we left."
"Um, I'm not sure what to say," said Historia," Everyone is worried like crazy and haven't stopped panicking for the past couple of months. Especially Armin and Levi."
"Welp, that's expected," Chelsea and I said at the same time.
"Why are you acting so calm about this?" Ymir nearly yelled," You guys left without warning and didn't even leave a clue as to why. What were you thinking?!"
"Well we didn't exactly want to leave when we did, since we had just gotten back from an expedition and it would have thrown the Survey Corps for a loop ," Chelsea explained," But Haruhi told us that someone was coming, and this person was extremely powerful and dangerous. I didn't exactly understand it, but Hato seemed to understand all of it."
I nodded my head as Ymir and Historia looked at me curiously.
"I know who this person is," I explained," He's an extremely powerful person who will kill anyone that gets in the way of his goal. And well, I'm in the way."
Ymir and Historia looked at me shocked when they said that.
"Wait, so you left so that we couldn't also get in the way?" Historia asked.
"Correct," I said," He doesn't show mercy either. You're dead if you get in the way, and none of us want that. So we left to train and get stronger."
"I see," said Ymir," You're really not underestimating this guy, are you?"
I nodded my head. Suddenly, I realized something as a smile appeared on my face.
"Hey Ymir," I said happily," Remember when I said I would show you guys something?"
"Hm," Ymir said while looking at me," Yeah, I do. Wasn't it what you call anime?"
I nodded my head rapidly as I saw Chelsea smile from the corner of my eye.
"We get to watch anime tonight?" Chelsea asked.
I turned my head to look at her and nodded my head. Chelsea's smile grew bigger as she threw a fist in the air.
"YAY!" she beamed," What anime will we watch? Cells at work? Gakkou Gurashi? Lucky Star? Madoka Magica?"
"Those are all really great anime series," I said," But I think we need to show them one of those anime new Otakus watch first."
Ymir and Historia looked at us really confused as Chelsea thought about it for a second.
"Oh, I see," she said," So Fullmetal Alchemist, Durarara, or Assassination Classroom?"
"Assassination Classroom, obviously," I said with grinning.
"Ooh good choice," Chelsea said while pulling the first season of Assassination Classroom out of nowhere," But there's no German version. What will we do about that?"
"Subtitles, my friend," I said," The most useful thing when you want to watch a show in another language."
"Yeah, yeah, that's great," said Chelsea," But there aren't any subtitles in this dvd."
We stayed quiet for a few more minutes as Chelsea and I just stared at each other. That is, until I brought both my hands up like I was playing rock paper scissors and said.
"Rock paper scissors to see who has to steal Haruhi's subtitle device," I said.
"HOW MANY THINGS DOES THAT GIRL NEED?!" Ymir yelled, but we just ignored her.
In the end, I ended up stealing the subtitle device while trying not to let Haruhi know, which was extremely difficult. But I came back just in time to see Chelsea setting up the small TV. When she noticed I was back, she looked at me and smiled.
"Ah, I see you came back unharmed," Chelsea said happily.
"Why are these two this weird?" Ymir asked Historia as I threw the device at Chelsea.
"I have no clue," Historia replied," But I wouldn't call them weird. They're more...."
"Crazy, outlandish, insane, psycho," Chelsea said while hooking the device up to the tv and putting the dvd in.
"I was going to say different," said Historia.
"But your words work better," said Ymir.
I was about to say something back at her, but then the opening song came on. I turned my attention to the tv as Chelsea smiled at the three of us.
"It's starting," she said.
And for the next few hours, we watched the first season of Assassination Classroom. This was about my third time watching the series, but I still really enjoyed it. And it seemed Ymir and Historia did too. I could tell, since everytime something funny happened on screen, they laughed, when something sad happened, they also looked sad.
After a while, I looked outside the window of the tent and sighed. It was really late, and I was pretty sure we would train a lot more the next day. I looked over at Chelsea as she was about to play the next episode and tapped her shoulder.
"Hm," Chelsea said as she turned her head to look at me.
I pointed to the sky and while taking the remote out hers with the other. Chelsea's eyes followed where my finger was pointing until it landed on the night sky.
"Oh wow," she said," It's pretty late."
I nodded my head as she turned her head, grabbed the remote back, and turned the tv off.
"So I'm guessing we're going to sleep now?" Ymir asked.
"Yeah," I said," We need all the rest we can get for more training."
"Agreed!" Chelsea said.
I moved my hand over to the lamp as Chelsea threw two blankets at Historia and Ymir.
"You two need to sleep too," said Chelsea," So here's some warmth. Nights have been getting a lot colder for some reason, and we don't want you guys to freeze."
"Uh, thanks," Ymir said as I turned the lamp off," But how has it been getting colder. I mean, yes it's cold for being the beginning of summer. But it's not going to be that..."
Just before she could say anything else, the temperature dropped surprisingly low. We all shivered and started shaking violently. Historia and Ymir wrapped the blankets around their body as much as they could, since they were still tied up, while I stood up and looked out the window.
"What do you see, Hato?" Chelsea asked as she rubbed her hands on her arms.
"I'm not sure, let me see," I said while taking a closer look.
Clouds were covering the sky, and a harsh wind was blowing through the air. I looked back at Chelsea and frowned.
"Doesn't look to good," I said.
"I have a bad feeling about this," Chelsea said.
I nodded my head. Suddenly, the entire camp disappeared, leaving the four of us standing there, looking confused. Our clothes also seemed to change. I was now wearing a grey skirt, a white collared shirt, a black tie, and a grey sweater.
"What the heck," said Ymir.
"Girls," we heard Haruhi say, causing us to look over at her.
She was standing a few meters away from us, at the edge of the wall. Haruhi was staring out at the forest outside of Wall Maria, making all of us confused.
"Are you prepared?" she asked while turning around to look at us.
We all looked at her surprised when we saw her face. She looked extremely serious, and it didn't even look like an act.
"What do you mean?" asked Historia.
Haruhi didn't respond as she looked back out at the ground beyond the wall. We all looked at her with concern until I felt a huge wave of power wash over us. Immediately, I realized exactly what was happening
"Oh no," I said, catching the other girl's attention," Not now."
"What is it Hato?" Chelsea asked/ yelled at me.
"You can sense it too, can't you Chelsea?" Haruhi asked," That strong wave of power."
Chelsea looked at Haruhi confused.
"A little," she said," But I can barely tell what it is."
"He's here," I said while looking out at the ground beyond Wall Maria," He's finally come to retrieve it."
"Wait," said Chelsea," You mean the guy we've been training to fight against for the past few months?"
I nodded my head.
"That's right," said Haruhi," Syaoran from the Tsubasa series has finally come."
