Chapter 42 | Longing

08:56, 25 June 2024

- KYOKO POV -

- A Few Days Later -

Seeing Inuyasha leave me to myself those days ago left a tiny amount of disappointment in me. Yet, I wasn't mad. I'm surprised he even talked to me as much as he did.

Standing now, I went down the hill I had been sitting on, moving on from the scenery. Coming down to the village again, in the distance lady Kaede sat in a field of herbs, a bamboo basket in her hand, squatting to pick them. Coming over to her, I hovered slightly. " Lady Kaede is there any way I can help you?"

Looking up at me, she handed me the basket standing immediately and started to stride away. " Follow me Ye child, there is someone who wants to meet you."

Someone who wants to meet me?

Following the old priestess, she led me to a hut similar to mine, yet it seemed livelier somehow. Coming in, the two of us laid eyes on the girl sitting on the floor. She looked to be in her adolescence still - yet slightly not. She had messy brown hair and wide brown eyes that widened with every movement of her face she made.

Springing up she came towards me with a huge smiled spread across her face. " Your really beautiful!" She exclaimed.

"O- Oh. Thank you." I said. Why do I feel ... threatened right now?

"Rin, bring down Ye tone."

"Oh, I'm sorry Lady Kaede!"

Forcing a smile, the three of us stood awkwardly while this Rin girl smiled wider and wider with each moment. Wait ... Rin? As in ... the Rin who Sesshomaru favors and ... likes?

Setting down the basket, as I did, Rin grabbed my hands holding them in hers, her static energy practically flowing off of her.

"Sorry! It's just - I've been wanting to meet you since Jaken told me about you!"

Jaken ... told her about ... me? Wait ... was this when they had gone? Had Sesshomaru come here ... to see her?

Feeling a bit out of place, Rin squeezed my hands tighter forming the widest smile I had ever seen.

" I hope you and Lord Sesshomaru can be happy!"

Freezing, I looked at her with surprise and confusion. Me ... and Sesshomaru happy? Wait ... does she think ...

"Um, Rin, me and Sesshomaru are not ... like that."

Turing her smile into a frown, she looked serious now as she spoke again. " Lady Kyoko, it's alright if you are unaware of it yourself, but don't fear, the time will come for you two!"

Okay?

Leaving the happy go lucky girl as she started to talk to Kaede, I exchanged goodbyes and I left Kaede and her in the home, going off towards where I was sitting, the day becoming midday.

I wonder ... where inuyasha went to?

- THIRD PERSON POV -

She was jealous. She knew deep down it was foolish to be jealous of a child.

Overall - Kyoko was upset that they had never come to visit her like they had for Rin. For how was she any different?

Walking near where the bone eaters well was, she then heard a rustle behind her. Taking out her bow she placed an arrow from her quiver on it and raised it up. It was a demonic presence.

Now, a rounded pink demon with giant goofy eyes and a tiny fox tail appeared in front of her, floating in the air.

Is this some sort of joke? - she thought. Lowering her bow, she stood in front of it looking at it quizzically, eyeing the strange demon in front of her.

"Shippo, stop trying to creep out the new priestess!" A woman's voice shouted.

Looking past the demon she had called Shippo, a woman with brown hair could be seen in Kyoko's view, walking towards her. Slung on her shoulder, a young child could be seen to be sleeping on her back.

With a poof - the demon transformed from the cloud into a small childlike demon with light orange brown hair. His garments that of a blue Hakama and nothing else.

Coming up to her now, the woman extend her hand out smiling in a soft way that Kyoko found herself admiring her for.

" I'm sorry about his behavior, he's still a kid. Your the new priestess right?; welcome to the village, my name is Sango."

Shaking her hand, Kyoko introduced herself as well, excusing the kid demon's behavior. " Oh, it's nice to meet you Sango, yes I'm the new priestess, my name is Kyoko."

Feeling a tingling sensation crawl it's way up her back, out of an unknown instinct Kyoko reached down and grabbed something, stopping it.

Looking down, now near her butt, a monk smiled sheepishly, popping up in an instance of being found out. He had tried to grope her. And she - had stopped his hand.

Laughing a little now, he grabbed Kyoko's right hand kissing it, his face relaxing." Lady Kyoko is it?My? Don't you have beautiful hands?"

Staring down disgusted somewhat, Sango appeared beside him and grabbed the monk by the ear - dragging him away.

"It was nice meeting you Kyoko, but my husband needs to be taught a lesson right now!" Sango shouted out.

Forming a smile to her, Kyoko grimaced inside at the fact that all monks might be lecherous. But it looks like this woman keeps her monk in check.

Turing around now, Kyoko looked down to see the child fox staring straight at her. Unsure, Kyoko tucked a stand of her hair behind her ear, speaking out. "Shippo..,right? Do you know where Inuyasha is?"

Snapping out of whatever daze he was in, he pointed to the side and scoffed a little, as if dissatisfied. " Yeah, Inuyasha is by the bone eaters well, where he always is."

Where he always is?

"Could you take me to him?"

Nodding he scurried off as she followed behind him.

Coming to a clearing, in the middle of the field, a wooden well covered in vines and weeds rest in the center, one Inuyasha sitting next to it, his face - solemn.

Coming up to him, Kyoko found herself smiling. She didn't understand why, but inside she could feel that she found herself wanting him to like her.

Noticing her, Inuyasha's ears perked up, his sad face Turing down into a frown.

"What - What the hell are you doing here?!"

Smiling, Kyoko answered, trying to be understanding to his mood. " I just wanted to see where you were; call it curiosity."

Frowning lower, Inuyasha then covered his nose, his face turning to disgust.

"Geez ... You seriously reek of him ... it's nauseating."

Now angry all over again in a second, Kyoko could feel a small voice in her head telling her to hit him - but she ignored it.

"But ...  he's you brother ... shouldn't you like your brothers smell?"

"Pshhh!! HELL NO!"

Sitting down next to him, Kyoko spoke aloud, her inner curiosity egging her on to ask Inuyasha. " Why are you here?"

- KYOKO POV -

Embarrassed now, Inuyasha scooted away from me brining his head down. " Y- Y'know ... that girl I mentioned to you before? She .... She's in the well."

Peeking over the side, I looked down trying to see if she was there, to no surprise she was not. " But she's not down there though."

"Idiot! I meant she went through the well and to her world - arrggghhh it's too hard to explain!" He fumed now aggravated.

Laughing a little , I tried to calm him down " Alright, alright, you don't have to explain it to me. In simple terms though - the girl you like is far away and this is where you get to visit her?"

Perking up his ears, a giant blush spread over his cheeks as he turned his head away from me, mumbling before becoming loud. " Y - Yeah something like that ... "

Brining my legs up, I held them close to my chest, looking beyond the trees to see a faint sunset. The day went by so fast and yet ... why did it feel so slow?

Plugging his nose again, I looked to my left curious to Inuyasha behavior. " So it isn't you huh? Geez..., you reeked so much of him last time I must've had the two confused."

Raising my brow, Inuyasha turned to meet my eyes, his eyes and face becoming annoyed and pissed off. " Keh! That's bastards here again."

Sesshomaru's ... here?

Standing up I didn't bother turning back to meet Inuyasha eyes again, asking him in urgency, " W - Where is he?"

"Keh! By the village near that hill you where on this morning - I think."

Feeling a smile coming onto my lips, I looked back to Inuyasha. " Thanks."

"D- Don't thank me stupid!!I - I didn't do shit!!" He said stuttering and turning embarrassed- for whatever reason.

Now walking away, once I felt like I was out of his line of sight I started to run - for some reason - I wanted to. I needed to. Or else he might leave.

Feeling the wind brush my face with it's cold - I didn't care.

I needed to see him.

We had been apart for so long.

Did he come here ... to see me?

What's he doing here?

What should I say to him?

Stopping and getting to the hill I had been at this morning, I stared ahead of me as the countless questions that had once filled my mind stopped letting only one word fill them.

Sesshomaru.

__________Authors Note - Ngl I legit forgot that Rin existed. Btw, she won't be coming back. :/Truth be told I just wanted Kyoko to interact with all the other characters and that's why their meetings were so short. Sue me? Also, this chapter felt like it was rushed - and that's partly because it was cause ... sorry I posted a little late yall ;>
