Chapter 36 | Position
08:59, 25 June 2024- KYOKO PROV -
Looking in front of me, the man that stood wore the outfit of a monk, a long staff in his hand; his light brown hair tied back and covered with a straw hat. He had blue eyes and was wearing a big smile.
... Did he just ask me ... to bear him a son?
Feeling my eyebrows raise in judgement and disgust, I spoke. " Did you ... just ask me to bear you a son?"
Smiling wider, the monk then reached for my hands grabbing them - making me drop my bow. As he held my hands, I froze still - stunned at what was occurring. I- I've never held someone's hands before, what in the world does he think he's doing -
"Priestess, I know we have just met, but when I gazed at you from afar - I knew you were the one."
Holding my hands closer to him now, his eyes shined with an admiration.
"Forgive my rudeness, but - would you consider becoming my wife?"
... What? Your wife?
Opening my mouth to speak, the monk interrupted me. " Please consider fair priestess!"
Taking my hands away from him, I stepped a few paces back. " I'm going to have to reject your ... offer good monk - now if you'll excuse me."
Picking up my bow, I began walking fast - but then heard the monks voice behind me, AGAIN. "Wait! - may I know your name?"
Looking to my side, I watched as he held his gaze directly at me. This guy is persistent ... but maybe I should still try to be nice ... " It's Kyoko."
"Kyoko ... that's a beautiful name."
Forcing a fake smile, I then began walking faster away from him - however he perused behind me still." Okay - Enough." I said, turing around to meet his gaze. Still holding his bright smile - I could immediately tell that his determination to make me his wife - was unwavering.
"I don't want to be your wife." I said blatantly; anger starting to rise inside of me.
Looking unfazed by my rejection, the monk then frowned and spoke - sounding dramatic." I understand. Its just ... Oh, I may have sounded too forward ... Lady Kyoko ... I shall wait until your heart finds it way it me - but until then I shall love you forever.~ "
Now utterly uncomfortable, confused and even more disgusted - I spoke, my eyebrows now narrowed. " Don't follow me."
Walking away from the monk, I pulled my hair back with my hand. Jeez ... I haven't even been gone that long and I'm already being proposed to ... I need to hurry up and get back to Sesshomaru ... who knows what'll happen next if I remain here any longer ...
~
Having taken off and leaving the weird monk to himself, I finally found the blacksmiths hut due to help from asking a local. After asking the blacksmith to refine my arrows, I walked out of their hut, looking both ways to see if there was any sign of that monk. With the coast clear, I quickly sprinted away, not wanting to run into the weirdo again.
~
Making it away from the village, I then heard a sound of distress - a man's voice coming from the forest in the far distance.
Feeling my eyes widen some, I ran towards the yell, a panic rising over me. Are they hurt? Wait - there's a demon presence - but this one belongs to -
Getting closer to the voice, I stood, my mouth agape at what I was seeing. There in front of me, Sesshomaru stood holding the monk I had met before by his collar, holding him in the air.
Sighing, I rubbed my temples in annoyance. The monk ... must've thought ... Sesshomaru was a demon demon ... well he technically is ...
Walking towards the two of them, I tried to remain calm. I'm not sure at how Sesshomaru is going to feel if I ask him to let the monk go ... but I need to calm down this situation as fast as possible so it doesn't escalate more ...
"Sesshomaru ... why are you holding this monk against his will?"
Moving his head to the side, Sesshomaru's eyes focused on me, his mouth opening to answer me. " This monk was foolish enough to try to take my life."
... that's what I thought ...
Even if the guy is a creep, I can't let Sesshomaru end his life ...
Walking up closer to the two of them, I extended my arm out, grabbing Sesshomaru's wrist that held the monks collar.
Still struggling, the monk opened his once tightened shut eyes and pleaded to me. " Get away fair Lady Kyoko! This demon will kill you!"
Frowning, I ignored the monk and turned to Sesshomaru, looking straight into his sunset eyes. For a moment the two of us stared at each other - as if he knew what I was going to say.
Let him go.
After a moment of waiting, Sesshomaru's gaze adverted to the side to avoid mine, his grip immediately loosening, dropping the monk abruptly onto the ground.
"Ow!" The monk said, rubbing his side.
As Sesshomaru walked away, the monk stood up quickly, coming towards me - grabbing my hands again. " Lady Kyoko! A - Are you okay?!"
Nodding, I faked a smile towards the monk. " Yes, I am fine; Although, Mr Monk, I advise you not to try to confront Sesshomaru again... Please" I said, a nervousness still spread over my body. I can't believe Sesshomaru listened to me ... if he hadn't I wouldn't know what I'd done ...
"Sesshomaru? Lady Kyoko - don't tell me your friends with that demon?!"
Shaking my head side to side now, I spoke trying to end this conversation.
"No - no, we are merely acquaintances, me and Sesshomaru have an ... understanding."
Looking a bit unsure, the monk grasped my hands tighter - making me even more uncomfortable.
But then - in an instant- the hands that had been over mine - weren't. In a moment - a hand had grabbed my waist from behind, pulling me back and away from the monk.
Dumbfounded - I looked behind me to see Sesshomaru, his blank stare now serious and angry, his eyebrows slightly titled down from their original place.
... Sesshomaru?
