Chapter 28 | Surrender

23:04, 1 February 2024

- THIRD PERSON POV -

Biting her lip, the priestess hardened her fists. She couldn't believe that she had just spoke those words.

Going towards the barrier, she placed a hand on it brining her other up holding a talisman. Closing her eyes she concentrated on gathering all of the spiritual energy into the talisman, and then putting it back into her.

She then spoke, lowering her eyebrows seriously. "This is ... going to take awhile. There's more of my spiritual energy than there was years ago ... so it's going to take longer to extract it."

Starting her chants, above the barrier started to come down. Near, demons lurked, ready to spring into action to claim the Muranaga.

Going towards the woods, Sesshomaru went off to kill the demons that lingered near. Jaken however stayed behind, watching in awe and excitement as the barrier went down. For he was overly pleased that his lord would finally obtain the Muranaga.

- KYOKO POV -

Struggling, sweat started to form on my forehead as I struggled to concentrate. The sounds of demons cries lingered in my ears ... as well as Jakens loud voice.

"Priestess, how dare you take this long! My Lord Sesshomaru should not be wasting his time on mere lowly demons!!"

Annoyed, I stopped my chants. " Then ... why don't you go and help him?"

Jaken then stood silent. I guess ... he didn't think of that? Waiting for him to answer, he then screeched, " Oh Milord!! your faithful servant is on his way!!"

Hearing his clumsy footsteps patter against the ground, I waited for them to be gone. After a moment they were.

Opening my eyes, I looked straight ahead to see the barrier was now completely down. Ok ... now for the hard part.

Getting the talisman in both of my hands I held it, putting the energy within, into me. Successful, I fell on all fours, trying to catch my breath.

Wind blew behind me, the moon now out again, no longer covered by the clouds. Footsteps came out of the winds silence. Glancing back, Sesshomaru and Jaken walked up to me; and then past me.

Hah ... what did I expect ... a ... thank you?

A pale hand then appeared in my vision. Looking up I met Sesshomaeu eyes. He was ... offering to help me up? ...

Taking his hand, I noticed that It felt rather colder than usual. Standing up, I then dropped back down on my knees, covering my mouth. My eyes grew wide at the realization that I had coughed something up. Extending my hand out, a red color stained it, making it seem almost bright in the dark night.

Looking to Sesshomaru, I stared in confusion at his expression. His eyes were wide. Not ever had I seen that on his face before.

I guess ... he's as shocked as I am?

Looking back down at my hand, the blood started to look blurry.

My eyes and body grew heavy and numb as I lost consciousness.

- THIRD PERSON POV -

Offering to help the priestess up, Sesshomaru ignored the thoughts he held about caring for her. He nearly only needed her to unseal Tatsumori from the pentagram talisman. That was all ...

As the priestess stood up, she then turned pale falling down to her knees again, covering her mouth.

Coughing, she then extended her hand out to reveal the blood that covered it. Looking at Sesshomaru, her eyes widened in worry - and then confusion.

Sesshomaru himself was shocked. He was concerned. Genuinely. And he knew it. Unable to curse at the trivial feelings, the priestess's eyes closed abruptly, causing her to fall forward. Kneeling down, he caught her. And this time - he didn't let her go.

Putting his arms under her legs and back, he stood up carrying her. Studying her features, he caught himself in a daze.

She was ... alluring.
