Chapter 6 | Feeling

- KYOKO POV -

My body felt heavy as I struggled to open my eyes. When I finally willed myself to open them all I could make out was complete darkness, but the sound of rain echoed in my ears.

Then, a little green face appeared in front of me close enough that I could feel his breath and cringe.

"You awake Priestess?" He asked with an annoyed tone.

Startled, I shoved him back grabbing my aching head as I sat up.

"Why you-!" Jaken said as he moved to hit me with the staff he carried.

"Jaken."

Stopping, Jaken slowly tuned back to meet Sesshomaru.

But Sesshomaru did not meet his gaze and rather stood outside the cave not looking back.

"But Milord !" He whined.

Pushing myself up off the ground, I noticed that we had taken shelter in a cave.

Taking step forward then, I found my body screaming at me to lay back down but I ignored it.

Taking another step forward only then did I realize that part of my Hakama Kimono had been taken off to reveal my upper body wrapped in bandages.

Freezing in my next move to go forward, I hurriedly went back to where I was laying and grabbed my Hakama wrapping it around my to conceal my bandages and chest.

Did ... Sesshomaru see me in such a state?

.... How embarrassing.

Trying not to think too hard about what Sesshomaru and his little demon saw, I moved over to the cave wall to support myself, holding my stomach area where the pain was the worst, as if that would somehow ease it.

"Foolish woman! You're going to bleed out!" Jaken said.

Ignoring his protests I stumbled to the opening of the cave. There laying near that entrance, my mino coat and straw hat lay on the ground.

Grabbing them, I hastily wrapped my coat around me, placing my straw hat on.

But before I could go in my way, I found myself glancing to my side where Sesshomaru was; leaning against the wall.

"... I don't know what your intentions are ... or what you motives are ... but ... thank you." I said as I stepped out of the cave.

Walking, the rain had turned into a clam sprinkle - but nevertheless - freezing still.

Feeling my heart beat against my chest at a rapid rate, I struggled to walk forward, the wound making walking a difficulty.

I don't why I said that to him.

Surely he ignored me but ...

Biting my lip then, I stopped breathing out.

"... Why did I say that to him?"

Why ... is my heart beating so fast?

The next morning I made my way to the west side of the mountain where I found the weather was the most beautiful during midday.

Sitting down on the empty field before me I watched the landscape trying to make out demons and sense their energy.

It was then that I found one. But after a moment I knew who it was.

Looking back, the wind once again blew taking his long silver hair with it, his fur obi flowing.

Meeting his eyes I looked back to the trees and the landscape trying to ignore his presence.

Hearing him come closer, soon Sesshomaru had brought  himself beside me but at a ways distance.

For a while we stayed like that once again, no words exchanged, no glances or movement; until I decided to speak.

" Sesshomaru ... I don't know why you saved me. If this is part of some kind of plan I want you to know I still have no intention of letting a demon have the sword. But - even knowing that ... why are you still here?"

Staying silent, I watched as Sesshomaru for a while to see if his lips would move themselves or if part of his body would twitch. It didn't not to my surprise.

With his usual silence I spoke again, thinking over my next words.

"I don't plan on dying easily I assure you ... however if you have decided to stay around I must let you know that in an occasion that I die ... I want you to remember me."

Looking back at him again, I froze seeing as he was no looking at me, his face an unreadable emotion to me.

"Nonsense." He said.

Walking now, Sesshomaru walked away from me as I watched.

There he goes ... going as he wants.

Frowning, I covered my mouth with a few fingers to cover it.

Why on earth ... did you save me Sesshomaru?
