Chapter 4 | Thought

23:21, 25 June 2024

- KYOKO POV -

It had been a couple hours since I arrived near the Cherry Blossom trees - and already the cold started to become too much for me to handle.

Getting up, pain from the wound on the side of my arm caused me to flinch. Holding where my wound was, I felt my eyebrows furrow.

I can't believe I got injured ...

As I started to walk away, I then came to a stop.

"What's your name?" I said turning back to the demon behind me. Staying still, he didn't turn to look at me - no answer coming from him as I waited for one. After a moment, I walked on turning my back to him.

Why did I think he would answer me back?

I ... shouldn't get too involved with demon.

Never again.

~- Two Years Ago -

"What's your name Priestess? " the green haired demon spat as he sat against the barrier. He wore a white Hakama with armor plates covering his chest and shoulders. His skin was a tan brown that accompanied a set of purple eyes. He has been bugging me for days.

Ignoring him, I resumed sewing up a sleeve on my Hakama Kimono.

"Aww , come on!, if you told me your name I could give your a proper burial." He said with a grin.

Blocking out his words from my ears, I continued working on my sleeve. I would never speak to him. He only wanted the sword. This is all just a game to him.

Sighing then he then erupted into a laughter that made me stop what I was doing to glance at him.

" You're a lot more quieter than I thought." He said standing.

"My names Tatsumori , remember it Priestess!"

~- Present Time -

Tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear, I continued walking towards the waterfall to cleanse myself. It was held on the west side of the mountain, near the bottom - so it was not a long ways ahead.

Arriving there, I carefully walked closer to the waterfall, using rocks as steps. Getting close, I then took the bucket I had brought with me and started to fill it with the water, pouring over my shoulder. Repeating this, after awhile I set down the bucket beside me.

As I listened to the waterfall, I sensed a familiar demonic aura. Reaching for my bow I quickly shot an arrow towards the trees and upon doing so - heard the familiar shriek of the little green demon. Coming out of the bushes, he started yelling at me. I had missed him on purpose yet he still wants to pick a fight. Brushing back the hair on top of my head, I sighed out loud. He shouldn't have been spying on me in the first place ...

Gathering my bucket and tying back my hair, I left leaving the still complaining shorty.

As I made my way towards the shrine, I looked around at the scenery before me. The sun has come out today, no longer hidden under the clouds. The light casted upon the trees made them look brighter than they were days ago. Suddenly, I bumped into something causing me to fall back and land on my bum. "Ow." I said.

Looking up, I then met eyes with him - the silent silver haired beauty. Annoyed, I picked myself up, brushing dirt of my Hakama. Leaning down I grabbed by bucket and bow - and walked past him.

As I was made my way further up the dirt trail, I looked up to see the little demon coming towards me - again - riding some sort of two headed horse demon. " Lord Sesshomaru!" He called out. Turning back, I observed the silver haired demon.

Sesshomaru ... so that is your name.

~

Making it back to the shrine, I stopped and stared ahead. I was gone for too long. Above the shrines barrier, many flying demons were banging themselves against it - trying to break it somehow.

Starting to run towards the shrine in a panic, I took out my bow and killed them all in one shot. Not a good idea. Pain instilled in my chest causing me to pant and fall to my knees. I still haven't recovered most of my spiritual energy - I had totally forgotten ...

The annoying voice behind me came again."Priestess! You will apologize to Lord Sesshomaru this instant!" Emerging from the bushes, the little green demon came up to my side. Watching as I maintained difficulty slowing down my breathing, he looked confused. Glancing to my side to see him, I looked away.

From what I have observed ... for some reason these two won't attack me, for now. Calming down I struggled to stand up as the little green demon watched me.

Walking a little ways I stopped, speaking. "Why don't you kill me?" I asked the shorty.

"My Lord Sesshomaru has ordered me not to kill you because you keep up the barrier to the shrine. "

Even more confused I questioned him."Doesn't he want the sword? "

"Don't you know anything?!" he spat," If the barrier goes down the sword will look for a host as soon as possible and my Lord Sesshomaru won't be able to claim it!" " the sword only chooses a new host after the previous one renounces it!"

I ... didn't know that. I only asked if they were going to kill me ...

Staying still in that moment, I drowned in my thoughts. So ... this Sesshomaru is waiting. Why? Either way ... I'm not going to let the barrier fall again.

Looking down on the little demon, I threw a tiny rock at his head causing him to fall over. Jaken was it? Well if that's the case, while you two are here, I won't let you two get past the barrier.

Glancing up at the setting sun, I furrowed my eyebrows. So ... are you waiting for me to die, Sesshomaru ?

After all ... you have all the time in the world.
