Chapter 30: True Ice

Akali's POV

Daiki was silent, Nao was excited, and Oka was sweating bullets about what my mother just said. Still feels weird to call her that really.

"She's.....she's the missing princess?"

Oka asked and gulped. Was I the one he was searching for after all? I shrugged. I didn't know. How could I, it wasn't even that long when I was spawned when that happened.

"To think I was some kind of nobility with a strong Kekkei Genkai.......I understand why am I this strong now."

"Ah.....I have questions.....how?"

I asked and tilted my head. She sighed and gestured me to sit, so I did.

"Tell us your love story Okaa-chan."

"I wouldn't call it that.....*sigh*. It started when me and Oka was still young. We're best friends even back then. We lived peacefully here. Or so we thought."

"I was still young when I met Kisame. We're childhood....."

"Sweethearts."

"Oka!"

"It's true. Why wouldn't he fall in love with you? You were the only one who didn't judge his appearance."

I nodded in understanding, the brothers beside me also in deep curiosity.

"We were in love. We grew up to your age and still, we loved each other deeply. During that time, the Yuki clan was being torn apart inside. There were conflicts between families and branches because of the power that the head Yuki family had. Only we could turn something in ice by touch."

"I'm the princess at that time, and I have been working hard for my duties and seeing Kisame for almost all of my life. But even I cannot stop the inevitable. Soon, a war inside the Yuki emerged. For the people who hated our clan, it was the perfect opportunity to bring us down."

"Which they did. It wasn't long before they started assassinating those who possess the Hyoton. They called it the bloodline purge, thinking that people in Kiri hated Kekkei Genkais but in truth, it was a massacre for the Yuki. They hunted us like wild animals and the others had no choice but to flee."

"Some seemed refuge in the land of snow. Many were killed, and some stood fighting in Kiri. I was one of them because I simply cannot leave my clan members to die here. And as a wielder of True Ice, I had to train to protect those I had left."

"The war lasted for years, me Kisame and Oka.....we grew up separated. Oka is a half Yuki and he helped me as my body guard, but I lost contact with Kisame. I saw him again of course, because the so called bloodline purge was coming to a stop. I was so happy to see him again so....we did things. I didn't know that was the last time I will be seeing him as an ally.......as my lover. He joined the Akatsuki just as the nine tails in Konoha became the talk of the town, and then..........I was pregnant."

"And cue the mc. Just kidding."

"Your grandparents were glad because someone will inherit the power of true ice. With Oka by my side, I took Daiki and Nao under my care. They are your cousins from the head branch, and they showed signs of wielding true ice every since birth so their parents gave them to us before fighting the last war."

"It saddens me to say that along with my parents, many Yukis are eliminated. We were nearly wiped out had not Kisame saved us. And then, with his help, I gave birth to you. The happiness I felt giving birth to you and seeing Kisame again left me letting my guard down."

"And when I was resting.....your own father took you away from me. I can't even do anything about it, and only god knows why he would do that. That was the first and the last time I ever saw you."

"She hated your father ever since then. And now that she knew that you were left in a forest in such a young age, it's going to be hard for her to ever forgive him."

Said Oka as my mother's eyes darkened at the mention of his name. It gave the whole room chills as the temperature suddenly dropped by a hundred degrees.

"Forgive me.....I sometimes loose control."

She sighed and suddenly, everything was back to normal. I shivered.

"Your mom is one hard-core woman."

"Good thing she doesn't have anger issues"

I sighed in relief as I practically melted under pressure.

"So please, don't disobey me when I say I don't want you near that damned man. I just don't want to be separated to you again."

Her icy glare melted into a soft look, her cold fingers caressing the gills underneath my eyes. I sighed and nodded. I mean, even if you flip this world out of axis, he is still my father here. It wouldn't be a surprise if he decided he wants no brat to hold him down.

"So......cousins huh?"

I asked and leaned my chin on my fists. Daiki shrugged and sipped tea while the big dog glomped at me and licked my cheeks.

"I'm guessing you can breathe on water too?"

"Hai. Only for 20 hours though."

I answered to her question as the room was yet again enveloped by awkward silence.

"I'm back! I shopped for a few things."

Said the voice that suddenly interrupted the awkward silence. It was unusually energetic and my mother looked thrilled to see who just came.

"Hello Rin. You're cooking again?"

"Mayuko-san can't cook and you are too graceful to hold a kitchen knife Asu-sama. I'll do it."

She smiled brightly that made my jaws drop to the ground.

"WHAT THE SHIMATA?"

"Language Aka-chan! There will be no cursing in my house as long as you live here. And that will be forever, understand?"

I was too shocked to care. IT'S RIN. RIN DUCKING NOHARA. SHE'S ALIVE. AND THERE ISN'T A HOLE IN HER HEART. I'M NOT SEEING A GHOST. WHAT THE HELL!?

Just like a fish out of water, my mouth opened and closed out of shock. I even pinched myself on the cheek and opened my eyes to see if I wasn't hallucinating.

"What's wrong honey? Do you know Rin-chan?"

I finally got serious and snapped out of my shocked state.

"Where did you find her Okaa-chan?"

"I.....saved her in a village near Udon no Kuni. Why do you ask?"

My eyes narrowed. Shit. With her in my side, I could just end the upcoming ninja war single-handedly! Better yet, it wouldn't even happen!

"I have to talk to Daiki and Nao alone. Pardon my rudeness."

I said and dragged the two outside.

"Hey Pollux, dome?"

"Sure thing."

I snapped my fingers and a clear dome encased us. The two looked at me with confusion as I paced inside back and forth, combing my hair with my fingers.

"What is it Akali?"

"Have you even watched Naruto? She's a big deal to the whole plot! Her death will start a future war, and now that my mother interfered, we have the upper hand! But sh*t, she's too good to be true!"

"Truth to be told, I only know some characters."

"I never watched Naruto! But I heared it somewhere soooooo....."

I facepalmed and plopped to the ground.

"Look. Do you guys know Obito?"

"Yeah. He's the main villain right?"

"One of the main villains. But yes. And Rin is the reason why he became a villain! If we could show him Rin, he could be our ally even before the war arc start. And she's absolutely an important character. If she falls into the wrong player's hands, then we're all doomed."

I sighed and cracked my knuckles. It was getting kinda stiff and I didn't stretch them since forever.

Somehow, my nerves calmed down with the sound of my fingers popping. I sighed again.

"Look, I know it's hard to understand but we have to protect her no matter what, or we'll loose our bets."

Daiki nodded solemnly while Nao still looks so confused. All three of us got back inside and was greeted with the adults talking. Ah...I'm still getting nervousness when I'm near Rin.

"You should probably give her the takoyaki. The one that you promised on the previous chapters?"

"Oh. Is it necessary? I mean I could...."

I thought and reached inside my inventory. I didn't search too far because I immediately had a hot one on sight so I scooped it up by the box and entered the kitchen. There, I saw Rin cooking something so aromatic so I looked at it.

I then looked at Rin who looked too busy to look at me in the eye, so I poked at her shoulder with my finger.

"You're a chibi."

When I got her attention, I presented her the box of takoyaki and ran back at the living room where the rest was.

"Cute."

"With that, my quest is done. Should I leave?"

I asked quietly and poked at Daiki. He shook his head no and let down the tea cup he held in his hand.

"Okaa-sama wouldn't like that. I guess this is your home now?"

"Really?"

"Was that even a question? Of course it is."

Asuga herself answered. It's a bit awkward to assume that as is, so I'm taking any confirmation I get.

"I hope they show me to my room. Or an empty field. I can't wait to test this true ice that she calls."

"Are you tired Akali? Come. I'll show you to your room."
