Akali's POV
It's been pretty great sailing, I'm not yet hungry, it was night time so I don't get sunburned, nothing or no one attacked me yet, and my boat is still in one whole so everything's perfectly fine! I'm currently reading the love story book that those travelers gave me in hopes of information, but so far, nothing. Gotta say that the plot is good tho.
I sighed and licked my thumb, scooting over to the other side of the boat for the moonlight to illuminate my book.
"I don't want to give you up Sayaka! You're all I have!"
The samurai cried. His love was on the verge of dying as he stood there and did nothing. Even if he wanted to do something, he couldn't. His love was diagnosed with brain cancer for a long time now, and the doctors always said that it was a miracle that she even got this far. The samurai tried so hard to find a cure, he searched the whole world, left no village unturned just to find the medicine that will one day make his love come back to him, stronger than before but his efforts are in vain.
The sound of Sayaka's breathing filled the room. Even though the girl was clearly tired, she managed to put on a weak smile on her lips, trying her best to tighten her weakening grip around the samurai's calloused hand.
"Tsuzuru? Didn't I t-tell you....don't cry for m-me.....I don't like you when you're sad....remember?"
Her breathing was labored, tears filling the side of her eyes as she struggled to stay awake. Even though she wanted to fight, she was fighting long enough. It was selfish of her, she thinks. She didn't want the samurai to be alone in this world that's been cruel to him....but she wanted to be freed.
"I'm......I'm sleepy Tsuzuroon. Will you let me sleep?"
The samurai gripped her hand tighter, removing his black mask and letting her caress his face one last time as his composure crumbled. The image of a cold and silent samurai being washed by the flood of emotions that spilled out of his eyes.
"I-i.....I don't want to loose you.....stay awake for me......stay awake Sayaka..."
He said in a quiet voice as the life slowly vanished from her eyes. But she toughened her resolve. She won't die unless she said a proper goodbye to the man she loves the most.
"Don't......worry. I'll come back for you Tsuzuroon. I-I'll wait for you......in the moon.."
Her sparkling violet eyes was lifeless as it slowly shut itself, but her smile never faltered. It was the same smile which he fell in love with. The same smile she had when they were together, bathing in the moon's rays. Her smile that will never leave his cold, broken heart.
Finally, the samurai sobbed. It was heared throughout the hospital as his wails of sadness echoed the white walls with fury and despair. His sadness pierced through the peoples hearts as he cried for his love, but he was happy for her. All those pills, those medications that the doctors gave her must've been painful for her. Finally she was free. He was finally ready to die, but he wouldn't give up easily. Not until it was the right time for him to face her again.
"Don't worry Sayaka. I'll be with you in the moon."
I shut the book close and put it back in my inventory with a sigh. Definitely a sad one, but somehow, I'm not sad or anywhere near the verge of tears. I think my emotions are broken. Or I'm just tough? I'd prefer the latter thank you.
Once my small break was over, I took out a cooked chicken meat from my inventory and took a leg and wing. I returned the rest of the chicken to my inventory and started munching on the limbs that I got. I threw the bones in the ocean and started to row once more. Did I mention that it was my second night sailing in this seemingly vast ocean? The sun was starting to show itself to me again as I continuously rowed my way.
I've actually passed the island that separated the land of noodles to my old home, but I can't see any shore, trees or anything nearby. Am I lost?
"Map"
I looked at the map with worry. It's been three days and I just crossed that island's border?(three days, two nights just so that no one misinterprets) That's bad......if this ocean is bigger than I think it is then my calculations would be completely incorrect. The worse possible case is that It might take me a whole month to reach the land of noodles, and though this game's mechanics can make the player resist sleep but not hunger.......even if I don't take breaks.....
I sighed and stopped rowing.
"Hey system. Can you calculate the time on how long before I get to the land of noodles?"
[Hai.]
[Answer:2 months and 15 days in boat.]
My eyes opened and my mouth was agape.
Two and a half months?! And in boat?! Then how long will it take for me—
Hey wait......
"Is the boat the reason why I'm moving so slow?"
[Hai. The said item is very low quality.]
"I....I see. What about when I swim?"
[Answer: 15 days]
My hand instinctively combed my hair. 15 days is still pretty long. Is it that far?
"What about when I run?"
I just remembered that I already practiced water walking. Though it maybe sloppy, I'll be able to get the hang of it soon. It was a totally big mistake to enlarge my chakra reserves before learning chakra control. The bigger the chakra, the harder it is to manipulate so it kinda took me forever to master it but hey, all my practices are fruitful.
[Answer: 15 days.If you combine both swimming and running, you get8 days.]
"Eight days? That's fine by me. The problem is, where can I stop to rest? I can't just exhaust my chakra.....I should save atleast half of my chakra in case of emergencies so maybe then I'll swim. Yeah. I'll just put those two in shuffle so that while I swim, I regenerate more chakra."
I stood up and jumped away from the boat, coating the soles of my feet before it touches the surface of the water and landing on it without a splash. Wahoo. I glared at the damn boat for the last time before running away. I wore the Manipulator's Cloak for extra DEX of course.
"Now! What's my pace system?"
[Answer:1 km/20 secKeep up your pace and you'll reach your destination in 3 minutes.]
"What? I thought I was supposed to be getting there in 15 days when I run? Now three minutes? Are your calculations wrong?"
[N-no! It's just that Miss Detective's speed increased by 4 times upon wearing the 'Manipulator's Cloak'......and your speed is no joke....]
"Oh ho? So what speed did you calculate?"
My voice was kinda high pitched and raspy so I winced when I heared my own voice. Dang I really need to get used to this.
[Normal human pace. In your case, a stroll.]
I looked at nothing in particular with a 'come-on' look. I guess system got the hint and showed me another set of their calculations.
[Seeing that Miss Detective's stamina is at the level of an average chunin, it will take her three hour tops to exhaust the half of her chakra reserves, by that time, you are still 80 kilometers away from the land of noodles. If Miss Detective immediately swims, she can hold for days, constantly raising her head to the surface. I recommend swimming for a whole day with your head underwater for you to get to atleast 40 kilometers nearer. By then, you can switch to running again.]
"How far is the land of noodles from my boat exactly?"
[Answer:159 kilometers. You are currently 96 kilometers farther.]
"Then if I travel 1 km per 20 seconds....that means....considering if I'll be slower because of fatigue......then I'll reach the 80 km in 2 minutes?"
[Hai. By that time, your chakra reserves will be chipped by one fourth, although the strain on your body will be higher, thus you'll need a lot of rest.]
"Heh. I can deal with that. I'd rather speed run it for two minutes rather than walk for straight 3 hours. Plus, I can recover easily so it'll be like what, 10 no let's say 30 minutes of rest? That'll save me much time!"
I said and ran faster, fueling my legs with adrenaline from who knows where.
[Currently on 90 km mark......89......88....]
The countdown was on the top right of my vision whilst the chakra bar was on my top left. It was slowly decreasing but I didn't mind. As long as I survive this and go to my destination, I'll be satisfied.
[You have hit the 80 km mark.]
I stopped to my tracks and removed the chakra on my feet, instantly splashing down the cold blue waters. Brr.
"Kahum! (That was a cough)"
I distributed my weight throughout my body and started swimming my way, though I didn't let my head sink in the water, only letting it touch my chin.
"La laaaaaaa! 1 2 3, 1 2 3 up in a tREe"
There was a sound of glass cracking.
[You have acquired a new skill!Singing: lvl 0 (-10%)Voice quality: fucking hideous A skill that can stun or hypnotize your enemies and allies alike, exceptionally important for stealth missions like transforming into someone. The screen was shaking and the middle of the tab has a really big crack, but nonetheless it delivered it's message.
"Wow. Thanks for the emphasis."
I said and rolled my eyes. From what I remember, also my gut feelings, I knew that I was no good in this.......department.
I've never been good in Music, Arts and PE. I'm not the artistic kinda type, but I remember really trying hard practicing piano. It was no good I tell you. My mentor even had a fit saying that:
"No matter how intelligent you are, if you can't even guess a simple note, you will never be a good pianist!"
Welp. Not like I'm sad or anything, just....disappointed. It's kinda cool back then if you can play like Beethoven or Chopin but hey, it's not just ment for me. Instead, I focused on my academic abilities and I did succeed. Some...things are just not ment to be just like how Music and Me.
Then I heared the sound of robotic sobbing.
"What the hell are you crying for?"
[Nothing! It's none of your business....]
I chuckled.
"How many minutes to I need to recover again?"
[About 3-5 minutes]
"Then I'll just do random stuff to level up that skill to pass time. There's no harm in that, right?"
[Hai.]
I cleared my throat and started just humming and doing z's. You know, like imitating bees? Ooh that rhymes. Then after my throat and my cheeks feel a little bit loose, I started singing kiddie songs.
"Twinkle twinkle liTTle star, how I wonder wHat you are~"
[Damn it's like those creepy background music when a killer clown chases children. Brr.]
I rolled my eyes and rested for a bit, letting the water consume me from my feet up to my chin. Then I started floating, still moving my arms and feet as I swam my way towards my destination.
"Can beauty come out of aaaashheees?"
PING!

"What the f*ck?"
[Game master also decided to censor your......colorful language.]
"Did the censorship have to be a sound of a squeaky toy? And what the h*ll is with that? I didn't even have that skill for five minutes and I'm already at level ten?! How?!"
I'm not really angry, in fact, I'm confused on how that worked. Is something with swimming affects singing?
[Hai. Singing with only your head above water is a way on practicing breathing, a special aspect of singing. This technique is also used by the Asia's Song Bird, Regine Velasquez to achieve her whole, and powerful voice.]
"Regine.....Velasquez? Never heared of her, but okay."
Now that that's finished, I'm gonna try this skill again HWHAHAHHAH
"I'm trying to hold...my breath.
Let it stay this way.....can't let this moment end.
You set off a dream.....in me.
Getting louder now...can you hear it echoing?
Take my hand. Will you share this with me?
'Cause darling without you.......
All the shine of a thousand spotlights,
All the stars that we'll steal from the night sky, will never be enough.

Never be enough.........for me!
NeVEr nEvEr
[You can't sing that high yet! Your just an amateur for God's sake and you think you're already Celine Dion?!]
"Okay okay chill!!!"
I chuckled and looked at my chakra bar. It wasn't full yet so I continued swimming.
My voice actually can handle it. I mean, the first parts of that song was low so I can reach it just fine, and the bridge part wasn't that high either. It's just that the chorus was so high and yeah, I can't reach it. Maybe if I get to max level, then I'll finally be the Beyoncé or Celine Dion of this world? Imagine that! GYAHAHHAHAA!! That'll be a really cool title! Now I know what to do in my free time.
"Now to walk like Jesus."
I said with amusement in my voice as I dove deeper into the water for momentum before jumping up and coating the soles of my feet with chakra as I landed at the water's surface yet again.
[Speaking of walking like Jesus, I think your Noah's Arc is right over there]
"What do you mean Noah's........"
"Arc. F*ck."
My face paled at the sight of a big ass pirate ship after I turned around. I almost immediately lost focus and removed the chakra beneath my feet, causing me to fall to the water with a really loud splash. I'm so f*cking sure that the sound caught the pirate's attention so I quickly dove deeper into the water and swam away from them as fast as I can, hearing the captain's loud roar that I even heared it clearly under water.
"Grrrarrrrr!"
"Cap'n said fire squak!"
I yelped as a cannon ball just flew past me, swimming deeper frantically for them to loose sight of me. D*mn do I feel like a fish.
I focused and raised my guard, being careful onto where am I putting my hands. It would be bad if one of my arms gets blown up now wouldn't it?
[You have hit the 50 km mark. Would you like to rest?]
I groaned, I swam in panic that I didn't even knew where I was going. Good thing that I haven't lost track.
I grabbed the cloth over my eyes and stuffed it in my inventory, carefully opening my eyes to get used to seeing underwater. Once my sight was fully focused, I started swimming again. Even though my body was so sore and my muscles are screaming bloody murder, I endured it. I need to get to the 20 km mark first before raising my head out if the water. I don't want to risk my head blowing up after I resurface after all.
Is what I thought so I stayed underwater and admired it's beauty. Though quite dark, the water was crystal blue and it highlighted the beautiful multiple colored coral reefs that medium and small sized fishes was living. I smiled. Does this world has surfing? If so, I'll immediately go to a resort that has. Wait....does this world even knows a resort? Mah, doesn't matter. Survival first, then surfing.
"I don't even remember being that active in my past life.....I remember that they call me counter detective. As long as all the evidence was presented at me without a thing in the wrong place, I can solve a case, even if I'm on my pj's."
[Memory fragment acquired! (2/34)]
"If I complete that 34, will I have a reward?"
[It depends. That will be the minimum reward, the maximum being "Awakening".]
"A.....Awakening? That sounds powerfully bad. What is it?"
[A moment where you'll choose. Though I am forbidden to get into specifics, "Awakening" will give you a choice. One that even the game master doesn't know.]
I narrowed my eyes and looked at my stamina bar. So far, it's only been an hour so I still have so much time and I've already reached 43 km. Good pace. I'll rest underwater as soon as I get on 40 km. Surely, those pirates aren't willing to wait a whole day for me to come out, right?
I sighed, making bubbles escape the lines underneath my eyes.
Speaking of those, I think I'll still be needing that anbu eye mask. It doesn't take a genius to figure out my resemblance, or atleast these line's resemblance to Kisame's own, and I'm sure the other's might be suspicious. Specially Akatsuki. Specifically Kisame.
"If it's true.....if my crazy delusions are correct, then he'll want to meet me at some point. I mean, I'll want to meet him too. I want some information from my past, who my parents were in this world, and if I have some inheritance or something. I just don't want to be killed on the spot. Maybe if I'm level 100, then I'll be willing to face him head on, without fearing death of course."
"But how long will that take me? 10 no 20 years? And the only chance will I have is after chunin exams in Konoha, when Naruto and Jiraya is in search of Tsunade. That's the most safest and earliest time, since Jiraya is there......looks like I won't be able to rest until I get to my 14th birthday huh....."
Five years from now, I'll have to get stronger. Faster. Tougher. I need to survive, and I can't do that if I'm a measly clown fish in the vast sea. I'll have to be a shark to be able to survive in this chain of killings and injustice.
"Does that mean I'll have to earn Jiraya's trust? Damn....that's gonna be hard. In order to increase his REP, I'll have to be loyal to Konoha, and become friends with Naruto just to be sure......I could use Sasuke as an excuse for him to protect me, anything to convince him to fight off Kisame if he tries anything. F*ck. He wouldn't think of hurting a child, right?............right?"
[You have reached the 20 km mark. Would you like to rest?]
Smiling at the system for being so caring,(it's probably programmed but whatever) I nodded and swipped away the tab. I swam to the surface and took a big inhale of oxygen as soon as my head poked out of the water. Some of my hair was sticking to my back, and some was going wild whilst still in the water. My skin felt like burning and became reddish but hey, it's a good tan. I was too pale anyway. Plus, I really like those girls with white hair and brown skin. They look so sexy and rugged.
[GAE ALERT!GAE ALERT!GAE ALERT!]
I rolled my eyes and jumped out of the water, lacing the soles of my feet with chakra and started running towards the shore that was nearing every second. Finally! I miss the land! I going to my first village too!
"Ah how exhilarating."
I smirked, finally setting foot on the burning sand and it was hot I tell ya, but it was so worth it! This isn't a mirage right? Is it even possible to have ocean mirages? Ah whatever.
Gamer's Mind calmed me down and started thinking logically again. Some of the very few people that was passing by was looking at me weirdly......ah, I probably need to change clothes. I'm still wet and I probably look like a beggar.....I need to be discreet.
I concealed my chakra that instantly triggered stealth, running around the sea side to find a clothing shop or something.
"Huh....no shops. Ah wait, there it is!"
It wasn't exactly a shop, it was a house with some clothes left to dry outside. Seems like the people inside were completely clueless so I did what my instincts told me and stole a few, I left a few yen on the ground just so that it wasn't completely stealing. Now that would make me a hypocrite now wouldn't it?
I quickly left the house and hid behind some bushes, quickly changing my old and tattered clothes into new-ish ones. All I got was a simple grey shirt and black baggy track pants. The shirt was a little big but I didn't have any complaints, hey, beggars can't be choosers, and in my case I even stole these. Agh my sense of justice is shaking furiously.
I closed my eyes again and opened my inventory where I fished out the white cloth, wrapping it securely around my eyes to hide the lines under it. No one must know. Yet.

[Accept quest?
Yes/No]
"I don't see why not?"
I said to myself as I pressed yes, making the tab disappear in yet another series of pixels. My blind folded eyes immediately met the bustling streets of the land of noodles, ah yes people. I was born an introvert, but somehow this is really comforting. The wind blew past my hair and I tell you, it blew on the wrong place that made my hair fly like they had their own life everywhere! It's so long that it sprawled on the ground below my feet. Oh yeah, I forgot I haven't had a haircut since I was born.
With a sigh, I bought hair ties at the nearest store that sells them and tied my hair into two low ponytails. It seems like anime hair logic was doing it's thing as some of my hair was magically defying gravity, some too thin to be real and what's worse, I have an *ahoge!
(AN: To those who doesn't know, ahoges are those spikes that don't fall down on anime hair's whatever that person does- you know what here, I'll show you what she looks like.)
(Photo not mine!)
Some of my hair was still too short to be caught in the hair tie so it was sticking out like some kind of spikes. I sighed. It's okay....I guess?
The woman at the counter smiled and bowed, thanking me for buying at their store. Her name was Tsuki Futaba, level 10 with her stats no higher than 20, although her negotiating skills were a different story. Dang she's a business woman alright. Her title says "Normal Clerk" but look at how many she fooled to buy things at her store even though they didn't need the items! Dang. Should I watch out?
"Are you new Miss? I know a new face when I see one~"
I nodded and left the store silently. First step on avoiding being manipulated, you should lessen any contact, physical or not. That's the first they could get to you, I should know. I'm a manipulator myself. I know my kind.
I was too immersed in my thoughts when I bumped into someone, but didn't fall down as I had strong balance. I could say the same to the one whom I bumped on to though. It felt like I was crashing on a rock.
"Ah sorry sorry! I wasn't looking.......?"
The person, or should I say, the girl that I bumped on trailed as she stared at something above my head......she has beautiful red hair, bright green eyes and rosy pink lips. Though I refused to believe she was my age, I can't help but say a silent "beautiful".
(AN: Imagine that bootiful gal but younger and has a fishnet and a black shirt instead of well.....that. Other than that, all is the same. Again, not mine.)
But what caught my attention was her title. Out of all the people I have encountered, all of them either had "Civilian" or their occupation, however she's different.....her title was something similar to mine.
"Miss Fortune....."
"Miss Detective?"
Her bright green eyes looked like it shined even more as she looked as if she was in realization.
"You can read my title? Does that mean......you're a gamer....like me!?"
