Morning
20:17, 12 August 2021The sun gleamed in the room, the curtains wide open. Her eye's opened slightly. Turning over slightly to see him. His bare chest and arms wrapped around her waist, as his head buried into her neck. It was peaceful. Not a sound, not a snore, not one movement. All was perfect.
"Good morning" she smiled.
She slowly removed his arms from her waist, then she stood, glaring out of the window. Not a cloud in sight, a small sigh escaped from her mouth. The summer was all she had dreamed of, constant vacations, the party's in the garden as her sisters attended. It was a perfect goodbye.
.-.-.-.
August.
August was the month, the last month she'd be a maid at the mansion. It hadn't felt real until the moment she began to pack her bags.
"And I think that's all" she began.
I can't believe your leaving, for New England of all places." Madison added
"I know it still feels like a dream."
"Have you talked to him about it?" Madison asked.
"I think we've both been subtly ignoring it all, ignoring that this won't be the end of us."
"Long-distance is a thing," Madison assured.
"Not for us, not for me."
"Try telling him that." She finished zipping up the suitcase.
"I have, I've tried."
"Look, think this all over before you make a mistake. I gotta head home." She began at the door.
"Thanks."
"Bye, text me when you get there." Madison closed the door.
She stood unsure when a knock came at the door.
"Come in." Her voice echoed.
Yuma emerged from the door, with an odd expression.
"Hey" She smiled.
"Yeah, hey."
"Is something wrong," she asked wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Not for us, not for me?." He stood.
"You were listening?" She removed her arms.
"Was I not supposed to?"
"Look, this summer was all I could've asked for. But all good things come to an end."
"Not for us, not for me." He spoke sincerely.
"I'm going to be several countries away, how would this work?" She asked.
"I love you, Malia." He spoke wrapping his arms around her waist.
"I love you too."
"Please don't end this, we'll figure out a way." He spoke meeting her olive eyes sincerely.
"Okay." She smiled placing a small kiss on his lips.
She finally finished packing, Yuma carried her luggage to the hearse. They all rid to the airport, for a goodbye.Once she stood in front of the gate, she stopped to see them all.
"Bye Ruki." She smiled holding her hand forward.
"Was a pleasure." He added.
"What about me Malia?" Kou asked.
"Yes Kou, I'll also miss you." She gave wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Bye Azusa." She smiled patting him on the head.
"b- y- e" he added.
She stood in front of Yuma, her eyes began to tear up.
"I love you so much." She smiled wrapping her arms around him as he did her.
"Flight to Boston." A voice called over the entire airport.
"Bye..." She began to walk.
"Think she'll turn around?" Kou asked.
"No way, she hates cliches." Yuma laughed.
She stopped for a moment before continuing to walk.Yuma looked back at Ruki.
"Yeah, yeah, I know." Ruki rolled his eyes.
-.-.-.-.
It had been almost twenty-four hours since she arrived in Boston, she expected it to be a euphoric experience but she felt down. Leaving all that had meaning to her for school.
Suddenly the sound of pebbles at the window, she ran to the window to see nothing. She ran out of the dorm buildings dorm to see a black vintage car and someone standing on the opposite side. Suddenly the man turned around to make eye contact.
"Yuma?" She asked running.
"Hey" he smiled as they hugged.
"How are you here?"
"Karl pulled some strings. Meet your new classmate." He laughed.
"You got into Harvard?"
"Sure, you could say that." He laughed.
"I'm so glad you're here..."
"Me too." He placed a kiss on her lips.
-.-.-.-.
