Chapter 6

00:15, 2 August 2025

Todays the day, I groan. I'm not as excited as I thought I'd be to be meeting new people. It should be fun right? Bonnie's sweet I guess, her friends will more or less be the same.

I finished my lesson almost fifteen minutes ago, and I'm currently walking to the address Bonnie sent on my phone. It's funny how I started off with no contacts and now I'm left with 2. Stefan and Bonnie. I wonder if they know each other.

I finally arrive at the place, and I'm in awe at the structure and look of the house. It's almost antique but still beautiful, and big. As I begin walking towards it, I begin to notice the features as I come up close to them. The house looks timeless, almost as if it's seen generations rise and fall and amidst it all, still stands. It looks like a museum, no a castle, with an old money kinda vibe going with almighty ancestors or something?

As I walk towards the door, I feel a pair of eyes on me. I turn around only to be met by piercing blue eyes sending daggers into my soul. The man leans against a blue car, dark clothes, dark eyes and I'm getting a dark aura from him.

He cleans the dirt from his hands onto a brown cloth and comes towards me, "Who are YOU." He says in a almost challenging but cocky tone? "None of your business is who." I say, rolling my eyes and going to knock on the door. He comes closer to me, "You smell like trouble."

I give him a dirty and knock on the door but he grabs my hand somehow pushes me against a brown pillar lifting the house up. "The fuck is wrong with you," I say as I struggle to get him off me. He backs off a bit, eyes still on me. He smirks at me and the next thing I know, the door opens and Bonnie comes to greet me.

I look behind me only to see the miserable tried to flirt with me man in black has disappeared? "Y/N?" Bonnie asks. I snap my head back round and focus on her, "Uh Bonnie, hey." I say as she welcomes me in. As we walk into the main room, I can't help but ask her, "Bonnie is this YOUR house?" She laughs.

"I'm glad it's not, but one of my friends live here." She explains. "And speaking of friends, where are they?" We look around only to be met by two girls, a brunette with long hair and the other is just, well, blonde.

"Omg hey," The brunette says. I smile at her. "I'm Elena,"

"And I'm Caroline!" The blonde interrupts.

I smile at both of them, "I'm Y/N, you guys are Bonnie's friends?" Caroline nods her head, "You look familiar." I pause for a moment. She was the girl that said my jacket, which was actually Stefan's was cute. "You told me I had a cute jacket." I remind her. She giggles and we all go to sit down.

In the process, Elena brings food from the kitchen, snacks like Doritos, M&Ms and other sweets. "You guys don't have anything British?" I ask jokingly. "Oh my God. That makes so much sense, you're not from here." Caroline says, hitting the nail on the head. "Bang on mate, I wanted to save it for the bit where we all got to know each other but hey ho!" I joke.

Caroline laughs, "It explains the accent. You do sound kinda American though." I look at her, giving her a questioning look but brushing it off when Elena starts talking about how she knows Bonnie and Caroline. They're actually really nice, I don't know why I expected them to be so evil.

"Drinks anyone?" someone says, and I as face to look at who it is, I think my smile fades. "Hi Y/N" He teases and waves at me. Oh I know this bitch aint being fr. I get up and walk towards him, "You."  I say sternly, maintaining eye contact the whole time. He looks around, "Yes, I'm me." He says, thinking he's funny. "Wanna explain what happened out there?" I  point to the doors. He hushes me immediately, looking behind me to see if the girls were listening. He bends down a little to my level, his demeanour changing and the energy around us shifting. He looks me in the eyes, "Nothing happened out there, you saw a glimpse of me cleaning my car, and then came into the house. This is the first time we're meeting."

He leans back and does that devious smirk. I stare at him, we're practically in a staring contest. What did he just do? Did he try control me or something? Because whatever it was, it clearly didn't work.

"DAMON!" Caroline yells. Did you really just compel her?" She says in her high pitched voice, looking over at him then to me. "Relax it's fine, we're best buds, right Y/N?" He says confidently. Caroline looks at me, expecting an answer. "Best friends." I say blandly. Caroline makes a face at Damon, and walks away. Before Damon leaves I grab him by his hand, "Want to be friends with me that badly?" I laugh. "Better try again. And next time, make sure it works." I say, grinning. I had all the power now. Whatever he tried doing, didn't work, and the look on his face is priceless.

He looks defeated and before he can say anything, someone taps my shoulder. "Y/N?" Stefan asks, "You're here?" I smile at him, "Stefan, hi?" I say confusedly. "What are you doing here?"  He questions. I hit back with, "Why don't you tell me?"

He explains that he lives here, that he shares the house with his idiot brother Damon. "Is that so." I smirk at Damon, making sure Stefan can't see the face I've pulled. I figured out from this moment on, me and Damon weren't going to get on well.

Stefan leads me back to the sofa.

Hours go by and I spend time with Elena, Caroline, Bonnie and Stefan. They're fun to be around and honestly I feel like they get me. Of course they had their inside jokes, and it wasn't hard to figure out what they meant.

Later on in the evening

"Guys have you got any orange juice?" I ask, not to anyone in particular. "Check the kitchen." Stefan instructs. I thank him and get up, in hopes to find a drink. I check out the kitchen, it has a vintage, aesthetic look to it. It feels comfortable, cosy even. I walk over to the fridge and search for some orange juice. There's a peculiar white kind of container that's covered, the smell is awfully familiar. Blood?

I lift it up a little and see handfuls of blood, in these little blood bag kinda things. My heart drops a little but I keep my chill. I close the lid and find some apple juice above it, not exactly orange but it'll do.

As I grab a glass and place it on the counter, the fridge door slams shut and of course, Damon fucking Salvatore is behind me. "Isn't this getting old?" I sigh. He looks serious, "Parents teach you not to snoop?" I laugh, "I don't have parents. Now move bitch." I spit at him.

His face shows he's clearly taken some offence to what I said. He pushes me harder against the counter. "Hey I just told you my parents are dead, be nice." I taunt. It hurts but I show no pain. "You have about five seconds to tell me what you are before I quit playing nice." He says, his tone dark, his eyes glaring. "Well then, 1,2,3,4,5." I count down the numbers, finding all of this hilarious. He doesn't fucking intimidate me.

"Oh no, what now?" I remark.

"Pulling the 'I'm going to act all tough but deep down I'm shitting my pants' won't work on me. I don't buy it Miss wannabe feisty." He  says jokingly, but there's definitely edge to it. "First of all let me correct you, you said tell you WHAT Iam, not WHO Iam, and second of all you said you're gonna quit playing nice. Do I get to see that?" I tease. He scoffs, "Cute, now answer the question."

I shake my head, I refuse to tell the son of a bitch.

"Okay let's try this again. What are you and what are you doing here." He says, a hint of annoyance to his tone. I roll my eyes, "I'm Y/N, which we already established and I'm here because I was invited by my friends." I pause, "Does that answer your question Dames?"

"Leave the nicknames to me." He says, pulling a face. "You're not the only one that can do that." I answer back to him. "Are you deaf? Or just slow?" He says, "Ask yourself that." I answer.

I can tell he's getting annoyed. "Why couldn't I compel you? What are you?" He asks me. I sigh, twice. For effect. "Keep you're freak shit between yourselves. Don't involve me." I say as I try to push him away. He runs his hand through his hair, looking away then directly back at me, "You're really pushing your luck right now, do I look like someone who enjoys repeating himself?" He asserts. "Yeah actually, you do considering you've repeated yourself more than once now. Maybe twice?" I giggle.

It's like the rage has has englufed him and he grabs me by my neck. I reach for the glass which is near me and push it off the counter with my finger. It smashes. Damon looks at the floor then at me, "I will kill you." He smiles.

"Damon get off her." Stefan snaps. Before he can walk over, I look Damon dead in the eyes and whisper, loud enough for him to hear but not Stefan, "Looks like I'm the one in control now."

Stefan holds me by my waist and asks me if I'm okay. I nod. "I was wondering why you were taking a while and then I heard the glass break. Did Damon say anything to you?" Stefan asks as we leave the kitchen.

I mumble "I hold all the cards here." And turn around to look at Damon. I know he heard the whisper. I smirk as a look of confusion fills his face. A bit of shock too. I hate overly confident people, excluding me of course.

"What was that?" Stefan asked. "Oh, nothing. I was just getting a drink and Damon asked me why I was snooping, as if I didn't just pull out a carton of apple juice." I joke. Stefan tells me to ignore him, and he's just 'like that'.  He may be 'like that' but I will NOT be forgetting anytime soon. Damon has it out for me, and this isn't going to end well.
