Chapter 13

03:43, 13 September 2016

"Secret files?" Aang asks, clearly confused.

The general then pulls out a scroll before reading "Toph Beifong.". He hands it to Toph who then hands it to Katara, who opens it.

"It's a letter from your mom. Your mom's here in the city. And she wants to see you." Katara explains as her eyes dart across the paper. These words cause Toph's eyes to widen in shock. I don't know much about Toph's past but I can tell things aren't good with her parents.

"Long Feng intercepted our letters from home? That's just sad." Toph sighs shaking her head. The King proceeds with another scroll before handing it to Aang.

"This scroll was attached to the horn of your bison when the Dai Li captured it." The General states before standing high and mighty. "It's from the Eastern Air Temple" Aang gasps before his eyes indulge the words.

"Is there anything for Sokka and I?' Katara asks, sadness covering her face.

The King looks into the box with a frown before saying "No." Sokka and Katara look distraught, clearly wanting something. "But there is an intelligence report that might interest you." The General smiled before handing Katara a scroll in which she almost ripped open to read.

"A small fleet of Water Tribe ships." Katara gaps, causing Sokka to look over her shoulder "It could be Dad!"

A smile forms on their faces as Katara reads on ""Protecting the mouth of Chameleon Bay. Led by Hakoda" The two look at each other before erupting.  "It is Dad!" Sokka yells before hugging his sister. A small smile forms onto my face as the two jump up and down.

"Mika" The General sighs, causing me to turn around. "This was found in Long Feng's desk" he explains before handing me yellowed scroll.

The group breaks from their reign of happiness as they look at me.

I slowly open the large scroll and read it silently.

Long Feng,

Mister and Mrs Lee have been disposed of.

The date for your lost daughters return shall be set along with her Dai Li and Earthbending training.

Dai Li

Stuck on the page was a paper that stated birth. It was mine and the father slot was filled with Long Feng. Such a large scroll for so little words. But these words hurt. Unlike the gang, this news was bad.

"Well? What does it say?" Katara asks, her voice soothing. I look up before putting a smile on my face "My parents were just telling me their vacation is going well."

Like father like daughter.

Toph's smirk disappears as she walks towards me as Aang goes on about his letter.

"You're lying, what did that letter really say?" she pushes, her ghostly eyes aimed at my face.

"Let's just say, the vacation is permanent" I sigh holding my head in my hands. Tophs face softens "I'm so sorry" she sighs before looking where the conversation is.

I wanted to cry, I wanted to rip apart the earth, I wanted to make Long Feng pay for what he has done. But I couldn't.

"What's a guru? Some kind of poisonous blow fish?" Sokka asks as I start listening to the words spoken.

"No, a spiritual expert. He wants to help me take the next step in the Avatar journey. He says he can teach me to control the Avatar State." Aang exclaims smiling. "And I can't believe we know where our dad is now." Katara sighs happily. "I know what you mean. My mom's in the city. And from her letter it sounds like she finally understands me." Toph smiles.

They all had great news, I couldn't possibly tell them and ruin what they all had found out. So I sat in silence and put on a fake smile. "This is all such big news! Where do we even start?" Sokka asks looking at all of us.

"I hate to say it, but we have to split up."  Katara frowns, causing Aang to almost shout. "Split up? We just found Appa and found Mika and  got the family back together! Now you want us to separate?" Aang gaps before stepping next to me.

"You have to meet this guru, Aang. If we're going to invade the Fire Nation, you need to be ready." Katara sighs looking at me to help her out. "She's right Aang" I explain "We can always come back together and reform our family, you need to focus on being the Avatar".

Aang looks at me and Katara before agreeing "Well, if I'm going to the Eastern Air Temple, Appa and I can drop you off at Chameleon Bay to see your dad." Aang smiles. "Someone has to stay here with the Earth King and help him plan for the invasion. I guess that's me." Sokka sighs as he stands.

"No, Sokka. I know how badly you wanna help Dad. You go to Chameleon Bay. I'll stay here with the king. " Katara smiles, causing Sokka to flip out. "You are the..nicest sister EVER!!" he yells overjoyed before hugging her.

"Easy there, big brother ... Though you're right. I am." Katara chuckles.

As Sokka pulls away, his eyes connect with mine "Where are you going to go Mika?" he asks. Before I can answer, Toph is next to me "She'll be coming with me, I'll call her my seeing eye rock".

All eyes shoot to Toph, beside sharing the same element, we never really talked or got to know each other.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Katara? I need to tell you something. I've been wanting to say it for a long time. " Aang blushes and how I wish I had some firenuts so I could watch this.

Katara rasies a brow in confusion "What is it, Aang?" "Well..you see I-" he starts but is put into a headlock by Sokka. "All right. Who's ready to get going on our little men-only man trip?" Sokka asks, causing Katara to glare at her brother.

As Sokka starts to climb Appa, a warrior comes out "Your Majesty. There are three female warriors to see you. They're from the island of Kyoshi." he explains to the King.

"Suki?!" Sokka exclaims falling off the animal. Who was Suki? By the sound of it, she was more than a friend.

"You know these warriors?" The King asks which Sokka responds in a duh tone "Oh yeah. The Kyoshi Warriors are a skilled group of fighters. Trustworthy too. They're good friends of ours." The King smiles "Then they shall be honored guests."

I watch as Katara kisses Aang's cheek, causing him to turn red, but my attention is turned elsewhere when someone calls my name.

"Yes Sokka?" I ask looking at him. "I'm going to miss you and your magic sand" He sighs pulling me into an embrace. I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him closer, inhaling his 'manly scent'. "You'll be surrounded by sand Sokka." I joke.

He looks at me, a serious expression on his face "But it won't be magic".

Before I can respond Toph lets out  a strangled noise "I'm going to miss you guys!" As our final movement as a group for awhile, we all go into a group hug.
