Chapter 30
22:52, 23 March 2013Rydel's POV
Emily and I shopped for what seemed like forever. We must've hit every single store there! We both decided to take a well deserved break and sat down on one of the benches. That's when I saw my chance.
"So, what is your plan with Alex?" I turned to her.
"What?" She asked.
"Oh, don't play dumb with me. You know what I'm talking about!" I nudged her shoulder.
"You're right, I do." She took a deep breath. "You have to promise not to tell anyone." She looked right into my eyes. She was serious.
"I promise." I replied.
"Ok, here it goes. I have the option of missing out on the rest of the tour and going to Boston for a charity event. I have to leave in three days if I agree to do it and I'll be gone for a week." She said.
We were both quiet for a minute and then a smile spread across my face.
"Emily that's amazing!" I exclaimed and gave her a huge hug. When I pulled back, she seemed confused.
"You're not upset?" She asked, seeming shocked.
"No! I mean, of course I'll miss you, but still! That would be amazing for you." I smiled, but she still didn't.
"I know." Emily sighed.
"Look, I know you aren't really popular on this tour because, trust me, I notice the hate you've been getting. It hurts all of us but if you go to this event it could really gain you some more fans. Besides, we can always find a new opening act." I encouraged her.
"You really think I should go?" She asked, starting to get excited.
"Yes, I think you should. I also think you should tell everyone tomorrow at the venue." I said.
"Ok, I will." She nodded and I hugged her.
Ross's POV
-that night-
"Ross I can't." Emily said.
"Emily, please don't leave me." I replied, scared I would lose her forever.
"Goodbye Ross." She slowly walked away, hair flowing in the wind.
She was mine...all mine...and now she's gone...gone...gone..
"Emily!" I exclaimed and I sat up right in bed. "It was only a dream." I comforted myself as I panted.
I leaned over to check my phone and saw there were no new messages. I knew it was late but I needed to text Emily. Just to make sure she was still mine.
To: Emily<3
Hello love, just wanted to tell you that I can't wait to see you tomorrow and I miss you <33 have a great sleep darling
I set my phone down and tried to go back to sleep. I kept waking myself up though because I felt like something was wrong. Like, something was going to happen and I wasn't going to be very happy with it. It's the worst feeling in the world.
Finally, I relaxed and went back to sleep.
When I woke up, I noticed a new text from Emily.
From: Emily<3
I miss you too love <3 i have some news today and i hope you wont be too upset by it..
What is that supposed to mean?
Now, I was panicking. This could mean anything.
I kept telling myself to not worry about it and to just find out when I get to the venue. That reminds me, I better go.
"Hi guys." Emily smiled at us when we all had a group huddle after rehearsals for that night. "So, I have something to tell you." She took a deep breath and told us everything.
When she finished, we were all quiet for a minute. Then, Rocky spoke.
"I think you should go." He looked at the ground as he said this.
"Yeah, I agree." Riker said. "I mean, of course we'll miss you like crazy, some of us more than others," He looked at me, "But it would be good for you." He smiled.
I didn't say anything. I couldn't bare to see Emily go. Of course, it would be great for her, but how was I supposed to be away from her for a whole week?
"What about you Ross?" She asked me with hopeful eyes.
"Well, I think I would miss you like crazy but I think it would be good for you." I gave her a small smile.
She smiled brightly and wrapped me in a tight hug. "Thank you." She whispered in my ear.
As we were all congratulating Emily on this amazing opportunity, Alex came into the room.
"Emily, can I talk to you?" He asked, not looking too happy.
"Um, sure." She said, seeming confused.
She followed him out of the room.
Emily's POV
I followed Alex and when we were out of earshot of the others, he turned to me and what he said was unbelievable.
"Ok, this could either be good news or bad news." He said.
"Ok." I said slowly.
"Remember that charity show and how I said it was only a week? Yeah, well, things changed. It turns out that it would be the start of your first ever six month tour." He smiled but when he saw my expression, that smile was quickly wiped off of his face.
"What?" I asked, completely stunned.
"Look, I know this is a lot to ask but the good news is that you won't have to do your acting gig anymore!" He exclaimed, trying to be optimistic.
"Alex, I don't know if I can do this." I said.
"I'll give you tonight to think about it but I need to know before midnight if you're up for it." He said and walked away.
I stood there, not knowing what to do.
I slowly walked over to the others and I couldn't smile. Not even pretend like I was happy. I knew I had to go but how could I be away from my best friends for so long?
"Hey Em, what's up?" Ross asked me with sad eyes.
"I would have to leave to six months." I looked at the ground.
"What?!" Rocky exclaimed.
"The charity week would only be a kick off start to my tour." I replied, still shocked.
Ross hugged me to his chest and I wanted to cry right there. I buried my head into his chest and held back tears.
"Are you going to go?" Rocky asked me.
"I don't know yet." I shrugged, not wanting to answer. "I have to decide by midnight."
"Well, whatever you decide to do, we'll support you." Rydel smiled at me.
"Thanks Rydel." I said.
The crowd started to line up at the doors. It was show time.
The show went great as usual. Except, there was a girl that I recognized. She was the same girl that was convinced that Ross would be hers and not mine. Great, now I had to deal with her all night.
At the signing after the show, I figured I would get the usual hate. This was far from the usual hate.
"Well, well, well, isn't it the girl who won't give up on Ross? Look, you seriously need to step aside and let me have him all to myself." She smirked.
"Who's going to make me?" I snapped back.
"You just made the worst mistake of your life." She said and walked away to get in line for R5's signing.
When the signing was over, I turned down a hallway to see Ross talking to the one fan I didn't want him to.
"So, I think we should totally hang out some time." She said, twirling her hair between her pointer finger and thumb.
"I think we should too." He smiled.
"So, here's my number. Call me." She winked at him.
"Alright." He smiled.
She hugged him tight and he hugged her back.
Then she walked past me and mouthed 'told you' to me.
When I looked back at Ross, he was watching her walk away and then looked at my horrified expression. He immediately stopped smiling and I guess he finally realized that he was actually taken.
My eyes started to well up with tears and I ran off. I heard Ross running after me but I didn't stop. I ran down a hallway and he finally caught up to me and reached for my hand.
"Emily, wait!" He exclaimed and pulled on my hand so I was facing him. I yanked it back but didn't turn to run again. There was no point.
"What? What could you possibly say?! You were clearly firting with that girl!" I yelled at him through tears.
"Emily, come on, it was no big deal." He said, not very convincingly.
"Oh really Ross? Really?! 'It was no big deal.' She was all over you! You were all over her!" I exclaimed.
"Emily, please." He reached for my hand but I moved it before he could.
"Is there a problem?" The girl came back and leaned up against Ross, wrapping her arms around his waist. "What's wrong Rossy?" She asked him, smirking at me.
"Yeah, what's wrong Rossy?" I snapped at him.
"Rebecca, not now." He said.
"Oh, so now you know her name and you have her number. How about we just decide the wedding already!" I screamed at him.
"Hey, I never said I was with her." Ross replied, starting to get angry.
"What?" Rebecca pouted.
"Really? Because it sure seems like it." I said.
"You can't just assume that! That's not fair to me!" Ross yelled.
"Not fair?! You want to talk about not being fair?! The thing that isn't fair is staring me right in my face!" I pointed to Rebecca.
"Look, Emily, there's nothing going on between us!" He exclaimed.
"How am I supposed to believe you?!" I exclaimed.
"Well..I..I just.." He trailed off, struggling for words.
"That's what I thought." I said. "You know what, maybe I should go to Boston!" I replied.
"Maybe you should if you can't trust me!" Ross said.
"Then I will!" I yelled back.
"Fine!"
"Fine!" I screamed.
"Come on Rossy, just dump her and go out with me." Rebecca wrapped her arms around Ross's neck and stood at his side.
"Yeah, maybe you should just be with her!" I exclaimed.
"Maybe I should!" He replied.
I turned to walk away, but then remembered something. "You know what the funny thing is Ross," I turned to him," is that I thought we really had something. I thought that you were actually falling for me and we would be together, but if you meet one fan and throw all of that away, I don't think I can handle this anymore." I said, crying hard now.
"But Emily-" He started.
"Don't." I stopped him. "Ross, I loved you. I freakin love you and I still freakin do!" I exclaimed. "There, I said it. I'm in love with you Ross, but clearly that wasn't enough for you."
I stormed away and ran into the van, crying my eyes out.
I got a text from Alex.
From: Alex
Did you make your decision?
To: Alex
I'm going to Boston.
