Chapter 21

02:24, 5 February 2013

Ryland's POV

We were all just hanging at the house, wondering what Alex wanted with Ross, when all of a sudden, the door opened and a loopy Ross walked in.

"Well someone looks happy." Rydel giggled.

"Yeah, someone is." Ross smiled.

"What happened?" She asked.

"Alex wanted to make up to Emily and I for the way he's been treating Rossily so he's asking us to sing a song together on tour. He thinks it will show the fans that our relationship won't be affected by anything." Ross said, the smile never leaving his face.

"So, what song are you singing?" I asked.

"A Thousand Years." He replied.

"Oh my gosh!" Rydel exclaimed.

"What?" I asked her.

"That's a super sweet song! You guys could totally have a moment on stage." She said to Ross.

"Um, ok." Ross said.

"I'm serious. That song is perfect for you guys." She nodded. "How was recording?"

"It was hilarious." Ross said. "We tried to sing the song at least twenty times before we finally got it  down because we kept laughing."

"Why were you laughing?" I asked him.

"Because we've never recorded together and whenever the other person messed up, we would start laughing and then had to start over again. It was great." Ross smiled brightly.

"Do you know who her official set crew is?" I asked.

"No, why?" He replied.

"Just wondering. Since I'll be working with them and I want to see how they operate." I shrugged.

"Oh, well you can probably ask her the next time we have rehearsals. Which is...?" Ross asked.

"Tomorrow afternoon." Riker replied.

"Awesome." Ross said, walking to his room.

"I'm actually really curious to see who her set crew is." Riker said.

"Why?" I asked.

"Well, you know, they might be pretty cool. Besides, what if one of them tries to hit on Emily? We need to keep Ross away otherwise he could cause some serious damage to the guy." Riker gave a small laugh.

"Good point." Rydel replied.

"So, what do you think of Emily, Ry?" Rocky asked me.

"She's pretty cool." I shrugged.

"That's it?" He questioned.

"What? Am I supposed to say something more?" How much did he want?

"Well, I don't know, probably something more than "pretty cool.""

"Ok, well, she's really pretty. She's talented. She knows what she's doing and what she has to do. I think her and Ross are good together." I said.

"That's a better answer." Rocky said.

"Good!" I exclaimed. "I'm going to call Emily and ask her who her set crew is. Maybe I know some of the guys." I said, starting to get up from the chair I was sitting in.

"Oh, I can do that for you." Rocky also started to get up from his chair.

"Um, ok. If you really want to." I shrugged, sitting back down.

"Cool." He said and dialed Emily's number.

That was strange.

Rocky's POV

So what if I can't be with Emily? That doesn't mean I can't talk to her and I was going to get every chance I could to do just that without Ross getting suspicious.

I dialed her number and waited for her to pick up.

-phone ringing-

"Hello?" She answered.

"Emily! Hey, its Rocky." I replied, trying not to smile too big.

"Oh, hey Rocky! What's up?" She asked.

"I was wondering who your set crew is?" I said.

"Really? I never would've thought you would ask me something like that." She gave a small laugh.

"Yeah, I know." I laughed. "Anyway, its not for me. Ryland was wondering because he wants to see if he knows any of them which would give him an idea of how they operate." I said plainly.

"Ahh, that makes more sense." She laughed. "Well, I really can't tell you much. I know five of the names out of the six I have." She said.

"Wow, you know a lot about them." I joked.

"Hey! I have a lot on my mind. Besides, that's most of them." She said.

"Yeah, I know. Anyway, what are their names? You know, the ones you do know." I teased her.

"Well, the ones I do know, which is a lot since I haven't even met them yet, are Brad, Casey, Austin, George, and Justin." She said.

"Last names?" I asked.

"I barely remember their first names." She laughed.

"Well, thanks for your help." I said sarcastically.

"Oh, you're totally welcome." She said, playing along.

"Remember rehearsals are tomorrow." I reminded her.

"Yep, I just got a text from Alex about ten minutes ago saying that we had that. I'll see you then." She said.

"See you then." I replied and hung up the phone.

"So, anything?" Ryland asked.

"She knows five of the six guys she has. Brad, Casey, Austin, George, and Justin." I told him.

"Mmh, none of those ring a bell. Oh well, I'll meet them tomorrow." He shrugged and walked away.

"Who were you talking to?" Ross walked into the room.

"Emily. Ryland wanted to know the names of her set crew." I said casually, even though I knew how that sounded.

"Why didn't he do it himself?" Ross asked.

"I offered." I shrugged.

"Why?" He asked, pushing the subject.

"I don't know. I haven't really talked to her all that much so I guess this was a good opportunity." I said quickly, wanting to drop it.

"Um, ok. You sure you don't like her?" He just came right out and asked it. Lovely.

"Um.." I trailed off.

"Rocky?" He urged.

"To be honest, I used to. Like, a lot. Don't worry about it though. I'm mostly over it." I started to get quieter as I said the last part.

"Mostly?" He asked. Apparently, I need to learn to talk softer.

"Yeah, mostly. Dude, you have nothing to worry about. I won't ever disobey the bro code and I won't ever go after Emily. Chill." I reassured him.

"Good, because I've fought to keep Emily too hard to let it all be thrown away for my own brother." He said.

"I know, and that's why I won't get in the way of you and her. I promise." I said.

"Ok, I believe you." Ross sighed.

"Good." I replied and walked to my room.

Oh boy.

Emily's POV

-the next day-

I met the guys at rehearsals the next day and I was totally pumped. For one thing, I was going to practice the song A Thousand Years with Ross in front of everyone, which meant we had to give an actual performance. Also, I was finally going to meet my set crew for the first time. Ever since last night, Rocky wouldn't let it go that I didn't know all of them.

"Well, its not my fault I haven't met them yet." I kept telling him.

"Maybe it is." He teased me and nudged my shoulder.

"Wow, thanks." I played along.

"Hey Emily! Your set crew is here!" Alex exclaimed, calling from the stage and pointed to the door.

"Sweet." I smiled and looked at the door.

All the guys piled out from the van with stuff in their hands.

First Brad, I'm assuming it was him, came out and then the others followed. Luckily, they had name tags on so I didn't have to guess who was who for the others.

"What's he doing here?" Ross asked, anger on his face.

I turned around to see the last guy from my set crew walk out.

Trevor.
