Friendship Over
00:30, 13 May 2015"Well I heard you are now a big shot." Maria yelled from behind the counter as I walked in the diner. The customers turned to look at me as I sat at the counter I severed at for years.
"Yea well I am truly grateful that someone as popular as you would meet with me." she said after I sat down
"Maria, is it really so odd that I am meeting with my best friend since high school even though I am now the owner of the Cabinet of Curiosities?" I asked
"Well no but..."
"Then can you please treat me like a normal human, and not some famous star." I whispered the next part, "It's bad enough that when I walked in here people looked disappointed and disgusted by me."
"So will it be coffee Alicia, or maybe a pop?" She asked
"Well how about a pop, and a bowl of ice cream?"
"Sounds good." She said going to the kitchen to retrieve it, as Paul and Penny walked in.
I heard one kid scream at the site of them and heard feet quickly leaving as they sat next to me.
"Sorry they act that way. Guess that's why when I worked barely anyone came in." I said looking at the two, even though they were tattooed and deformed they were beautiful, kind people, which most people didn't understand because they only saw the outside and ran. "It's ok darling, always been this way." Paul said as Maria reappeared
"Excuse me miss but can I please have a tea?" Penny asked as Maria placed my ice cream and pop before me.
"Sorry, I think we are out." She said, even though I could see the tea bags behind her.
I got up from my seat and walked behind the counter, Maria started to protest but I just glared at her, and proceeded to make Penny's tea. As I placed it before her I looked at Maria and hissed, "What has gotten into you?"
"They killed Dandy!" She screamed
"And your evidence. Or are you just saying that because they are different."
"You know as well as I that they never liked Dandy."
"Gee I wonder why?"
"You never liked him either, always saying he was off."
"And you only fucked him for the money!"
"At least I wasn't dating a freak."
That's when my hand collided with her face and I hissed, "Never call them freaks again." and signaled to Paul and Penny we were leaving.
"Aren't you going to pay for that?" She asked, clutching the side of her face, which was about as red as a tomato.
"Don't you remember what Elsa told us once, Stars never pay." I said walking out the door.
"Well that wasn't what I planned."
"Well Lissa, you are one of us now. Most people don't view us like you or Penny did, which is now why you both are viewed as you are. Even though you weren't made to be different like Penny the town knows where you stand." Paul replied as he started the truck.
As we drove back to the show I leaned my head against the window and slowly drifted off to sleep.
