Chapter 19: "TITANIUM!"

22:25, 13 May 2017

A/N: Hey guys, so I owe you all an apology. I'm sorry for not updating sooner. I was ill and then I kinda lost my mojo to write which was accompanied by writers block, fun right? Hopefully you'll enjoy the chapter.

-The Bella House-

Beca had stormed out about four hours ago. Chloe hadn't left her room. The other Bella's were sat in the living room. There was silence. Odd silence. Jessica yelped when the sound of the doorbell ringing cut through the solemn tension that drifted, like a lingering curse, around the house.

Denise got up and answered the door. All the Bella's were holding their breath; they were hoping it would be Beca. There hope was snuffed out like a candle when they saw it was Beca's dad.

"Hello, is Beca there? I need to speak with her." Her dad didn't even wait for a reply, he barged past Denise who stood in disgust before closing the door.

"She isn't here." Aubrey said, slight anger in her voice.

"Do you happen to know where she is? I checked her dorm but her roommate said she hadn't seen her." Dr Mitchell was just greeted with slow, sad shakes of eight heads.

"Have you tried ringing her?" Denise quipped, still slightly annoyed at his ignorance of barging in without so much as a hello.

"Yes, of course. She isn't answering my calls or my texts." He started to pace up and down the passageway, his anxiety and annoyance increasing with every step.

"You can hardly blame her." The eight girls and Beca's dad turned around and saw Chloe stood at the foot of the stairs. Her hair was in slight disarray and she had blotchy red skin, obvious signs that she had been crying.

"Excuse me?" Dr Mitchell took a step towards the ginger.

"Well, I mean after what you did-" Chloe didn't know where the sudden shot of fire that she was spouting out was coming from, but she needed to get this out.

"Chloe..." Aubrey began before she was stopped in her tracks by the serious glare her ginger best friend was sending in her direction. Aubrey help her hands up to her lips and looked away, allowing Chloe to continue.

"How could you do that to her? The Bella's were important to Beca, even if she didn't admit it. I knew they were. She loves this group more than she would ever say. You're trying to take that away from her. You should be ashamed of yourself, Beca was finally starting to open up to people. She was opening up to me. She hasn't done that since she was younger, since you left. So no, I'm not surprised she isn't answering you right now Mr Mitchell." Chloe's chest was rising quickly, her anger at its peak. She felt like she could spit fire, like her hair was on fire. Chloe didn't move, she just stared at Beca's dad. She was waiting for him to yell at her, to scream at her about how she dared to speak to him like that. He didn't.

"Aca-awkward..." Fat Amy chimed in.

"Will you just try her, please?" The please was desperate and apologetic. As much as Beca's dad didn't want to admit it he knew Beca's friend was right. He had been harsh but Beca needed to learn, this wasn't a jolly holiday she was on. This was her life. He was just trying to help her.

Chloe took her phone out of her pocket and scrolled till she located Beca's name and clicked the dial button. The phone rang for 30 seconds before the infamous message of the woman on the other end saying the person couldn't come to the phone right now. "That's odd. Beca always picks up." Then Chloe realised that she probably didn't want to talk to Chloe right now, especially after how they left it. "Fat Amy you try her."

After five minutes, eight different calls and the same dead tone the panic and anxiety that had started in her father was now in the room and shooting through all nine women.

"Is she okay?" Stacie asked, looking at her phone and the non-answered phone log of Beca's name.

"Yes, I mean we know Beca. She probably just needs some space." Aubrey's dominant voice rang through, trying to not only settle her own mind but calm everyone else's.

"No doubt she's got her headphones in or something, so she hasn't heard or seen her phone." Ashley tried to be the voice of reason within the chaos that was slowly starting to form within the house.

"I want to go looking for her, just to make sure. I mean if she isn't at her dorm, or with us where else would she be? Please Bree." Chloe pleaded with her older best friend.

As much as Aubrey wanted to say no, as she knew Beca was fine, she agreed and the Bella's put on coats and shoes and were out the house. Beca's dad slowly in tow behind.

"I think it'd be better if we searched in groups, therefore getting a wider area searched in a quicker amount of time." Cynthia-Rose suggested. The girls nodded and soon were split. The teams were as followed:

Aubrey and Chloe,

Fat Amy and Cynthia-Rose,

Jessica and Ashley,

Lily, Denise and Stacie,

Beca's dad was by himself.

"If you find anything then we ring each other. We will spend about an hour looking and if we can't find anything we meet back at the house Bella's. Okay? Good, let's go. Come on Chlo, it's going to be fine." Aubrey walked off with Chloe, the blonde linking arms with the ginger offering whatever comfort she could to her worried best friend.

- Around campus-

It had been about forty-five minutes since the girls had split and started their search for the little alt girl. The darkness was slowly making it harder for the parties to see anything never mind trying to discover a small girl who usually liked to dress in black. Chloe and Aubrey had checked around the ice cream place, Jessica and Ashley checked the abandoned swimming pool where the Riff Off had taken place, Lily, Denise and Stacie had checked the library and other places inside the Barden building. Cynthia-Rose and Fat Amy had decided to check places between the Bella house and Beca's dorm room.

"This much exercise should be illegal." Fat Amy puffed out as the girls had been walking non-stop for forty-five minutes.

"Come on Amy, it's nearly been an hour and so far, no one has seen her. Why don't you try ringing her again? We can take a rest on these benches." The two girls sat down on a bench on the side of the path and Amy flickered her phone into life dialling the small brunette's number.

Again, it rang for 30 seconds before the familiar tune of the woman greeted them. "Wait, do you hear that?" Cynthia-Rose leapt up from her seat, straining her ear to hear it again.

"Yes, the stupid woman is back again. Damn it, I'm going to kill Shawshank when I see her. The one time we need her to answer her phone." Fat Amy ended the call and groaned.

"No, not her. Wait, ring her again." Cynthia-Rose demanded.

"Cynthia she isn't answering. You just heard the woman, "The person you're trying to call is currently unavailable. Please try again later."" Amy mimicked the woman's voice. "Look, I've been able to recite what she says with all the non-answering Beca has been doing."

"Just trust me." Cynthia-Rose said and Amy dialled again.

"I'm telling you-" The Australian was cut off when she too heard the slightly familiar tune ringing from a distance. "Doesn't that sound like-"

"TITANIUM!" Both girls cried at the same time. They both knew this was Beca's ring tone and were soon darting towards the ever growing sound. Fat Amy resistance to walking now forgotten as she ran as fast as she could.

Just as the ringtone cut out Fat Amy saw a figure curled up on the floor, her phone pocking out her back pocket of her jeans. They both sprung on the girl. Her hair was matted with blood against her face. The start of a bruise under the cut could be seen. The girl was scrunched up, one hand over her stomach whilst the other was lying limply on the cool floor.
