Jennifer

Marty's POV

I left out of Jenni's driveway to head to Jennifer's. She lives about 10 minutes from me. I guess since I've got a little drive I can think better. Why did I act like that around her? I feel so stupid. I mean she's not my girlfriend, Jen is.

I know I wasn't actually cheating on her. Still, now that I'm alone thinking about it, it feels like I've done something wrong. But I haven't. At least I don't think I did. I love Jen, I really do. We're gonna be married and have two kids in the future. But the way things are now I feel like that's going to somehow change.

Jen and I aren't really having problems so to speak, but we've been arguing a little more than usual. Mainly when I end up spending more time with Doc than I do her. I try to tell her it's not on purpose. I love being with her. I don't want her to think that I don't. Although, sometimes she doesn't seem to believe me.

I know I've been a little busy with all of the time travel stuff with Doc and I've seen so many different versions of her from all the altered timelines, it's like I don't know her sometimes like I used to. I know each time the timeline gets fixed she goes back to the Jen I know and love, but at the same time I've noticed that she's somehow different. I don't know how, but it's true. It hasn't changed her completely, yet at the same time something has changed.

Jen still loves me and everything else so I shouldn't complain too much. I don't know what to think anymore about her. When I met Jenni, something about her reminded me about the Jennifer that I used to see before I knew about time travel.

I can't explain it, but I wanted her close to me. When I was trying to get her to come near me, I wasn't planning on pulling her into my lap. It just sort of happened. Like I told her, I was actually trying to get her near me and hug her standing up. Now I've got that plus the driveway thing on my list of crazy things I don't know how to explain.

For some reason I just didn't want to leave her side. I wanted to keep holding her and get to know her. I sigh. I don't know what to think anymore. I need to talk to Doc about this. Maybe he can help me and ease my mind. I'll stop by after seeing Jen.

I make it to Jen's house and pull into her driveway. I get out and shut the door. I walk up to the front door and knock. I take a step back and wait for an answer. A few seconds later the door creaks open, revealing a smiling Jennifer. I smile back at her. She holds out her arms and goes to hug me. I hug back.

At first it feels awkward, but then the normal-ness sets back in. Jen kisses my cheek. "Hey you." She greets. "Hey to you too." I lean in to kiss her cheek. "You smell different." Jen asks, scrunching up her nose when I pull away. "What do you mean?" I ask, not knowing what she's talking about. "It's not a bad smell, but I know it's not your regular cologne. It kind of smells a little girly." Jen says, explaining the smell. Damn it. It must be from where I hugged Jenni earlier.

I knew she smelled good, but I didn't think she was wearing perfume. I just thought it was the brand of shampoo she used or something. I quickly try to think of a little white lie. I don't want her to assume I'm cheating on her because I'm not. If I was, I must be cheating on myself.

Okay, I know my mom's been trying out new stuff lately when her and dad go out. Doc's been bringing Clara small bottles of perfume from the past and the future when he picks up supplies or he knows he's been away too long. I've also been taking care of Einie for Doc lately when he knows he's going to be gone for a few days. Okay, I'll just combine something like that into a sentence. It may not be the main part of truth, which is that I've been around and hugging another girl that's not Jen, but it's mostly the truth.

I hope this doesn't backfire on me. Okay, here it goes. "If it's not my mom trying out something new, it's probably Clara and a mix of Einie. You know how Doc is about bringing her small gifts from the future or past that's out of date." "Oh, okay then." She seems to buy it. For now that is. "Yeah, I was over there this morning. I went to the arcade for a little bit then got home shortly before you called." Jen nodded and motioned for me to come in. I follow her to her room where we usually hang out.

As usual, she's in front of me. For the hell of it she sways her hips. I swear she's doing that on purpose. I shake my head not wanting to think about that kind of thing right now. It'll happen when the time is right, not like this. She opens the door and we both follow through.

I sit on the bed and she sits next to me on the other side. I look at her and softly smile. She mirrors the same smile back at me. I lean in to kiss her on the lips this time. I close my eyes when I got close enough to her face to not have to see anymore. I feel her lips against mine. So soft, sweet and warm like all the other times we kissed when we first started dating. Jen places one hand on my shoulder and leans into me.

I place my hand on the small of her back. I feel her hand caress my cheek. I run my fingers through her soft curly hair. I lick the bottom of her lip. I feel her lips trying to curl into a smile. She allows me to stick my tongue into her mouth. I feel my body leaning backwards. My head touches the blanket, just under the pillow. Her hand moves away from my face and touches my chest.

Her fingers draw circles and squiggly lines. It sorta tickles, but it still feels good. I feel the hem of my shirt move. Now what is she doing? We haven't exactly talked about sex before, but I hope she's not thinking about it right now because I don't have anything with me even if I wanted to. The tips of her fingers start to go underneath my shirt.

I start to hear a voice in the haze of confusion. "Jennifer!" "Jennifer sweetheart, are you up there?" I faintly hear her mother call. I stop kissing Jen and she partly pulls away from me. "Sorry Marty." Jen says and gives me a quick kiss on the lips. "Coming!" She calls back to her mom. Jen's already up and halfway out the door when I slowly sit up. I shake my head and quickly walk after her.

When I get down the stairs, she's talking to her mom. Just like old times. Only I don't think those times she was trying to do anything sexual with me. I look at my watch. it's six thirty now. I should get to Doc's before it gets too late. Plus, my mom will kill me if I'm late for dinner again.

Jen walks over to me and gently takes my hand in hers. Hand in hand, we walk outside together in the warm summer air. We stop walking when we're a foot from the door. "Um Jen, I should get going before it gets too late. My mom will kill me if I'm late for dinner again." I say trying to get away a little early. She sighs. "Yeah, you're probably right. I don't want to get you in trouble 'cause I want you to stay with me longer." "I'll see you later." I kiss her on the cheek then drop her hand. She nods. "Are you busy tomorrow?" Jen asks. I'd really like a break from Jennifer for a few days.

I mean like a real break in this timeline. The correct one. "I don't know yet. I've gotta take Einie for a walk in the morning so I kinda gotta get up early." I say not giving a complete answer. "Well, I would help you, but I'm busy tomorrow morning. I take my thumb and caress her cheek. "It's okay, everything will be alright." I assure her. She gives a little smile. "I'll call you later tomorrow. I kiss her cheek and went to my truck. Jen gives a small wave as I pull out of the driveway. I wave back. I hope I didn't upset her too much. I'll see her at school Monday.

Normally I would go home after being with Jen, but I needed to see the Doc. I need to talk to him about what happened today. Meeting Jenni and how I felt and what it's got to do with the future. Doc always tells me it's not good to know too much about the future, but I can know this right?

I pull into the driveway and rush to the front door. I knock and wait impatiently for someone to come to the door. I hear footsteps and the rattling of the door knob. The door clicks open. Instead of seeing Doc, it's Clara poking her head out the door. "Oh, hello Marty." She greets like usual. "Hi Clara, is the Doc in?" I ask, hoping he hasn't went out anywhere or on any time trips. "Yeah, he's just downstairs." I smile at her thankful. "Great, thanks." "Emmett sweetheart, Marty's here to see you!" Clara calls to her husband. "Oh Marty, come on down." Doc calls from downstairs. Clara smiles sweetly and let's me pass her.

I jog down the stairs and see Doc messing with some sciencey stuff. "Hey Doc, I need to talk to you." I say nervously. "What is it Marty, something trying to mess up the space time continuum again?" Doc asks, jumping out of his chair about to race to get to the Dmc. "No, no Doc. It's nothing like that. At least I hope not. But anyways, it's about this girl I met earlier today." I begin. Doc sits back down in his chair. "Oh I see. Go on." Doc encourages me to continue.

"This girl, her name is Jenni and I met her at the arcade this afternoon. Shortly after talking to her a little, I decided to take her back to my place. The way I acted around her. I wish I knew what was going on. At my house I felt like she was being pushed onto me. Then when I dropped her off at her house I didn't want her to go. Doc, tell me what's going on with me." I explain, not knowing what to say through most of it. Doc smiled as if he knew something I didn't. He rests a hand on my shoulder. "Marty, as you already know it's not a good thing to know too much about your future." "Yeah Doc, I already know this." I tell him, kind of getting impatient. "There's not much I can really tell you, but the last time I took a little trip to the future, the kids looked a little different." He said in only so many words.

I looked at him funny. What's wrong with the kids? I hope Marty jr isn't in any kind of trouble again. "What do you mean they looked different? Is something wrong with them?" I asked worried. "No, they're perfectly fine Marty." Doc snickers like I'm joking. "Seriously Doc, I'm not kidding." He softly chuckles. "Fine, fine. Let's just say Jen changes over time. I can't say when or how, but you'll find out some time in the future." Again, Doc leaves me hanging on the details. Sadly, I get where he's coming from. I know he'd tell me if he could.

"Jen changes?" I look at him in disbelief. Doc nods his head. "I'm sorry Marty. I can't tell you no more than that." He pierces his lips, making it clear that this was his final answer on the subject. "So what's your advice for me Doc? You know, about this new girl?" I ask, changing the subject since I wasn't getting anywhere with my other questions. Doc's smile doesn't falter this time, it only grows. "Just keep doing what you're doing Marty. I promise you everything will be alright." I honestly don't know what to think of that, but I'll listen to him anyway. Doc always gives me the best advice. "Thanks Doc." I give him a smile and a nod of my head as I start to head towards the stairs. He smiles and nods back. "Don't forget to take Einie for a walk tomorrow morning like usual. He never misses a chance to spend time with you." He reminds me with a small laugh. Oh right, Einie. I almost forgot about him.

Einie perks up from his nap and starts wagging his tail. I walk over to him and kneel down to pet his head. "One last thing Marty." I look up at him, still scratching Einie behind the ears. His favorite place to be scratched. "Yeah Doc?" "Are you starting to not want to spend as much time as you used to with Jennifer?" Now this is a peculiar question. Since it's coming from Doc it's not necessarily too strange. "Um, yeah sorta. Why?" "No reason. Just wondered from the way you were talking earlier." Yeah he knows something that he's not telling me. Although I'm not going to try and pursue the subject due to the fact it'll leave me with more questions than answers.

I nod, pretending my mind isn't filled with a bunch of new questions surrounding my future with my current girlfriend and new found friend. I turn my attention to Einie. "See ya in the morning Einie." I rub his head. "Talk to ya later Doc." I wave on my way out. "Goodnight Marty." Doc waves back then returns to what he was working on before I came in. I tell Clara goodnight and remind her that I'll be back in the morning to walk Einie. She nods and tells me goodnight. I get in my truck and head for home.

I get home just before dinner. Shortly after, mom calls me to the table. I sit and listen to my parent's conversation about their day. They ask me about mine and I give them the short un-detailed version. I met a girl at the arcade and we became fast friends. Telling them this arose questions about Jennifer.

Questions like how it would affect her and us together as a couple. I wasn't able to say much about that subject. Especially since I haven't gotten that far to have to think about it. They tell me that if something happens to us over Jenni that she's not the right girl for me.

With dinner over with, I lie on my bed. My thoughts drift to everything that's happened recently. My lack of want for Jennifer's presence as of late. Speaking of which, I never exactly told her that I wanted to have time to myself. Hopefully it was sort of implied when she asked me what I was doing tomorrow. Also, meeting Jenni, or as Doc seems to imply, my new Jen. Come to think of it, I never really had much thought about what would happen if me and Jen broke up. I kind of wonder how I would feel if we did. Would I be upset or would I end up being okay with it? One day it's possible I'll end up having to find out whether I want to or not.

I miss Jenni. I kind of wish she was here right now. Playing duck hunt never seemed more fun to play with someone until she came along. I wish she was here playing it with me again. I miss her wavy golden brown hair and those eyes of her's. She has really pretty blue green eyes that I could stare at for hours and not get bored. She's got a nice figure to her. Like I was tempted to say to the younger version of my mom, she's hot.

Wait. Am I starting to really drift away from Jennifer like Doc was talking about? If I am will Jen understand? I still love her, but I'm starting to rethink our relationship together. If something happens we do break up, I'll still be friends with her. It's the least I can do to make it up to her just in case. But only if that's what she wants.

I wonder if Jenni would like to take a walk with me and Einie tomorrow. Only one way to find out. I'll just have to go to her house in the morning. For now that's the only way I can ask her since I don't exactly have her number. Yet that is.

I smile at the thought of walking Einie with Jenni by my side. I can no longer keep my eyes open. Time for me to get some sleep. I roll over on my side like usual and fall asleep in my signature position with thoughts of both girls on my mind.
