"Those will be the permanent rules, for now," Eunhyuk concluded.

"Let's start the training, tomorrow. We can't waste any time." Yunji added,

The first floor had improved with the help of Mr. Han,

Yunji discussed things with Eunhyuk, including additional plans for situations that go south.

The man agreed, Yunji dropped the pen and walked away.

"You're still going there?" Eunhyuk confronted her

"...I want to share my condolences,"

"You know it wasn't your fault."

"It is, and as I said, I am accountable for their deaths."

The girl started to get too obstinate, and Eunhyuk sighed heavily.

Every time she would wake up, tears would flow from her eyes.

Sangwook was staring at something he dropped as she watched him dig a little trench.

Upon hearing someone walk behind him, he saw her assist him in covering it, he buried it beneath the soil.

The girl knelt quietly between the three tombs as he looked for an aluminum tray and sat down.

Sangwook took his lighter and the images he had hidden, burning them inside the tray.

"Why are you burning money?" When the girl finished her spiritual session, she rose up and was questioned.

"I was paid to do an errand, I failed..."

"...why am I here?"

She walked up beside him,

"May I?"

The girl asked for permission to sit beside him, and he nodded.

She pulled something out of her pocket and held out the flip phone he dropped the night before.

"I'm sorry, I saw the text message." Sangwook took the phone from Yunji after she apologized and looked at the texts.

"Not everyone agrees, but you can stay if you want... I don't think what you did was right, but you did what you had to do."

He turned the phone off and tucked it inside his clothes.

He reached from his pockets to get his cigarette pack, but turns out it was empty so he threw it away and heavily sighed.

But, Yunji took out hers and offered him to take one.

Sangwook looked at the cigarette pack in her palm, and then at her. She then nodded to signal him that he could take one, but he didn't decline the offer.

"I hope, I could understand you more in the future," Yunji took one as well, lighting it with her own lighter.

"If you don't explain your problem, who can help you?"

Yunji spoke, confusing the man beside her as he exhaled the smoke.

"Every problem has its solution, but if you don't talk, no one can help you."

Yunji got to her feet, unfastened her jacket, and slung it over his shoulder as he puzzledly at it.

"It's probably a little small━you can return it back to me anytime or you could keep it if it fits. I like oversized jackets, and that one's too large on me. So it'll probably fit you," Yunji chuckled.

The guy saw tons of scars, cuts on her wrists.

"Don't say a word about it." She spoke, seeing that he had noticed the healed cuts.

"You could restart your life by replacing the things you've done before, with new ones. It is all up to your decision."

"The name's Shin Yunji."

"Pyeon Sangwook."

As crimson liquid drops smashed into the water on the faucet filled with water, Yunji once again trembled and glanced in the mirror. once observing this, her nose began to bleed again.

she let out a spine-tingling scream and drew back. As the two men staying with her examined the cause of Mrs. Hyein's behavior.

They saw the girl walk toward them with her nose continuously dripping blood,

The residents surrounding the area heard of it and took action,

Whistling, Eunhyuk tugged the rope to ring the bell. notifying nearby residents that a monster was present.

Her sounds sounded like zombies, and her gaze was ominous.

When she spotted Jisu pointing her wooden stick in her direction, she immediately halted.

She followed Jisu as he took a sluggish step backward while rolling her eyes and acting like a "zombie."

The girl was suddenly caught in a net, unable to move freely as she was preoccupied with the green net.

Eunyu stood up from her seat and cheered for the girl,

"This is just great, huh, have fun." She sarcastically spoke, walking away as if she was only there to give comments.

"━What is she here for?"

"━Are they really siblings...?"

"━Is she adopted or something?"

Talking among themselves, Mrs. Hyein did. Sangwook was present and saw their drill.

"The net, it isn't stable enough. Nor the ropes, if I were a monster that wasn't light and stable. We'd all be dead by now."

The girl was revealed as she softly wiped her nose with her palm as the people carrying the net carefully dropped it down.

"I see." Mr. Han spoke.

"And, most of you, I told you to go all out on me as if I was a monster, why couldn't you?" She scolded.

"Mrs. Hyein, Seungwan, Byeongil. You took longer to realize a monster was there, you weren't on your guard."

"Jisu?"

"If I did hit you, you could've had a concussion." She reasoned.

"That's fine by me."

"Really?!"

"However, we're still starting the training. It'll be planned on day after day, so don't worry." Yunji announced.

"But, we don't know if one of us will turn into a monster, or a monster will personally come to get us." She cracked her back as the others understood.

She looked at Eunhyuk as the two nodded.

"Let's call it a day, good work," Eunhyuk said to the others.

Putting tissues in her nose to block the remaining blood, Yunji went back to the bathroom to clean herself up.

Until, she heard the stall open, revealing the one and only sibling of Eunhyuk, Lee Eunyu.

"You look better as a monster," She babbled as she left the stall and rested against the metal door.

"So, becoming a monster is your dream? Why do you try so hard?"

Yunji ignored her remarks and continued washing her face.

"When monsters do show up, we'll all be killed. Trying hard won't stop that."

"I know, the only reason I'm doing this is to give people hope, so, I look forward to your turn," Yunji replied, a smile on her face showed.

Eunyu turned to her, with a sarcastic smile on her face as well.

"Me? I won't do it, do you think I'm crazy?"

"Yeah, no offense, but you're a crazy bitch. That's whyyy, you'll end up doing it━"

Yunji stood taller than her, intimidating the younger one in front of her.

"━eveeeeennn harder than me."

Yunji left the room, pissing the girl off even more.

Yeongsu took a position in front of the board that was home to the complex's official regulations as well as the list of individuals Yunji and Eunhyuk liked to refer to as the "buddy system list."

"What? My name isn't on it." He complained.

"Mine isn't on it, either." Gilseop appeared beside the child, as they looked at each other.

"You can be my buddy." He offered

"With you?" Yeongsu asked, and Gilseop nodded

"Because..."

he leaned down to the kid, and closer to his ear to whisper something.

"we're secret agents."

Gilseop dramatically wore his black shades, and both had developed a bond by being 'secret agents'.

GREEN HOME RULES OF SURVIVAL:

One, move in two groups or more. Report anything unusual, even in the smallest details.

"Uhm, excuse me, I forgot to write your names."

Yunji appeared behind them, with a sharpie in her hand.

The two turned around to look at her and scattered away.

"Okay..."

Two, eat once a day. Only the prescribed amount is distributed.

Knowing that his dinner contained a rice ball, Byeongil was eager to eat. But as Jieun finished putting food on his tray, he was dissatisfied with the size of the rice ball.

"wHAt is this? you call this a rice ball??? It should be at least this big!" He whined, showing her a fist of his hand.

Jieun wasn't the one to talk, instead, she just stared at the guy.

Byeongil deadpanned and stuffed all the food into his mouth in one go, returning the tray already and carrying the paper cup with him.

Three, check everyone's temperature every night at 8 p.m.

Yuri was in charge of that, listing everyone's temperatures on paper.

And lastly,

Quarantine the infected.

"Hey," he heard Yujin's voice.

He looked at her, saw her step her foot into the quarantine area, and took out a wipe from her pocket.

"It's been hell out there, isn't it?"

She received no response.

"Let's go outside, take a quick breath."

She made a suggestion, to grab his attention, she intended to hit his shoulder. showing her a folded piece of paper

"But, you're not allowed━"

"━I'm pretty sure nobody cares, you're with me. Let's take a minute to enjoy the wrecked world outside."

"What do you say, you in?"

Yunji used the emergency axe as her weapon and trailed behind Hyunsu.

As he placed traps to determine whether a monster was around, she made a conscious effort not to walk in his direction.

To access the upper stories, they both used the emergency stairs outside the building.

On the 16th floor, they were already close to Yunji's room. She waited while Hyunsu attached a threaded clip to a switch box.

Setting up another trap just in case.

The two moved side to side, avoiding the strings smoothly, and moved forward.

After she finished gathering some useful objects, Yunji was the one to examine the absurd list of stuff that the other residents wanted Hyunsu to get.

The two heard the bells chime when they were finished taking the stuff into the room. Singing that a monster was close by,

He worriedly turned to face the girl standing next to him, but she only met his icy gaze.

"Don't worry about me." It's what her eyes said.

While preparing to open the door, Hyunsu nodded and peered out at the view through the peephole.

The bells and balloons popped just in time, the monster shattered the property within,

The room was entirely destroyed in a flash. Yunji squatted as Hyunsu lay on the ground.

The sonic monster came to a stop close to Yunji, revealing its hefty legs and blazing heart.

"Time to get real freaky."

She pondered and swung the axe at it.

"W-When do you think Hyunsu will be back?" Seungwan asked.

The other residents started cracking open the alcohol bottles and putting rags into them, making Molotov cocktails

"I don't know, he's late today. Do you think something happened to him?" Mrs. Hyein asked,

"━You know he doesn't die, even if he gets hurt, he gets better after a nap," Jaehwon remarked,

Sangwook was inside, eavesdropping on the conversation. At the same time, he was being a watchman.

Eunhyuk appeared by the door, checking on the room.

"Have you all heard about Yunji? She's not in the nursery or anywhere on the first floor." He asked,

Nobody had a clue where she had gone,

Eunhyuk understood as he was about to leave to search for her. A whistle blew, and everyone became alarmed and got to their feet to leave the store.

"━Where is it?"

"━Where?"

"Come here!" Jieun, who was terrified, was shouted at by Mrs. Hyein and instantly ran to her side.

"━It's going to come this way."

"━Hurry!"

Those present could see the monster's shadow, waiting for it to emerge as it moved forward.

Sangwook, on the other hand, wanted to end things quickly so he decided to interfere. But, a hand grabbed his shoulder.

He turned around to see Seonyeong.

"It's my husband, I have to do this."

Its motions were strange, and it had a disgusting look with hair all around it.

The others attempted to stop Seonyeong as she proceeded closer to it, but she disregarded them and continued to look at the repulsive creature.

"Pull yourself together, Kim Seokhyeon."

His hand attempted to reach out to her but was forcibly stopped by the copious amount of hair, his body moving abnormally in response to the sound of her words.

"Kim Seokhyeon. Pull yourself together!"

It immediately stopped moving as she yelled, swinging it on its head with the metal pipe in her hand.

"You're back,"

Seonyeong looked at her husband's face, which was not even recognizable.

"Do you have any last words?"

"Please...kill...me..."

He muttered, trying to talk while he still had his human consciousness.

Seonyeong tried her best not to break down, as she remembered the words from Yunji's voice.

"Let it all out."

Her angelic voice rang through her head.

"...And...I'm...sorry..."

Seonyeong gripped the pipe greatly, as her tears of anger couldn't help but flow.

She swung it on his head, multiple times.

Her aching voice continued to sob while she crushed his head.

"Let it all out..."

She cried and cried, blood splattered all across the floor, and even on her face.

The creature was curved into a ball, and Seonyeong couldn't take the courage to kill him completely and broke down, crying on her knees.

The axe's blade was nearly at Yunji's neck when the fast-running creature flew across the passage and crushed her.

Until Hyunsu appeared behind the monster and stabbed him in the neck with his knife before pulling the trigger on his taser, electrocuting both the beast and Yunji.

Despite enduring the electric shocks coursing through her body, Yunji twisted the axe around and thrust it quickly in the direction of the creature's neck.

Hyunsu was electrocuting his rear neck as Yunji was on the verge of cutting it off.

She exerted all of her effort to force the axe's head away from its body, but he quickly regained control of his legs and fled.

The two were both injured badly,

While Yunji was bleeding profusely from her waist and had several cuts on her face, Hyunsu's eyes were completely black.

He reached his hand out for her to grab onto it, in order for her to stand up.

She accepted the offer and continued forward, despite being heavily wounded.

When they arrived at their final destination, the 17th floor, Yunji hobbled into her room while holding her hip and entered the PIN.

Hyunsu was pulled inside with her as she grabbed hold of his shoulder and locked the door with her bloodied axe securing it.

The two collapsed to the ground on the floor, worn out. Hyunsu was getting better, while Yunji winced from hip discomfort.

"Y-You...should've come with me," said the male,

The girl didn't respond; instead, she struggled towards her spacious area while using the wall to assist her stand-up.

She knelled down near a drawer next to her bed, checking something important.

Hyunsu followed her and saw her pull out a gun, and inserted bullets.

"What? Do you think I'll use it on you?" She chuckled and opened her own bag to stuff the weapon in.

"How do you have that━"

Hyunsu saw that she was already able to walk steadily on her own and was no longer trembling or putting her hand on her hip.

She saw her take another bag, in which she placed all her food and water from the refrigerator and the cabinets.

Yunji brought all the water bottles and refilled them using the water from her faucet.

"Yunji..." Hyunsu called, with a seemingly concerned tone.

"Hmm?"

"Are you... feeling any pain right now?"

He asked straightforwardly, she turned around to face him and leaned on the kitchen counter.

She showed him the wound on her hip, that was rapidly healing, even the cuts on her face. It was all gone,

"You are..."

"...Infected."

Yunji ended his statement for him, heaving a sigh as she put her kitchen knives and the water bottles in her baggage.

The youngster stood there in shock as she set the bag on the table and rested while leaning back on the couch.

"For how long?"

"I... don't know."

"But it's been a while, before this all happened, I had numerous nosebleeds." She answered sternly."I didn't know how to tell them,"

"...Let's...relax, for a while, before going down. I just... want to feel this place for one last time before I say goodbye to it."

Hyunsu understood and placed his weapon on the wall and his bag on the chair. And scooted over next to her on the couch.

"Hyunsu," Yunji muttered,

"...yes?"

"You... remind me, of my old self."

It confused the boy, not knowing what she meant by that statement.

"Pardon?"

She looked at him, and then to his wrist, which had a large and long scar.

She then showed him hers, but instead, it was large and uncountable cuts.

"...You... cut yourself too?"

"It was the only way I could cope,"

"I was bullied, from elementary to college. Severely."

"I bought that gun two months ago because I planned on killing myself cuz' I didn't know... what to do... or, what to be..."

"I was in despair."

"And I can't bring myself to forget that my own sister caused me all that trauma."

She vented, taking a cigarette from her pocket and lighting it. Smoking the nicotine in and out.

"It was even harder in medical school, I had to deal with bullying and studying. Part-time jobs, and the guilt."

"I desired to get out of this living hell."

"The noises inside of my brain... it's annoying me, nagging me, urging me to go and merge with it."

"...It does the same to me as well," Hyunsu spoke

"But I don't know why I kept on living."

"But I don't know why I kept on living."

The two spoke at the same time, surprising each other but then chuckled.

"Let's just..."

she stomped on the cigarette and Hyunsu was curious about what the sentence was.

"...breath in."

She inhaled and had Hyunsu do it too. Yunji smiled,

"...breath out."

They both exhaled, feeling the sweet oxygen of the room.

After that, Yunji packed all of her medical equipment into zip locks and stuffed her medical books as well.

From the box of cigarettes, she took three packs from it.

And then she changed her clothes into a black tank top covered by an oversized racing jacket.

She then let Hyunsu borrow one of her jacket and jogging pants.

"Let's go? "

Yunji asked the boy,

"Let's go."

Hyunsu answered, confidently this time.

The emergency door lighten, and Seonyeong cried over Seokhyeon's dead monsterized body.

"Open the goddamned door━"

Yunji thought, the two panted as they made their way back to the first floor. The door opened, and it was Eunyu.

She was concerned about how the girl got there and realized that she joined Hyunsu.

The two went past the girl, walking down the stairs as they caught their breath.

The residents saw them, all bloody and bruised.

Eunhyuk rushed over to the girl, while Hyunsu saw the scene in front of them.

He dropped the supplies on the floor and walked slowly to the quarantine room again.

"You went with Hyunsu? Have you lost your mind?" Eunhyuk asked, seeing new bandages on her face. Also, new clothes.

She tossed him a bag, full of food and water. A medkit, and medical tools.

"Where did you..."

"Got them from my room, it was worth it, wasn't it?"

She then glanced at the woman crying near a monster's dead body, walking over towards her and holding hers.

She comforted Seonyeong, as she wailed in front of her husband's corpse.

Yunji stared at the blood on the floor, seeing her monster's appearance in the liquid's reflection.

"YOU'LL END UP LIKE THIS TOO. DON'T DENY IT..."

"THEY COULD KILL YOU... IF THEY WANTED TO."

During that night, the electricity of the building went off.

While Yunji discussed some things with Eunhyuk, she accidentally fell asleep.

The boy noticed it and let her rest peacefully,

As she drifted into sleep, the only thing she felt is cold liquid surrounding her, and felt as if she was chained.

There, her identical appearance walked over to her, with the same scarlet and cracked eyes, along with her black tattoos.

"What do you want?" asked the girl in a tired voice, seeing the monster of hers appear once again.

"I DON'T KNOW." It answered in a distorted voice,

"What?"

"BUT, I WILL, IF YOU SHOW ME YOUR DESIRE."

"So, your only purpose is to find out my desire, and control me?"

"CONTROL...? HEH, THAT SOUNDS NICE."

"BUT, I'LL ONLY MAKE YOU STRONGER, MORE POWERFUL THAN EVER, TO THE POINT YOU CAN REIGN THE WORLD!"

"...So, if I reveal my desire, that's what you'll do?"

"EXACTLY, SO COME ON, TELL ME, WHAT IS YOUR DESIRE~?"

"For you to leave me the fuck alone!"

Her fist tried to collide with the monster's face, but, instead, the glass cracked as if it was only a reflection.

"I'LL GET TO YOU, SHIN YUNJI."

"YOU'LL EVENTUALLY SUCCUMB TO ME, AND I'LL BE GLAD TO TAKE YOU AS MY VESSEL."

"EVEN IF IT'S BY FORCE."

Yunji jolted out of her nap, breathing heavily as she looked around the room. She found nothing but candles being their only source of light.

She rested herself on the counter, calming herself down after that encounter.

"Nightmare?" She heard a male voice speak, it was her friend, Eunhyuk.

"Sorry━it's nothing. What happened to the lights?" Yunji inquired

"The electricity went off again," He replied, walking over to the apartment's layout map.

Yunji sighed heavily, massaging her nose bridge, and stood up.

"How are you feeling?" He asked,

"Better than ever," Yunji answered,

"Did you two encounter a monster?"

"Yeah, it had bulky legs and could run in what felt like a blink of an eye,"

Yunji suddenly grabbed a pen and a piece of paper, sketching what seemed to be the appearance of that monster based on her memory.

She had amazing drawing skills, so it was easy for her to draw that monstrous portrait.

Once she was done, she gave it to the guy and he inspected it. Seeing the details of the drawing astonished him inside, but his expression remained itself.

He took a pin and displayed it on the wall,

"Its abilities━ from what I know it could run really fucking fast, and it has heightened senses."

A brief moment of silence passed the two, as the girl spoke.

"Eunhyuk, be honest with me,"

"Do you think we could survive? "

Yunji and Eunhyuk walked together toward the gaming room, ignoring Eunyu who exited.

"Leave him alone."

She raised her voice, getting the attention of the two who walked past her.

"If it's that important, you go yourself."

"━Stop it," Yunji stated, facing the girl.

"━Hey!"

"You're the worst, you act like you care but you just stand by and do nothing. You're no different."

"What about you? The only thing you run is your mouth,"

"You fucking bitch━"

"━Eunyu, that's enough." Eunhyuk defended, walking up to her to stop her from insulting Yunji.

"Stay out of it! You aren't even my real brother!"

Something inside of Yunji snapped.

Yunji pushed Eunhyuk back and slapped the girl to shut her mouth.

"You've crossed that fucking line,"

The teenager looked at the girl in disbelief, as she walked away in anger.

Yunji breathed out deeply, looking at the guy who was shocked to see that.

"I'm sorry━ for hitting your sister, it's just... she crossed the line."

She received no answer from Eunhyuk and just walked inside the quarantine room.

Instead of following him, she decided to just listen in.

"We have to go outside, there's no guarantee we'll be safe here. Nothing happened when Yunji retrieved the corpses, she said the situation might've calmed down."

Eunhyuk informed Hyunsu who was listening,

"So?"

"It's... taking you longer and longer to recover. We don't know when you'll turn into a monster."

Hyunsu glanced at Yunji who leaned on the door, seeing her eyes look at his.

"You think... I'll hurt you guys if I become a monster?"

Eunhyuk adjusted his glasses and tucked his hands inside his pockets.

"There are monsters that don't hurt people,"

"So?"

"Can you be sure you'll be like them?"

"A monster is a monster,"

The girl's mind broadened, hearing the words coming out of Eunhyuk's mouth.

It scared her more for him to think like that if she revealed she was infected,

what if she gets thrown away?

what if they'll kill her if she revealed she was infected?

what if...

"We don't have time, we must find a way to survive while you can still resist."

She was snapped back to reality by the sound of his voice,

"I don't expect you to understand, just do your job."

Eunhyuk left the room, walking past the girl leaning on the side of the door.

"I'm sorry, Hyunsu. I'll make sure I'll repay you for this."

Yujin stated, following the man who left the room a while ago.

Yujin, Eunhyuk, and Mr. Han were looking closely at the CCTVs, to ensure that Hyunsu was safe while he fixed the security camera there.

We saw his face, his hand adjusting the camera in the parking lot area.

Everything was going smoothly, he fixed the camera to give it a wider view.

Until he was suddenly pulled away by something forcefully, concerning the people watching from the screen.

He hung upside down, seeing spiderweb restrict him from moving.

Hyunsu was useless in the situation, he was stuck in the basement.

Yunji stood up from her seat and grabbed the modified axe that was displayed on the wall. She grabbed her earphones and her phone, a flashlight, and her small bag.

"Stop━" Eunhyuk spoke

"━I'm going, Hyunsu is stuck there."

"You're not going."

"Not alone, you're taking me with you."
