[49] Mangekyo

"Foolish." Her voice whispers in his ear, surprising him.

Kagami jumps into the air, avoiding his sight. She brings her leg up, twisting her body around to smack her shin into his head. He ducks, avoiding her leg but reaches up in time to grab the back of her shirt and toss her away from him and towards her brother. Kakashi grabs her easily, wrapping his arms around her as she lands flat in his chest. She grunts in his arms lightly, looking down to avoid the red eyes of the Uchiha.

"You're the one thats being foolish, Kagami." He places her on her feet.

She puffs her cheeks out and crouches down, grabbing her katana in her hand and making eye contact with Kisame.

"I'll kill you fishsticks."

"What did you say, little girl?"

That's when the fighting started. Kagami's outburst was surprising to those present but they can understand why. She's been cooped up in a hospital, and it is well known that she spent most of her Root days killing people. So figuratively speaking, she's itching to kill. Kagami shoots forward, disappearing instantly. But Kisame is ready. He already has his sword at the ready, unwrapped and looking dangerous. She dances around him, her steps disturbing the water as she spins. He lunges out, effectively getting a stab at her. But instead of hitting her, he hits a sort of silver barrier, its chakra being eaten instantly.

She slices back at him, creating a small cut on his cheek. He frowns at her as she bounces away lightly, back towards her brother who is having a rest as Asuma and Kurenai rush at Itachi. Then he notices it. A slight hesitation in her step.

'Is she injured?'

He watches her closely, trying to pinpoint where her weakness is.

'Not her legs or hips, she is sure of her steps, it's when she comes close in contact with someone.'

He grins and swings his sword in front of her, purposely just missing her by a millimeter or two, but even though she is watching the sword carefully, she inches back just a fraction.

'So its minute, not a big problem. It's her eyesight.'

He sits back and chooses to let Itachi take the reins, he has useful information now and that's enough for him. Information can be better than the kill sometimes. Once again, Itachi aims for Kakashi, he has the best chance at knocking either of them out, but once again, Kagami gets in the way, jumping forward and pushing off her brothers chest, aiming to smack into Itachi, but instead Itachi ducks down and makes eye contact with her.

Itachi stares at Kagami, unimpressed.

"You shouldn't have done that, Kagami." He stares her down as she hangs from her restraints within the genjutsu.

She takes a moment to adjust to the new domain. Its dusted in red, the air seemingly heavier.

"You know me Itachi-nii." She gives him a weak smile, not ready for what's about to happen next, "I like to break the rules sometimes."

"I never guessed you would put yourself in the way of someone else." The man steps forward, kunai at the ready.

"You know why."

"Hn."

s.h.o.u.t.

A split second. That's all the time that passed while Kagami was in the genjutsu. But as Itachi let go of said jutsu, Kagami's real body, which is still flashing through the air over her brother, collides with him, causing him to stumble backward and grab onto her now unconscious body. Itachi holds onto her body tightly, hoping that he may be able to take her away from the dangers of Konoha.

But no.

Kakashi thinks not.

Immediately, as if knowing his plans, Kakashi shoots forward, almost carelessly. He aims straight for his sister, knowing that it's risky but it will also give Asuma and Kurenai a chance to get their bearings. He will get his sister back.

But no.

Itachi thinks not.

Itachi immediately breaks through Kakashi's Sharingan, bringing him into the genjutsu successfully this time.

"You are foolish like your sister." Kakashi looks up suddenly, noticing two Itachi's in front of him. "I control time, space and weight in the Tsukuyomi."

Kakashi grunts as Itachi stabs into him, the kunai digging into his ribs.

"For the next 72 hours, you are in my domain."

Kakashi suddenly gasps again, his body in a different place. He looks over and his eyes widen.

'Thats!'

He looks over to his left to see himself still tied up, the two Itachi still taking stabs at him. He grunts as another Itachi appears in front of him and stabs into him again.

"How do you know Kagami?"

The question catches the Uchiha off guard. Normally no one speaks out in Tsukuyomi, they are usually afraid of angering him and causing more pain for themselves. But it would seems that the Hatake is as determined as always. He chooses to ignore the question and just continues to stab and scratch at him, hopefully he will choose to keep his mouth shut for the rest of the time within the Tsukuyomi.

"How do you know Kagami?"

'Hn,' Itachi glares at the man in his restraints and once again refuses to reply to him.

Kakashi successfully grabs onto his sister as he transitions back into the dimension. Knowing he can't move well he just pulls her tightly into his chest and falls to his knees, calculating that Itachi will jump back to put space between them.

He does exactly that, still glaring heavily down at them all. He looks to the side as he notices Gai's chakra signature approaching them quickly. He sighs before turning back to them, his eyes lingering on Kagami for a second longer.

"We will take our leave now." He buttons up his cloak and picks up his and Kisame's straw hats, the said man following behind him.

"I hope we meet again." The blue man smirks before disappearing along with his partner.

Kakashi doesn't let his guard down until Gai appears, shouting and yelling.

"Kakashi my rival! Are you okay?!"

Kakashi just sighs and lets his body fall back, an unconscious Kagami falling with him.

"We should get him home, warn the Hokage." Gai picks up Kakashi, throwing him onto his back, a little haphazardly for Asuma's liking, and then reaches down to pick up Kagami's limp body.

Asuma sighs, looking at the two, "it would seem they went for the two they knew best."

Kurenai nods to him, slowly following Gai who has sped off into the distance towards the Hatake household. "I wonder how Kagami knows him, Tsunade-sama has mentioned a connection between the two before."

Asuma grunts in reply, pulling out a cigarette and lighting it up. He takes a deep drag of it before glancing at Gai who is now a speck in the distance. "I want to believe she is innocent, because I've never seen Kakashi happier than he is now, but everytime Kagami seems to prove herself innocent, she does something that proves her just as guilty."

Kurenai simply nods, not knowing enough of the girl to comment on the situation. She knows that Asuma has to listen to Ino constantly asking Shikamaru about the girl who he has named his 'friend.' Kurenai giggles at her thoughts. Asuma looks over at her, the giggle breaking him out of his thoughts.

"What is it?" He steps closer to her, confusion obvious on his features.

"When do you think they are going to go out?" She giggles again and looks up at him, "Shikamaru and Kagami?"

Asuma pauses for a second before also letting out a chuckle, looking up to the sky.

"Though it does seem like an inappropriate time to be talking about it," he pulls his cigarette from his lips, "I think it may be soon, did you see them on the roof?"

"Of course I saw them on the roof, the whole village did." Kurenai pushes her hair back, behind her shoulder, a little amused about how the two who keep to themselves showed such affection in public.

"Should we tell Shikamaru?" She asks.

"About the attack?"

"No, the kiss?"

"No."

" . . . ."

She turns to him, "we should probably go tell him about the attack."

"Yeah, that might be wise."

"I'll go now to the Nara's."

"I'll come."

"Okay."

" . . . . ."

"Gai can manage on his own."

"Yeah, until we get there."

"Yeah."

Gai lays Kagami down on the floor for a moment to place Kakashi on his bed, he had only been into their house a few times, but only before Kagami was around. He had to take a wild guess at where her room is. But as he strips him of his jonin vest and checks for extreme wounds, he knocks his arm off the bed, causing his knuckles to knock against the floor next to Kagami's head.

She starts to gain consciousness again, causing Gai to fret. She's going to wake up to herself on the floor and think he was neglecting her. But his eyes go wide as she doesn't wake up, but just lulls her head to the side, her face falling into her brother's hand. Gai lets out a heavy breath, prays to Kami before running into the other rooms and looking for pillows.

'Should I enter her room without permission?' He stares at the door, sweat dripping down his forehead. 'I must do this! Young Kagami will forgive me!'

He slowly walks in, making sure there aren't any traps or killing machines waiting for him. After being sure he is safe, he snatches up her pillow and blanket and rushes back to Kakashi's room. He lightly lifts her head from the floor, making sure to lift Kakashi's hand as well and places a pillow beneath her. He quickly covers her with the blanket and steps back, waiting for his comrades to come so he could ask Kurenai to help check over Kagami.

'Going into a ladies room and undressing one are two very different things.' He watches out the window for any sign of people arriving.

"Man this is troublesome." Shikamaru scratches the back of his head as they hurry their way to the two Hatake.

"We are going to have to wait for the Hokage to heal them, luckily Jiraiya-sama decided to go earlier otherwise we would have had to wait." Kurenai glances at the house, waiting to see Gai.

"He went early?" Shikamaru looks at his sensei for confirmation.

Asuma nods, "Kagami scared him away just after the Thirds death, he was planning on waiting to find Tsunade-sama."

"Well it's a pretty good coincidence if you ask me, aren't Naruto and Jiraiya out of the village again?" Shikamaru seems to become more confused as the conversation goes on.

"Kakashi said something about Naruto believing that Jiraiya-sama skipped all his training to get to Tsunade-sama quicker, something about another mission being moved. Anyway, Naruto demanded that he teaches him something before he can come back and does his 'research,' whatever that is." Asuma drops his cigarette to the ground and stomps it out, pointing to the house on there left. "This is the one."

"I still don't understand why he was in such a rush?" Shikamaru slips off his sandals as he enters the house.

"Sometimes Shikamaru, it's easier to just let it happen than question it." Asuma walks through the house, vaguely remembering where Kakashi's bedroom is.

"Yeah, Sensei. And then this happens." He mumbles as he glances into the room.

Kurenai steps forward after mumbling with Gai and checks Kagami's arms and torso, making sure she doesn't have any injuries. But as she does lift her shirt slightly, the thought-to-be unconscious girl lurches forward, eyes wide and body rigid. Without a second's hesitation she pulls her mask down and leans over the small bin next to her, emptying the contents of her stomach into it. Shikamaru sighs and shuffles over, patting her back and pulling her hair out of the way.

"You got out of the hospital yesterday, Kagami." He sighs.

"Shut up, Nara." Kagami mumbles before throwing up again.

"What happened?" Gai leans forward from his seat, his eyes wide.

Kagami leans backwards, pulling her mask up again, "Genjutsu, 72 hours in that stupid genjutsu." She shuffles back and glances at her brother, rolling her eyes. "I got in the way so he wouldn't get trapped."

"He tried to grab you, he acted recklessly if you ask me." They all glance at the unconscious man, his face contorted in pain.

"How did you recover so quickly?" Shikamaru leans against the wall, glancing at Kagami.

She narrows her eyes, "I believe that he went easy on me."

Gai's eyes widen, daring to take a glance at the girl who is leaning her head against the wall.

"I was partnered with him in Root, before the Hokage tried to dissolve it and it went underground." She gulps, obviously tired and battered. "He used to say I reminded him of Sasuke. It annoyed me."

'All Uchiha are annoying.'

Asuma and Shikamaru sweat-drop at her statement. Kurenai just stares at Kakashi along with Gai.

"We have to wait for Tsunade-sama to arrive," Kurenai glances between the two, aware that Kagami is just as battered, "Itachi Uchiha has been in the village, we are at risk."

"It's not nice to spy, Uchiha." Kagami glances at the door, but it's too late.

The boy goes running out the door and onto the streets.

"Kagami," the said girl turns towards Shikamaru, "you know Mum might kill you."

Suddenly the girl seems to go even paler, her eyes widening a little bit. She grabs onto his arm lightly from her spot before looking at Gai.

"Just say the Mangekyo got me."

do you like Itachi?

I know it's a bit of a miss match chapter and I've played with the timelines quite a lot, but bare with me, this will be the only big change to the original plot, it will tie in later.
