[47] Uchiha

Kagami stares out her window. Glaring as she watches her teammates walk around with each other.

'Here I am, stuck and alone. Abandoned.'

'That is highly dramatic,' Tomirama proves to be quite analytical like Kagami.

Whereas she believes that Hashirama would get along with Naruto famously. He is loud and cheerful.

'I like it!'

Kagami sighs, placing her arms behind her back and walking out of her room. She is aware that her brother will be training Sasuke and that Naruto will most likely be leaving with Jiraiya soon. She sighs and kicks open the roof door, making it slam against the wall.

She steps onto the warm concrete and looks to the sky. The weather's good, a little cloudy but otherwise it's all sunshine and rainbows. She walks to the edge and leans against the large wire fences that prevents anyone from falling off. She watches the town busy on with their day, either cleaning up mess or frantically trying to accommodate for masses of customers.

"They don't seem to slow down." Kagami glances around to see Shikamaru closing the door gently, unlike she had.

"Yes," she turns back and leans against the wire again, trying to find something to entertain her.

'OH! Young love!'

Kagami's face blushes bright red, her hands coming up to cover her already masked cheeks.

'Keep it PG.'

'TOBIRAMA!'

Kagami's knees go a little weak at this point. She shakes her head vigorously, confusing Shikamaru. He reaches out and grabs a hold of her shoulder.

"Are you okay?"

She nods and drops her hands, turning to him quietly and leaning once again against the wire. Shikamaru does the same and smiles down at her, he has grown. He is now just taller than her, but she doesn't mind.

'No se-'

'I'm cutting you off now.'

Kagami leans forward slowly and hugs him.

"I'm lonely," she whispers into the surprised boy's chest.

"Why? I thought you didn't need anyone?" He enjoys teasing her, mainly because it's quite difficult to do and he seems to be the only person who can with the acception of her brother.

"But I do now. Since I have been forced to join the Genin."

Shikamaru sweat-drops at her use for words.

'I wouldn't say you were forced.' He wraps his arms around her, pulling her closer and leaning back into the wire a little further.

"And now I'm lonely in this stupid prison."

'Prison?' He glances around and notices what she means.

Three Jonin, watching her from the surrounding areas. He decides against asking about them in case it upsets her and she decides to kill them.

"And Masaru won't talk to me."

'Ah, there it is.'

He sighs and pulls her closer to him, letting her lean against him completely.

"Tell me."

"Yusi died, and it's my fault. I sent them away to help. I should have just left them out of it." She keeps her face buried in his shoulder, clutching his shirt.

"They saved hundreds, Kagami," He looks around, slightly flustered with the situation, "Everyones talking about it. The two beasts that saved the lives of the next generation."

"They are not beasts!"

The boy recoils slightly, surprised with her outburst, she has never yelled at him before. When she's angry she tends to go quiet and just deal with it in physical combat.

"They are trapped souls. Forced into summoning contracts. They have emotions too. Like Jinchuriki's have emotions and the Inuzuka K-nins." She clutches his shirt tightly.

"People mourn Kagami, just give him time. Yusi's death wasn't and isn't your fault."

She nods into his shoulder, holding onto him still but leans back, placing a light kiss to his cheek before falling back into his hug. He smiles giddily into her hair, his face bright red and flushed.

Then he suddenly looks around frantically.

'If Dad pops up out of nowhere, I swear to Kami.'

"I have an update." The Jonin kneels in front of the Hokage, his comrades collected behind him.

"Continue," Tsunade looks down at him, Jiraiya rolling his eyes at her.

"I haven't been able to make and progress on who her chosen 'guardian' is, but she is very close to a Shikamaru Nara. He visits once a day, normally with one of his teammates. She is also very restless. She is losing patience."

"Hm, I have received the files from the Root." She pulls them up, "They are fake. But I assumed that would be the case."

A knock sounds at the door.

"Come in."

The door opens to reveal Genma standing there and looking extremely uncomfortable.

"We got her chakra test back." He shuffles in slowly, not liking his tasks one bit.

"Yes, what are the results?" Tsunade stands silently, adding to the nervousness in the room.

Kakashi looks up silently, hoping to Kami that she hasn't been hiding anything from them.

"Everything is normal," a collective of breath leaves the mouth of those in the room, "apart from the levels. She has random chakra spikes here and there. But they don't seem to appear at any specific time or for any reason."

Tsunade takes the paper off on him, glancing over the paper to conclude that he is telling the truth.

"Genma, you are close with Kagami correct?"

The man goes rigid, but nods to his superior anyway.

"Do you remember anything about her from when she was in the Root?"

The man sighs and nods, taking a seat next to Kakashi on an empty cushion.

"She was frequently injured, but Root members are told to stay out of the hospital, trying to keep themselves with the least amount of information anywhere." Tsunade narrows her eyes at him, picking up a pen and writing his words down on the file.

"Kagami used to appear in my lounge room randomly, with severe injuries. She couldn't take care of herself. I used to ask her who takes care of her and she would just shake her head and say 'Nii.'"

The room stays silent as the man speaks. Nobody has anything on the girl, no hard information or statistics. They only have stories and encounters with her.

"DId she have someone she was close to?" Tsunade could feel how close she was, close to cracking her own code.

But, Genma shakes his head, leaning back and relaxing a little.

"Danzo kept her close. Closer than anyone. She wasn't allowed out at night, couldn't have any relations outside of Root and had to report to him every few hours if she didn't have a mission. Kagami is probably his best asset. She would have to add an hour or two to her mission times to come see me and get patched up."

"And why is that?"

Genma's eyes suddenly widen, he snaps his head forward to the Hokage, his mouth opening a little and his thin senbon slips out.

"You don't know?" He sits up straight again, making eye contact with his now furious Hokage.

"I don't know what?"

Bodies stiffen around the room and the air becomes heavy.

"Hokage-sama, Kagami is a weapon." Genma stares at her, "She has spent every waking hour of her life being trained to kill without conviction. That's why when she was spotted on Nara land she was so severely punished. Danzo never told the Hokage about her, she was supposed to live out her life not knowing anything."

Kakashi looks over at the man, his eyes narrowing.

"I once was curious of what was going on in the Root, why an eight year old was running around. So I teleported in and read through files. There wasn't much, but Kagami wasn't supposed to know that she had any relation to anyone." He rubs his forehead a little.

"I asked her some questions after that, just little get-to-know-you questions. How's your family? What does your father do? How's your brother? I thought she would know something and that she just didn't care." Genma suddenly becomes sad, his eyes darkening, "She thought she was a creation. An experiment. No family, just a trial test for what's to come. She said that is what she was told when she asked about it. They were actively creating a blank canvas to create a killing machine."

"Tsunade-sama!" Shizune burst through the door, effectively scaring everyone in the room.

"What is it Shizune?"

The said woman is panting, her eyes wide with worry.

"There's been an accident at the hospital. Someone broke into a patient's room."

"Meeting dismissed." The woman stands up and follows her subordinate out of the building and to the hospital, confused as to why someone would break into a room and not into an office or file room. "Who's room?"

"I vacant room," She glances down, even more confused. "It's what they left behind that's alarming."

"Quickly Shizune."

The two hurry into the now frantic hospital and up to the said room. She is quick to notice that Kagami is standing in the doorway, starring at the walls of the room.

"The nurses say the room has been locked for over a month, no ones been in or out of it."

Tsunade pushes past Kagami, who is now holding onto Shikamaru's hand tightly and pulling him into the room.

The walls are filled, writing and photos covering almost every inch.

'She was just a kid, she didn't have a choice.'

Kagami's eyes widen at the familiar sentence. The S-rank criminal said that on his trial day. She analyses the pictures, noticing all of them have faces and people scratched out, all but hers.

"What is all this Kagami?" Tsunade stares down at the girl.

"I believe someone is after me," she whispers, pulling pictures off the wall and throwing them into the bin. "They are just trying to scare me."

But as she pulls more and more off the wall it shows large red writing under them. She tears off the photos, wondering what they could possibly be trying to tell them. Shikamaru stepps up and pulls more down, hoping to just get this over and done with as quickly as possible. Tsunade sighs and just rips them off all in one go, making the two teens sweat-drop.

The three step back and stare at the wall.

I've Found You, Assassin's Shadow.

Kagami's eyes widen and she smacks the wall with her palm, causing the plaster to crack and crumble. She curses and bangs on the wall.

'Where? Where did I slip up? Where did I miss someone?'

She sighs and rubs her head.

"Sand, no survivors. Mist, no witnesses. Rain, no leaks"

"Kagami who have you told of your identity?"

"The Root . . . The Root knows."

Tsunade sighs and and walks away, the ground cracking under her.

"I would seem that you are not the leak."

Kagami moves out of the hospital quickly, she is moved straight back home with very little people knowing. She is happy to be out of the hospital, but also upset about the reasoning.

Now, she is stuck at home instead.

"There will be no boys in this house!"

With her brother.

"If I find one Nara hair in this house I will Chidori him."

Kagami sweat-drops and shakes her head.

"If I find a Sasuke hair in here I will force him into seppuku."

"Something tells me you are looking forward to that."

"I am."

"Why?"

"Because they are annoying."

"What? Sasuke's?"

"No, Uchiha."

A bit of an odd chapter if I say so myself.
