[32] Cold

15:29, 25 September 2020

Saying Kagami is being cold could be considered a drastic understatement. Like change of historical events drastic. She was currently staying with the Nara's as it's too dangerous to move her around, and Kagami honestly doesn't know how to act. She has had something against Shikaku for a while now and nobody could tell what.

She hadn't told anyone, but the reason she had the large thick lines tattooed across her tongue was because of the one and only, Shikaku Nara, and he knew it. She couldn't move the first day she was here, she had to be hand fed by someone else, but she wasn't going to admit that so she let Yoshino leave a meal on the table next to her everyday and she would force herself to sit up and eat the meal.

It was good. Yoshino is good at cooking.

It's the second day that Kagami has been confined to her bed and she didn't like that, so technically it's the first day she's been out of bed. The reason, Kagami really had to go to the bathroom, an urge that can't be ignored for long.

Kagami realised that she was making quite a lot of noise while getting out of bed, she had knocked over her empty bowl on the first attempt, causing it and the spoon it came with to clatter along the floor.

When she bent over to pick it up she dropped the spoon again, once again making a loud clunk. She successfully got the spoon this time and placed the bowl back on the table before heading, very slowly, towards the door.

She opens it to find Yoshino standing there about to knock on her door. The woman looks down at her in surprise.

"Oh! Sorry! I just heard noise and came up to check on you." The lady smiles brightly. Kagami didn't know how to reply so she ended up just nodding and heading out before stopping.

"Yoshino-san?" The woman turns around. "Where is your bathroom?"

The lady chuckles, "It's just down the hall Kagami, next to Shikamaru's room."

"Thank you." Yoshino stares after the girl long after she turns back around, she thought Kagami to be a curious case.

Yoshino may be known as 'the wife and mother' of the smartest shinobi, but she was no idiot. This girl had a lot more on her plate than she was showing.

Kagami once again didn't know what to do. She decided to take a shower while in the bathroom and opted to put the clothes she was given by Yoshino back on as all she did was lay around all day. But, as Kagami was about to leave she heard movement in the room next to her.

She thought nothing of it at first but then remembered that Yoshino had told her it was Shikamaru's room, and that said boy had slowly moved from his room to stand outside the bathroom, obviously waiting for Kagami to come out so he could use it himself.

But Kagami here, for some reason, found this situation quite awkward and embarrassing. She didn't know Shikamaru that well, and she just used his shower without permission.

'Kagami just walk out of the bathroom.'

'Masaru. . . .'

'Kagami I'm warning you. Walk. Out. Of. The. Bathroom.'

'I'm going,'

Kagami walks to the door and opens it. She nods silently to Shikamaru and is about to walk past him when he grabs her arm.

'Oh how the tables have turned,'

'Not the time Masaru,'

'Yes ma'am. . . . . . . Oh no the tables have turned back.'

"Yes?" Kagami looks at the boy.

He smiles weakly, "You can borrow some of my clothes if you like, you don't have to wear the same ones all week."

Kagami stares at the boy.

'What an interesting boy. . . .'

'Yua.'

'No Kagami, I'm stuck here with you so let me speak my mind.'

' . . . . .'

'The tables have once again turned.'

Kagami comes back to reality and nods slowly at the boy. He lets go of her arm and turns back to his room, she quietly follows him, her tiredness getting the best of her. A trip to the bathroom is quite exhausting.

He pulls out a long sleeved shirt and some loose pants and hands them to her. "I never wear these, you're supposed to wrap up your ankles and wrist with them and I can't be bothered. It's troublesome."

Kagami almost chuckles at this but keeps it to herself. She grabs the clothes lightly and focuses on staying awake.

"Thank you, I'm going back to bed." Kagami bows slightly at Shikamaru and leaves without another word.

"No problem. . . . ?"

Kagami retreats to her room to put the clothes on. She is very grateful for what the Nara family are doing for her, she just doesn't know how to express that gratitude.

She unfolds the shirt and pulls it up to look at it. The shirt itself was going to be a little big for her, but what caught her eye was the large Nara Clan symbol stitched into the back. She unfolded the pants, which were also a little big for herself but sure enough, a little Nara symbol was stitched into the side of the right leg.

She was never one for wearing clan symbols, for one the Hatake Clan doesn't make their own clan clothing, particularly since there are only two Hatake's left. The other reason is well, . . . Kagami always wondered what made it so easy for the Uchiha clan to be wiped out, and branding your symbol on yourself was a bit of a giveaway.

Kagami sighs, "I'm not leaving the house. So it's fine."

Yoshino came up to ask if Kagami wanted to join them for dinner that night. Kagami declined the offer. She didn't want to intrude.

'I also have a burning hatred for your husband.' Though she didn't say this, it is a standing reason in Kagami's eyes.

Kagami sits on the bed quietly, she can hear the three eating dinner and doesn't want to make noise to distract them. Also, she is eavesdropping.

"She's being very quiet in my opinion."

"That's her personality, Mum."

"I never said it wasn't, I'm just saying she's quiet."

"There's nothing wrong with that Yoshino, Shikamaru you should look less into things."

"Troublesome."

There was silence for a moment.

"Shikaku you do know what being a Nara means right?"

"Yes Yoshino I just realised."

Suddenly there was laughter, it echoed throughout the house.

'Hmph, nothing interesting.'

Kagami stands up and walks to the cupboard, she hadn't checked it yet, a little sloppy to be honest. There could be anything in there. She opens in slowly, checking if the door has any creaks to it, none. She peers inside, it had a few jumpers in it, probably for when it gets colder and snows.

She sighs, 'you'd think they would have some books in here.'

Kakashi sighs as he walks towards the Nara household, he had spent all day training Sasuke and to be honest, he was getting bored of him.

Kakashi glances around as he strolls. There are Anbu watching the Nara house, but not too many. Nothing Kakashi and Kagami couldn't handle if it came down to it.

For some reason, Kakashi was now unsure of his sister, he didn't know what this new event would lead to. Kakashi was one to know about how unpredictable she is, her emotions are a little erratic, a result of being within a emotionless pot for years. Something he struggled with himself for many years.

One thing Kakashi knew for sure, was that Kagami is hiding something. He just doesn't know what. There is that man that claimed to know her from before she entered the village. This pulls Kakashi down a rabbit hole of his own thoughts.

'Apart from the time I have known her, I know nothing about her. Even if she was in the village, Danzo has kept her and her files a heavily guarded secret.'

Kakashi wants to know who she is. He had no doubt that she was his sister, I mean the resemblance is impeccable, anybody could tell you that. He didn't need proof of that, but he didn't know who she really was.

[wow this chapter is really deep]

He was going to find out.

Kakashi looks up to find himself at the Nara household's front door. He knocked gently, not knowing who was awake and who was not, it was already dark out.

"Shikaku there is someone at the door!" Yoshino's loud bellow could be clearly heard from the street.

Kakashi sweat drops slightly, only just realising what he has left his sister to.

"Shikamaru, get the door! I think your fathers hiding again!" Kakashi almost laughed at this, but opted for a smile.

"I'm going, troublesome woman." Shikamaru opens the door and looks up at his sensei. "Oh Kakashi-sensei, come in."

He steps to the side and Kakashi walks in, slipping his shoes off at the door. Yoshino's head pops up from around the corner.

"Oh! Kakashi! Good to see you! Come in, come in! Your sister is up stairs, it's been quiet for a few hours." The woman lowers her voice to a whisper, "I don't know if she went to sleep or she's just silently wandering up there. She's a very quiet girl."

Kakashi chuckles at this, rubbing the back of his neck. Yoshino seems to have Kagami down pat and it's only been two days.

"Shikamaru, why don't you take Kakashi up stairs."

"Yeah, c'mon." He mutters something along the lines of it being a lot of effort as they head through the house. "She's supposed to still be bed ridden, but she got up this morning and walked around a little. But it's taking a strain on her, she's tired all the time."

Kakashi picked up on the fact that he wasn't guessing or wondering, he knew. It was a bland statement, spoken like a true Nara.

"She's this one," Shikamaru points to a door, "I'm three down if you need me." With that he wanders off to his own room.

Kakashi sighs and knocks lightly on the door and walks in. He closes it behind him before saying anything to his sister.

Kagami was obviously asleep, lightly, but still asleep. Kakashi sits down on the end of her bed, hoping to wake her but also hoping she stays asleep. He had missed her these past few days. Her rude comments and sarcastic replies.

He would never admit it, but he felt a little cold without her.

Kinda depressing, but you know what, we need character development so suck it up. Plus this is a double update.
