[30] Recoil

Kagami has been silent. As if she has been placed back in Root. After her bonding moment with her brother, she was sent on a mission assigned by Danzo under the name the Assassins Shadow. A secret mission, it was to be done quickly and correctly, no one is to know. Kagami new things were done quickly in the Riot, but to make sure no one noticed she'd have to be quicker than ever before.

She was to go out and survey the positions of the currently moving Akatsuki members. She was to not engage with them, but to only find them, mark out their path and to hopefully figure out where their destination was. 

The mission went smoothly, what didn't go smoothly was making it back without being noticed. You see, her brother was waiting for her. It was his day off from training his student, and he hadn't seen his sister once the entire day. It was stretching on 11 in the morning, and Kakashi knows all too well that his sister gets up bright and early to do whatever she pleases. 

What shocked Kakashi was when Kagami came out of her room when he had been fully anticipating catching her coming through the front door. 

'She's hiding something' was the man's immediate thought. He glanced up at his sister from his book, noticing she was back in the clothes that he first knew her in. All black. 

She has become very quiet and only speaks to critically insult someone, just like old times some people would say. The Chunin exams were fast approaching and the girl knew she would ace through whoever she had to fight, but she was not sure on which the circumstances she had to fight, and that's what perplexed her. 

People have stopped talking to her as she has shown an obvious cold shoulder to those around her. When people were close to her they became unsure, they began to have the same feeling from when they first met the girl. Hostile.

"Where have you been?" Kakashi has always been straight to the point with his sister, and today was no exception. Kagami glances coldly at her brother. 

"Where I decide to go doesn't concern you." Kakashi narrows his eyes at the girl.

"As your legal guardian it is very much my concern." Kakashi stands up and looks down at the girl.

"I can't tell you." Kagami walks past the man and sits at the table getting ready to eat. Kakashi grabs the bowl of food he prepared and holds it away from the girl. 

"Where were you?" Kakashi looks down coldly, "tell me or you don't get to eat." 

Kagami rolls her eyes. 'God my brother just doesn't use his brain sometimes.' Kagami looks up at her brother and pulls her mask down. 

His eyes and he goes to turn away but ends up standing stock still when he sees she has stuck out her tongue. On her tongue are thick black lines. Looking as if they had been there for years. She pulls her tongue back in and pulls her mask up. 

"I can't tell you." Kakashi hands her the bowl of food and sits down across from her at the table. He wants answers now, not caring if it pushes boundaries with his sister.

"Who?" 

Kagami puts her chopsticks down with a huff, looking up at her brother as if he was dumb. "You know damn well I can't say anyth—" 

Kakashi cuts her off. "Masaru, what can he tell me?" 

Kagami's eyes widen and she quickly bites down on her thumb, summoning her friend. 

"Kagami! You do love me!" Masaru stares between the two siblings before sitting down and taking in the intense atmosphere at the table. He immediately sits down and looks back and forth between the two. "So. . . . ," 

"Masaru," Kakashi looks at the wolf seriously, "iell me what Kagami can't." 

Masaru sighs heavily and scoots closer towards the siblings. "Kagami, are you sure this is wise?" He looks at his contractor with worried eyes. She simply nods and looks back towards her brother. The wolf follows suit and turns towards the man. He glances back at Kagami once more before looking back.

"Where is Kakashi-sensei? I know he trains with Sasuke but he's off training by himself." Sakura looks around for her sensei diligently, but still not spotting his signature silver blob. She has been waiting for him for an hour. Kakashi had told her to meet him for some reason. She doesn't really know why, but she came along anyway. 

She sighs and gets ready to leave when she spots Kagami walking along towards her. Sakura quickly runs over to the girl. 

"Kagami!" The said girl turns towards her, a stony look in her eyes. Sakura recoils slightly but keeps moving towards her anyway. "Have you seen Kakashi-sensei? He was supposed to meet me an hour ago." 

Kagami stares down at the girl, she shakes her head and keeps on walking. 

"Kagami . . . . ." Sakura trails off, staring at the girls back. 

'What is up with her?' Sakura shakes her head and then smacks her fist into her palm. 'I'll figure this out.' 

Sakura quickly beelines towards the training grounds where most genin train.

"Why'd you lie?" Kagami glances over at Shikamaru as she walks, she practically blanks him and continues on her way. 

She doesn't have a particular destination but she doesn't want to be around Kakashi while he hears about her life. She finds it creepy and unnatural. She stares stonily ahead as she walks, giving off an eerie vibe towards those around her. She was hoping that it would stop anyone from talking to her, but of course it didn't and the one person that spoke to her, had to be the Nara. 

"This is troublesome." Shikamaru scratches his head and sighs. "Kagami, stop ignoring me." He walks up along side to the girl and stares blatantly at her as they walk. 

As they make it out of the inner village and towards the less populated areas Kagami slows to a stop and looks back at the boy. 

"What do you want, Nara?" She stares dead straight into his eyes, making him mentally recoil, but he stands his ground and stares back. 

"Why did you lie to Sakura? You know exactly where your brother is, you were just with him." Shikamaru starts to sweat slightly under her hard gaze. 

"Kakashi is busy. It's not my fault if he double booked." She turns away and keeps on walking towards the outer village. 

Shikamaru sweat drops and shakes his head, he walks after her, once and again meeting her strides. Kagami grows slightly irritated with the boy, but her face stays stony and still. 

"Kagami, it would mean a lot to me if you could just train me once or twice. My dad mentions you are good with the Nar—"

"Nara, I don't know if you are really thick or choosing to ignore the signs. I. Don't. Want. To. Train. You." She stares stonily at him as she comes to a halt. "Did your father also tell you that I despise Nara's? Or did he just want to hav—" 

Kagami comes to a stop. 'This was planned, they wanted me to get angry. Shikaku planned this to get information out of me. The bastard.'

Kagami scans around her surroundings, noticing four chakras hanging in trees. She was so annoyed with the boy she didn't notice them. Ino, Choji, Asuma and Shikaku. 

Kagami smirks slightly, "Nara, why don't you get your sensei to teach you? Since he is right here anyway?" 

Shikamaru freezes up as Kagami pulls out multiple kunai and flings them into the bush. Ino and Choji fall out into the open, while the two adults slowly walk out into the vision of the two having a stare off.

"Now, Nara. Why don't you go back to Moron," Ino's eyes go wide, she thought the nickname was long gone, "Fatty," Everyone winces a the name but Choji didn't move, he had seen what the girl can do and was not going to even try. "Hokage-sama's son," Asuma turns his head away, knowing the girl is just trying to jab at them, to get them to leave her alone. "And your extremely poor excuse of a fath—!" 

Kakashi had appeared out of nowhere, his had placed firmly on the girl's mouth. 

"Now, now Kagami, lets not go around insulting people. I thought those days were over?" Kakashi spoke steadily and calmly. But everyone could notice the rage burning in his eyes, he was angry and you don't get to see Kakashi angry that often. "How about, we get you back home and we can figure this ou—" 

Kagami had brought her leg right up and kick the man in the stomach, sending him backwards, making him leave skid marks in the ground. 

"I trusted you with the secret, and this is how you treat me? After telling you about everything?" She glares burningly at her brother, who silently stares back, "after I told you about ho—"

Kagami stops short and chokes on something, her eyes go wide and her hands reach up to her neck, locking on tightly. She looks around, searching for something, but not finding anything. Her hands start to squeeze tightly on her neck. Kakashi's eyes go wide and he rushes over to his sister. He grips onto her arms and tries to unlatch them from her neck. 

Asuma's eyes widen as he realises what's going on. Shikaku had already grabbed the girl's other arm and started to pull on it. 

"You three, get the Hokage, now. Don't say anything just get him to come." He sends off his students as he tightly grips Kagami's head, making it easier for Kakashi. 

As Kakashi pulls her hands from her neck, Shikaku pulls out chakra cuffs from his pouch, perks of being a friend of the interrogation unit. He locks her hands behind her back and hangs onto her as she falls backwards, Her arms struggling for release. 

"Kagami," Kakashi holds her head and looks at her. He pulls down the edge of her mask to see black lines dancing across her skin. "Kagami, look at me." The girl struggles to focus on the man as her eyes shoot around the place. Sweat pours from her face as she continues to struggle, her body being placed on the ground now. 

"Kagami, tonight, we will have chicken soup with noodles and vegetables. Your favourite right?" She tries to nod but her body keeps jerking around. "Masaru will try to steal your dinner and then Yusi will attack him. Then we will have to break it up and eat dinner in the lounge room away from them." Kagami's body starts to slow down as her mind gets distracted. 

Pounding footsteps approach the group. Kakashi doesn't take his eyes away from his sisters, trying to keep her under control. He was genuinely scared for her life. Dust picks up around them as those who approach skid to a stop in front of the group. Heavy panting ensues, Asuma opens his mouth to speak to his father,  he is greeted with the face he least wanted to see at the moment. 

"The Hokage is out talking to Sunagakure officials so we got this guy to help." Ino points at the wrinkled face of the man. Shikaku looks up and his eyes widen considerably. His mind races as he tries to think of a solution while glaring heavily at his son.

Shikmaru gives him a worriedbhalf smile back, knowing he has fucked up.

"I think we should take her to the interrogation unit, they have plenty of supplies from over-torturing invalids." He says calmly to the man. 

Danzo scoffs, "I disagree, the Root base is much closer and has much more than the interrogation unit. Plus, Kagami was one of my own once, we will greet her with care."

Kagami's eyes trail over to the man and the black marks become more aggressive. Her body trashes aggressively against its restraints. 

Kakashi stiffens considerably at the voice of the man, Danzo notices. "Hm? So were you Kakashi, even more reason to quickly move her to our base." 

The man opens his mouth when a door to one of the few houses around them slams open. 

"SHIKAKU! WHAT HAVE I SAID ABOU—oh dear what's happened?" Yoshino Nara comes running down the steps, her apron whipping around in the wind. 

As soon as the woman gets one look at the girl, she sighs. "This girl again, bring her into the house."
