Chapter 10

KATNISS' POV

I run as fast as humanly possible down the halls, Peeta and Bare are gone, I'm not losing Oakley too

As I dash down the hall, she screams again

"Oakley!" I'm almost there, feeling like i'm defying the laws of gravity

I get to my door and swing it open so hard that the handle gets lodged in the wall

"Oakley!" I scream in horror when I see my baby boy, eyes closed, shaking

"Mom what happened?!"

"We were just sitting here and he started seizing" she said worriedly

"Well bring him to the medical wing!" I say through heavy tears, this the last thing I need right now- the last part of my little family, as lost as the others are

"I can't, not until he's stopped seizing, it's going to hurt him since he's so small" my mom speaks calmly, she's obviously done this a million times, but seeing here calm about this, makes something inside me snap

"How could you be so calm?!" I yell, by now I've probably disturbed half the mansion with my screams, I thought my mom would talk some sense into me, but instead she stood up

"Haymitch!" She yelled, looking over at me, I was shocked! She's calling Haymitch on me?!

He walks in, my mom nods towards me and suddenly it makes sense, but to him first

He grabs my waist and pulls me out of the room, I start thrashing

"You can't!" I scream

"Oakley!"

"It's okay sweetheart, let's bring you to the medical wing, maybe get you some morphling" he says trying to pull my arms back

"No!" I yell, digging my nails into his skin, as a neguric response, he releases his grip

I take off in the other direction, and hide until I am sure he is gone, but instead of going to find Oakley, I fall asleep

"Katniss" I wake up to someone stroking my hair

"Peeta?!" I ask hopefully, I'm sorrowfully awaken to Gale

He shakes his head slightly

"You have your mother and Haymitch worried sick, you know that" of course I know! But I don't care about that right now, so I just shake my head in confirmation

"Come on, they are waiting for you in the medical wing, I promised I'd find you"

"How long have I been in here"

"About an hour"

"You found me in an hour?"

"Actually I found you in 15 minutes, haymitch gave up after a while and asked me to look"

"But.... how?"

"Because I know you Katniss, that never changed"

I take a deep breath and let him hug me, but I won't hug back because it's too much like Peeta

"Ok let's go" he says, helping me up

"Haymitch i'm so sorry" I say, accepting his embrace

"It's fine, sweetheart, I've gotten worse scars from you and Peeta than that" my face immediately darkens with sorrow

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to mention...."

But I shake my head

"It's okay" I say

"He's alive, and I'm going to find him"
