You stand to the side, watching anxiously as the doctors and nurses work to get Jenna settled and comfortable. The room is a flurry of activity, but your focus remains solely on Jenna, watching her every move and expression. You can see how tired and scared Jenna is, but you do your best to keep a brave face for her. A nurse approaches you, noticing the worried expression on your face.

Nurse: "Are you the mother's partner?"

Y/n: "Yes, I'm her fiancée"

Nurse: "Alright, we've already checked her cervix, she's 5 centimeters dilated and the contractions are coming more frequently now, which is a good sign, we're going to set her up for an epidural, which should help manage her pain"

Your eyes widen at the term 'epidural', your mind racing with worry. You had heard about them before, but the thought of something being injected into Jenna's spine was still a bit terrifying.

Y/n: "Is it safe? Will she be okay?"

Nurse: "Yes, don't worry epidurals are very safe and a common practice during labor, it's just a local anesthetic that will numb the pain in her lower back and abdominal area, it won't affect the baby in any way"

The nurses quickly begin setting up for the epidural. You nod, still feeling a little uneasy but slightly comforted by the nurse's words. You turn your attention back to Jenna, who is still in the middle of a painful contraction.

Y/n: "It's going to be okay, love you're doing great and soon, the pain will be better, I promise"

Jenna nods weakly, gripping your hand tightly as the contraction abates. She looks up at you, her expression a mix of pain and exhaustion. You gently brush a stray lock of hair out of her face.

Y/n: "Just hang in there, love the epidural will help soon"

Jenna nods again, her breathing ragged and labored. She takes a few moments to regain her composure before another contraction hits her. This one is even stronger than the last, making her cry out in pain.

You wince, feeling a sense of helplessness as you watched her suffer through the pain. You can't help but feel guilty and responsible, even though you knew deep down that there's nothing you could have done differently. You rub Jenna's back gently, trying to soothe her any way you can. A nurse approaches again, holding a syringe in her hand.

Nurse: "Alright, we're going to go ahead with the epidural now, I'm going to numb the area a bit first, you might feel a pinch"

Jenna nods weakly, still recovering from the last contraction. You watch nervously as the nurse positions the needle, your stomach churning with worry. The nurse administers the local anesthetic, making Jenna wince slightly. The area is numbed, and the nurse then begins to carefully insert the epidural needle into her spine. You squeeze Jenna's hand, trying to offer some comfort despite the anxiety welling up inside you.

Jenna winces again as the epidural needle is inserted, but the pain is quickly numbed as the anesthetic takes effect. A few moments later, the nurse slowly withdraws the needle and tapes a small dressing over the site.

Nurse: "All done you should start feeling the effects soon, try to relax as much as you can, the contractions should be more bearable now"

Jenna nods, her expression a little more relaxed now that the pain is being managed. She looks at you, gratitude and relief in her eyes. You smiles back, feeling a small sense of relief yourself.

Y/n: "How are you feeling, love? Is the pain better now?"

Jenna: "Yeah, it's definitely better, the pain is still there, but it's manageable now thanks for being here, baby"

Y/n: "Of course, love I wouldn't be anywhere else, I'm here for you, every step of the way" ....... A few hours have passed since the epidural was administered. Jenna is now fully dilated, and it's time for her to begin pushing. The nurses and doctors prepare the room for delivery, moving equipment and positioning Jenna on the bed. You stand to the side once again, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness.

Doctor: "Alright, mom we're going to start pushing now, when we tell you to, take a deep breath and push as hard as you can, we'll count to ten and then you can breathe out and rest for a moment"

Jenna nods, taking in a deep breath and pushing as hard as she can. A nurse counts to ten, guiding her through the contraction. Jenna's face is contorted with effort, her hand gripping yours tightly.

Nurse: "Good job! That was a great push, mom rest now and we'll do it again with the next contraction"

Jenna nods again, taking a few moments to catch her breath before another contraction hits. She grits her teeth and begins pushing once more, sweat dripping down her face from the exertion.

Y/n: "You got this love, you're doing great"

Jenna nods, her eyes filled with determination as she pushes again and again. The room is filled with the sound of her labored breathing and the occasional grunt of pain. The doctors and nurses are offering words of encouragement, telling her she's doing great and almost there.

Doctor: "We can see the head, you're almost there, mom just a few more pushes and you'll meet your little one"

Y/n: "You heard that love, our baby is almost here"

Jenna nods weakly, her body exhausted but determined. She takes a moment to catch her breath before pushing again, grunting and straining with all her might. The room is filled with tense anticipation, everyone watching closely as the baby slowly begins to emerge.

Doctor: "The head is out, one more big push and the body will follow"

Jenna takes another deep breath and bears down, giving one last powerful push. There's a moment of tense silence before a high-pitched cry fills the room, the sound of a newborn baby. The doctor and nurses quickly begin to work on the baby as Jenna collapses back onto the bed, breathless but victorious.

Y/n: "You hear that love, that's our baby boy, you did it I'm so proud of you"

Jenna nods weakly, tears streaming down her face as she listens to the sound of her baby's cries. She looks at you, exhaustion etched on her face but a small smile playing at the corners of her mouth.

Jenna: "We did it, Y/n we have a baby"

You smile back at her, tears in your eyes as you gaze at the new life you have both created. You lean over and press a soft kiss to Jenna's forehead, your heart overflowing with love and gratitude.

Y/n: "Yes, love, we did it"

The nurse carefully hands the baby over to Jenna, swaddled in a soft blanket. Jenna takes him into her arms, her expression filled with awe and wonder. He's a little scrunched up and red, but to her, he's perfect.

Jenna: "He's beautiful"

You nod; your eyes fixed on the baby in Jenna's arms. She gently strokes his tiny cheek, unable to believe that this little miracle is now a part of your lives forever.

Y/n: "He's perfect, just like you"

Jenna looks up at Y/n, tears still streaming down her face. She leans in and nuzzles the baby's head, smelling his unique newborn scent.

Jenna: "I love him so much already"

You smile, feeling a mix of emotions as you watch Jenna with the baby. You can barely even believe that this is real, that you have both created something so amazing together.

Y/n: "I love you both so much"

Jenna looks up at you, her expression filled with love and gratitude. She stretches her free arm out, inviting you to move closer.

Jenna: "Come here, love I want you to hold him too"

You quickly move to Jenna's side, carefully taking the baby into your arms. He feels so small and fragile, and you're a little nervous at first. But as soon as you feel his tiny weight in your arms, your heart fills with a protectiveness and love you've never felt before.

Y/n: "He's so perfect, I can't believe we made him"

Jenna: "He is, isn't he? And he has your nose"

Y/n: "Yeah, he does and your mouth, he's the perfect mix of both of us"

Jenna: "We make beautiful babies, maybe someday we'll have a few more"

Y/n: "One thing at a time, love let's enjoy this little one for now but yeah, there will definitely be more someday"

Jenna smiles, shifting a little in the bed to get more comfortable. She's tired, but her eyes are glued to the baby in your arms.

Jenna: "What should we name him?"

Y/n: "Right a name, I knew we were missing something"

Jenna: "Well, we can't call him 'Baby' forever, can we?"

Y/n: "I guess not"

Jenna nods, her mind buzzing with possibilities. She looks at the baby, studying his face and trying to find some inspiration for a name but fails to.

Jenna: "Got any ideas, love?"

Y/n: "How about Luke L/n Ortega?"

Jenna: "Luke L/n Ortega, that has a nice ring to it I like it"

Y/n: "Then it's settled, welcome to the world, Luke L/n Ortega"
