naruto pov

we went home failures and swore to keep trying tens hadn't said a word to us and shisui had healed everyone with the small amounts of medical ninjutsu he knew.

back at the village I allowed shisui and itachi to debrief the hokage as they had asked and went home to sleep for the night. not noticing the genjutsu both shisui and itachi had placed me under.

itachi pov

tonights the night, i could feel this horrible twisting feeling in my gut making me feel disgusted for what i was going to do, i'm not sure i could have gone along with it if shisui-kun didn't choose to help me.

after debriefing the hokage and triple checking the genjutsu naru-san was under i made my way to danzo as weasel along with bear.

we both steeled ourselves for what we had to do, all for sasuke.

pocketing the note i had written i kneeled for my final orders. "weasel, bear, go ... destroy the uchiha clan and join the akatsuki the life of this village depends on the information you can gather and the destruction of the uchiha clan." he ordered in his gruff voice leaving no room for denial or failure. nodding we left.

running across the roof tops we both used chakra to make sure sasuke wasn't in the clan compound and went to work.

naruto pov

I woke up to a sense of foreboding, this coupled with the fact that I couldn't feel itachi or shisui's chakra sent me into a frenzy.

it took me seconds to be ready and in my naru genjustu, flying across the roof tops i came to the clan compound where i saw mass destruction.

i froze my heart pounding as I took in the sights everyone, all of them dead.

my anger and sadness rose within me until in a rage i screamed to the sky at the unfairness of it all.

and suddenly, my senses picked up a faint chakra source, rising to my feet i raced toward it hoping it wasn't too late.

only to see the crumpled form of sasuke, sliding to my knees next to him I held him close glad someone had survived.

on his shirt was a note pinned on, taking it off i read it to myself through the tears in my eyes.

dear naru-san ( our Otōto in all but blood )

We are So sorry for this, but it had to be done we are both fine and alive however we are currently attempting to infiltrate the akatsuki on danzo's orders

the whole clan was killed by us, we did it on the orders of danzo in an attempt to stop a civil war which the clan was going to cause.

we love you and sasuke and also the village however right now our priorities lay in the village utmost.

we won't be able to come back lest we are killed or incarcerated, in the sealing scroll on the back of this note are fugaku san my fathers sharingan.

i left them there incase sasuke managed to get the eternal mangyeko sharingan in which case he will need them lest he go blind.

we are leaving you with a task which we both hope you take to heart, please look after sasuke and keep an eye on him.

after tonight he may want to kill us, i ask that you don't get involved and let him decide for himself

he needs someone to be there for him. we will be sending you a summons soon after all the activity had died down and we can use it to keep in contact.

please don't tell sasuke unless he wants to talk with us.

reading and rereading the letter over and over again didn't fix anything or make it say anything else. carefully i rolled up the note and sealing scroll and placed them in my belt.

turning to sasuke i gently picked him up and carried him to the leafs hospital where I left him in the care of the nurse.

taking off to the hokage's office I asked him for a solo mission I could do and he gave me a scroll for an S ranked mission.

reading it i accepted and took off out of the leaf village in order to vent some anger on the poor unsuspecting victim of an assassination order.

hey guys you probably hate me for this but the truth is it was supposed to happen ages ago but i kept skirting around the issue.

any thoughts? issues with this?

i know its short but i really hated what i had to do so i kept it short and to the point
