Part Twenty Four

02:26, 10 June 2012

"Where have you been all night?" He asked, an anger quickly building in his eyes.

"At Nathan's"

"Oh.Well that's fine then. Not like i was worried or anything" He grimaced, running his hand over his head.

"Sorry" I mumbled and got up, suddenly realising i was hungry.

He followed me and sat down on the sofa.

I pulled out a bowl, some cereal and milk and made myself what would surely be the best meal i'd had in days.

"What was the note about?" He asked.

"Nathan told me that you and him hadn't spoken. So why did you tell me you had?"

"Because i wanted you two to stay friends"

"You're going to work with him every day for however long, surely you need to get along with him more than i do?"

"We will make up soon enough, i'm still annoyed though"

"Has he apologised?"

"Yeah"

"Then forgive him."

I sat at the dining room table and ate my cereal, intent on ignoring whatever he wanted to say to me. I blocked it out for long enough and he got the idea. I could hear the faint tapping of his fingers flying across the keypad on his phone and then the dial tone.

"He's not answering"

"Keep trying"

"You try him. He's probably ignoring my calls where he won't with you"

"Fine"

I scrolled through my contacts to find him then pressed the dial button. He picked up almost immediately;

"Well hello gorgeous, want me already? That was quick." He laughed to himself.

"Max wants to talk to you" I replied, disregarding his comment and handing the phone over to Max. He hesitated before  snatching it out of my hands.

"Alright mate?"

Unfortunately for me, i could only hear Max's half of the conversation and i was supposed to be acting like i didn't care. It seemed they'd made up as only two minutes later they were saying their goodbyes and Max was hanging up;

"Happy?"

"Very"

The next few days rolled by in a blur of boredom. I didn't want to see Nathan because he was hard to resist and Max was out doing band stuff so i was left alone with the occasional visit from Michelle.

I was dozing on my bed when there was a knock at the door, i woke up slowly and made my way over and peered through the eye hole to see Nathan looking a bit agitated. I observed my own get-up. In my t-shirt and shorts pajama combination, fluffly slippers and his hoodie i wasn't quite in the mood to see someone who drove me mad - in the best way possible.

"Es, let me in" He boomed, knocking on the door impatiently.

"No" I replied simply.

"Why?"

"I look like crap"

"I don't care! Let me in or i'll let myself in"

"How are you going to do that genius?" I smirked, feeling over confidently safe behind the thick wooden door.

"A key. Max gave it to me"

I paused before slowly opening the door and letting him in.

"Hiya" He grinned.

"Why are you here?"

"To see you."

"What about Max?"

"Out at lunch with Michelle."

"Oh"

He kicked the door shut behind him and forced his lips to mine passionately.

"I'm not really in the mood Nath"

"We can fix that" He mumbled, moving his lips down my jawline to my neck.

"Nathan" I whispered

"Mhm" He replied, locking his fingers with mine and pushing my arms above my head. He was in control and he knew it.

"Slow" I mumbled, letting him take over.

He nodded and moved us back into Max's room. I pulled away in protest and took him to the spare room. He quickly got to work, pushing us back onto the bed and pulling his top off to reveal his lightly tanned torso.

I could hear two sets of footsteps coming along the tiled floor on the hallway outside the flat. I disregarded them  thinking it would be a neighbour and continued to kiss Nathan.

My fingers dug into his back as his hand fumbled around my back, searching for the hooks of my bra. He unclipped it expertley and shifted back on to his knees. The footsteps had gone now and my eyes were locked on Nathan's as he slowly bit his lip.

"You ready?" He asked.

I replied by pulling him down to kiss me again. He pushed his legs between mine and moved across to nibble the top of my ear slowly before moving down to the freckle and kissing it.

Footsteps again. He undid his jeans and shifted them down, ready to kick them off. They were getting louder.  I wound my fingers through the short hairs at the base of his head. Suddenly the footsteps stopped and the sound of muffled voices could be heard.

"Shit" He jumped up and searched for his top whilst fumbling with his jeans. I did my bra up, scrambling to hook it up.

"Quick" He moved over to me and did up my bra while i shakily did his jeans button and belt.

"Shirt" I pointed at the floor where it had been kicked under the bed slightly.

The front door opened just as we came out of the spare room and managed to jump on the sofa.

"Alright you two?" Max smiled, heading straight for the fridge.

"Mhm, i was just waiting for you to get home, needed to ask you something" Nathan rushed.

"Shoot" Max reappeared with a beer bottle in hand.

Michelle appeared, weighed down with shopping bags. She looked beautiful with her hair loose and a simple maxi dress on. She looked over at Nathan and then me, taking in my flushed expression and messy hair. I could tell in an instant that she knew but shot her a hopeful look, begging her not to say anything.

"Is the magazine shoot tomorrow?" Nathan asked innocently.

"Day after"

"Okay"

"You came all this way to ask that?" Max laughed.

"Mhm. I'll be off then" He got up quickly and almost ran out. I followed him, making a lame excuse about leaving something at his flat.

"Nathan" I hissed, catching up with him half way down the street.

"What?"

"Don't i get a goodbye?" I pouted.

"Sorry, of course. That was just a bit manic" He nodded, taking a deep breath.

"Good" I stepped closer and kissed him goodbye, allowing myself one long last hug before turning back to Max's.

I glanced up to see Michelle at the window, her face twisted in concern, i shook it off and walked inside, then taking the stairs two at a time.
