Part Five

00:22, 5 July 2013

The sheets clung to me and i thrashed about, eventually waking myself up. I looked over at Nathan, he was lay on his side with his back to me and appeared to still be asleep. I reached over for my phone to check the time; 8:03. It suddenly buzzed in my hand angrily, letting me know that it was on low battery.

I had no texts as usual, why would i? Amy didn't even know i had a phone. I'd saved up for it for months. If she'd even got the slightest hint of the idea that i might have something she didn't think i deserved she'd take it off me and keep it for herself. For example; my laptop, camera and some merchandise that the boys had signed (She thought i'd sell it and gain enough money to run away from her).

Walking over to the bathroom with shaking legs from not waking up properly i leaned against the wall for support and then ducked my head under the tap, taking three long gulps of the cold water. I wiped away the excess around my mouth with a towel and then flicked through my pictures on my phone. A few of me and my friends, one of Amy scowling at something in the distance which i deleted and a few other of some random things such as pretty flowers or the lake near my house. Amy's house. Not mine. As far as i was concerned, i didn't want to see that house again. I pulled on my jeans and a t-shirt from my bag and then went back to the main room.

Nathan stirred slightly and rolled onto his back, throwing his arm up above his head before continuing to snore softly. I perched on the end of the bed, flicked on the TV and put it on low volume while i waited for him to wake up. It was another 2 hours before he stirred. I say stirred but he actually rolled over and fell out of the bed.

"Alright?" I asked slowly.

"Yeah i'm great thanks" He smiled back sarcastically, squinting at me through his sleepy eyes.

"Good"

"How long have you been up?"

"Since 8"

"Oh, sorry"

"It's okay, you needed sleep, especially after i woke you up last night"

"I'll go have a shower then"

"Okay, don't be too long, they stop serving breakfast at 11:30"

"Okay" He stumbled towards the door of the bathroom and locked behind him.

He kept his word and was only half an hour in the shower and took another 10 minutes to brush his teeth and sort out his hair, which he blow dried and hid under a hat.

"We'll get breakfast and go straight to the train station, is that alright with you?" He asked.

"Yeah sure, whatever is easiest."

"Okay, pack up your stuff and we'll go"

I did so, as quickly as i could while he fiddled with his hair and put his stuff in his own bag that he'd originally had packed to stay at Amy's house for a few days.

We then had breakfast and got in a taxi to the station. A girl started screaming behind us causing us both to turn and look, turned out it was a fan and as soon as she spotted him, numerous other people swarmed him, all asking for hugs and for him to sign something.

It didn't bother me, i just sat on the bench and had a rest for a minute. He looked over once or twice, trying to smile apologetically.

"Nathan, i'm going to ask about tickets, i'll meet you by the stand when you're done here?" I asked him, having to push past a few of the girls even though they were the same age as me.

"Alright" He nodded, not looking up from a piece of paper he was signing and then putting his arm around a girl for a photo.

"Bye girls, don't kill him, we have a train to catch" I smiled and the majority laughed with the rest throwing me a dirty look or too busy swooning over Nathan to notice i'd even spoke.

The next train available from Gloucester to London was at 1:30 and seeing as it was 1:05 Nathan needed to hurry up. I didn't have any money on me to buy tickets either so it was all down to him. Luckily for me, i saw him coming down the escalators 10 minutes later, granted, he was being followed by a crowd of girls but as long he was coming.

"There's a train in 15 minutes." I told him as he approached me.

"Okay"

"I don't have any money" I hinted.

"Oh, yeah sorry" He swung his bag off his back and unzipped it to pull out his wallet.

"Nathan it's in your pocket, you got it out to pay the taxi driver, remember?"

"I remember now. Sorry just a bit tired." He nodded and did his bag back up.

"Right girls, i'm going to have to go now." He pouted, turning on the spot to face the girls behind him.

"Awwh!" They chourused.

"Sorry! Group hug before i go?" As soon as he said it he was lost in a crowd of girls, yet again.

"Okay, you know what, i'll follow you all. Tweet me the code words..." He paused to think; "'Grand clock wanted' but only that, and i'll follow you. Do it in about twenty minutes because i'll be on the train"

"Okay" They all choursed again excitedly.

"Bye" He waved, signalling for them to go as he turned back to see me with a smile stretched across my face.

"What?"

"You're so nice to your fans"

"Thanks. Right, let's get these tickets"

I let him take control and we were soon on the train looking for two free seats.

"Yes!" He almost shouted at the sight of seeing two seats opposite each other with a table between.

"Great" I smiled at him and put my bag in the overhead storage. He did the same and we both sat down.

"Want any food?"

"I'm okay, thank you"

"Alright. I just need to ring Jayne and check everything is alright for me to be off for another 2 days"

"Okay"

I couldn't help but feel guilty. I'd ruined Nathan's time off. Instead of relaxing with his girlfriend he was stuck on a train with a 15 year old and evidently, now single. I waited until he hung up to apologise.

"Nathan, i'm so sorry for ruining your time off. I promise, i'll be out of your hair as soon as i can. I'll stay with Max and Michelle, don't worry"

"Esmie, stop. You just made me realise what i should have known all along"

"What?" I asked confusedly.

"That Amy was-" He paused, "Is, a horrible person"

"I know but you didn't need to know that. You love her"

"Loved" He said bitterly.

"I'm so sorry"

"Don't be, it's for the best. Everything happens for a reason."

"Still"

"Esmie, just leave it, it's okay you don't have anything to be sorry for"

An awkward silence fell on us and i distracted myself from how uncomfortable the situation had become by smiling at a little toddler sat across from us.

"Look, when we get back to mine tonight we'll order in a take-away and talk about all of this, just not here?"

"Okay, sure" I said calmly while my stomach was flipping at the thought of having to explain and tell Nathan everything that had been happening for the past 6 years.

He shot me a smile and i returned it and not really knowing what to say next i just buried my head into the corner of my seat and fell asleep.
