Chapter 4

Drake was on the phone to Nicki as they read the fault in out stars together. They had just got to the point when Augustus and hazel were about to leave for Amsterdam. They finished the chapter they were reading before deciding to put the book away.

Nicki: brey

Drake: yes

Nicki: Okay.

He smiled at her using some of what they had read.

Drake: Okay.

She smiled on the other end of the phone and she could sense it.

Nicki: brey can we go for a drive

drake: we both know your mother would go crazy

Nicki: URGH !!! It's always about what my mother wants ! I can make my own decisions.

Drake: I'm sorry.

Nicki: whatever.

With that she hung up. Drake felt bad. He always felt bad after an argument between him and nicki. He always wanted for her to be happy rather than upset.

He sighed before getting up and putting his shoes and a hoody on. He took the keys to his car and let his mother know that he was leaving the house for a little bit. He got to his car and decided to let her know that he was on his way.

I'll be there in 5 minutes. Be ready 💕 -BigBro

After receiving the text from drake nicki was instantly up and getting ready. When she was done she went into her mothers room who was sat watching TV.

Carol: nicki, is everything okay

Nicki: everything's fine. I'm going out

Carol: no you are not young lady. You won't be gong anywhere at this time of night

Nicki had found that the best way to get what she wanted was to make her mother feel guilty.

Nicki: so what you want is for me to spend the last 9 months of my life locked up in this house with you. Having some so called mother daughter time.

Carol: that's not what I meant

Nicki: well what did you mean because it seems you dot even give me freedom anymore. I have to spend all my time under your nose making sure you know my every move

Carol: well what do you want me to do

Nicki: give me some space. I'm 18 and yet you're treating me like I'm 5. Give me some time to be alone some time with my friends where I don't have to worry about you being on my case. Why is that so hard for you

Carol: because I'm scared nicki. I'm scared about what the future holds for me. My only child is being take away from me in less than a year and there's nothing I can do.

At this point nicki was crying and carol was tearing up.

Nicki: if you're scared how do you think I feel. I'm the one loosing my life. I'm the one who had no future ahead of me. My life is a time bomb right now and I could blow any minute. Why can't you just let me live what I have left of my life the way I want to. I more scared than you will ever be.

Carol: it's not the same

Nicki: of course it's not the same. I'm in a worse position than you

Carol: you're not going out

Nicki: oh yeah. Watch me

At this point she was an emotional wreck. She grabbed her phone and overnight bag and headed out the house slamming the door in the process.

When she got outside she found drake leaning against his car waiting for her. She walked straight into his arms and he wrapped them around her.

Drake: shh. It's okay. Do you wanna talk about it ?

She shook her head.

Drake: okay. It's alright.

He kissed her forehead and rubbed her back. She soon calmed down.

Drake: shall we head off.

She nodded. He opened the door for her and closed it once she was in. He made his way over to his side and got in before driving away.

The whole time carol had been watching from the window. Tears streaming her face as she watched someone else comfort her daughter. She could see that fear was getting the better if her and that soon she would lose all the battles she has with nicki. She had to get it together and sort herself out. Nicki was fighting the biggest battle there was to fight but all carol was doing was making it harder. She had to change and soon.

Nicki and Drake drove for a while not really caring about where they were going. They soon arrived at a place that nicki hadn't see before. You could see across most of the city and it looked very pretty at night time.

Nicki: it looks beautiful.

Drake: surely it does. This is where I come when I just need some time along and I just wanna blank out the rest of the world. When I wanna be alone.

There was silence for a little while.

Nicki: how did you find it

Drake: I guess I was just driving around one day and came across it. Wasn't really intensional but here we are.

She nodded.

Drake: so do you still not wanna talk about it

She sighed a little.

Nicki: it's nothing you don't already know.

Drake: talk to me

Nicki: she won't give me any freedom. She treats me like I'm 5, then she had the nerve to tell me she's scared. If she's scared how does she think i feel.

Her tears were starting over again.

Drake: it's okay. She's just trying to protect you. She doesn't understand how you're feeling right now. She just doesn't know what to do. She figure it out soon.

Nicki: she doesn't have time to figure it out. When she does it'll be too late

Drake: it'll never be to late. Don't think like that okay. Everyone who's in your life right now loves you dearly and don't want anything bad to happen to you.

He took her and and softly kissed it.

Drake: she's just trying to be the best she can okay. At least give her a chance

Nicki nodded and looked back out to the city. She didn't let go of his hand and instead intertwined their fingers.

Nicki: brey, I've got something that's been bothering me for a while and I thought you should know.

Drake: what's up

He turned to look at her. He could tell she was struggling to get it out.

Drake: it's okay. You can speak to me

She sighed before speaking.

Nicki: well Its been going on for a while now and I think I have really strong feelings for you

Drake: it fine I feel the same way

Nicki: no you don't understand. I mean like proper feelings brey. Ones a girl would get if she was falling for a guy which is what is happening to me

Drake: I do understand nic. And I feel them same way. I tried not to convince myself under the fear of you didn't feel the same

Nicki: I do. And I think I love you brey but more that just a bestfriend

He was taken a back by the three magic words.

Drake: I think I love you too

Her face lit up as he said this. He smiled at her too. They both leaned in and slowly let their lips attach. The kiss was short and brief but held a lot of emotion for them both.

Drake: I love you

Nicki: and I love you too
